The Future Poetry is a work of literary criticism by Sri Aurobindo. It was published in essay form from 1917-1920 in Arya, a monthly review.
Later, it was published as a book. In this work, Sri Aurobindo describes the history and evolution of poetry. He talks of its rhythm, poetry as an expression of the national spirit, Elizabethan poetry, Mantra (a sacred chant) connected to poetry, and finally concludes saying that, The Future Poetry is spiritual, which will elevate human consciousness.
This book also includes an essay 'On Quantitative Meter' which was published in 1942
This is an important work, prescribed for UPHESC, BA, MA, NTA NET, SET, UPSC and other competitive exams. This will also help students preparing for GATE, CUET PG and more. This video is a part of the UPHESC English syllabus series by Heena Wadhwani.

Both The Future Poetry by SA (in its complete form) and Sacred Wood by TS Eliot were published in 1920 and they both share eerily congruent criticisms of the great poets excepting Eliot's dismissal of Hamlet as "an artistic failure" and for the grace he lacked when criticizing the poets :(
