There is a big mistake in this video. You compared a supersonic ballistic missile ATACMS to a subsonic cruise missile Kh-101. The russian equivalent of ATACMS is Iskander or Kinjal not Kh-101. That's a big mistake. The US equivalent of Kh-101 or Stormshadow are others cruise missile like Tomahawk, all are subsonic.
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Focusing on the velocity of atacms vs storm shadow implies one is better than the other just because of speed. Ther speed of storm shadow isn't lower because it's worse, that speed was a deliberate decision to maximize range and ability to avoid anti air defenses.
Great video. What's the rocket fuel made of? You mentioned fuel/oxidizer but you didn't mention the exact chemistry. As a kid I used to make rockets from a Sodium Chlorate/sugar mix (even a small amount was very powerful) but Sodium Chlorate was banned from sale in the UK in the late 90s due to its use in terrorist bombs. I then moved over to using Potassium Nitrate/Sugar which is a bit less powerful but still works and is legal to buy - they used to go well over 3 miles for a tiny amount of fuel. Obviously they use something a bit more sophisticated than that in military systems; keen to know what it is.
First up, love it. Keep up the good work. But.... It is misleading to compare the speed of a rocket motor to the air breathing cruise missiles that you used as an example. That's all.
Nice video and nice channel. How the control fins are moving, there should be a servo or motor to move them . as well as a source of energy (Battery) to drive those motors.
Question? Regarding the Impact sensor at the beginning, is it possible that bad weather could interfere with its projected path or destination? -Say Rain, Snow, Hail Fog, High Winds?
It’s not really an issue. Prior to firing, meteorological data is taken into account and is processed by the weapon. Unless you’re firing it into a literal tornado it won’t affect anything in terms of accuracy.
It has an interesting noise, when it disappears. No movies were ever made about it. When a disappearing missile explodes, it sounds as a space explosion, some missiles were tested in space, how they explode. Disappearing missiles sound, as if you hit a container with a heavy concrete block. Men slam the door in during a disappearance of a missile, it causes such an anger.
Seems strange comparing ballistic missile's speed with cruise missile's speed. If you would compare ATACMS to Iskander Missile that would show something interesting
Excellent explanation. However, "Missile," in American, is pronounced the same way one would say Catholic "Missal." Where as in English missile is pronounced "Miss-ai-el." Not to be confused with "throwing the book at them."
