Wow! This is a powerful machine. Having cared for an ailing elderly relative I can see that this cycle can be very useful if something happens in the middle of the night where you don't want to lose your materials and it will hold you over until you can run a whole cycle the next day.

@@ChrisP872 I was looking to get the GE 685 or the new 755, but the 755 might be too deep. Places have the 685 and matching dryer on sale for $950 bundle right now. When I saw it on display, it looked a bit cheap and flimsy, unlike the 12 year old GE top load tank that I've been using (transmission going bad last month).
I already got a like so here's more information. Too soon to give an update.
I got my machine at Home Depot and paid $597.60.
Another update. July 15 2019.
This machine is still going strong but it gave me a bit of a scare. It stopped spinning!
It wouldn't move at all in any mode.
Found a few techniques to help reset the machine.
Unplug for 2 minutes or longer.
Open and close the lid 6 times after plugging it back in (I did a few extra figuring it can't hurt)
It started spinning again. I'm not sure if the Open and close part was needed since I did both together.
I'm spin drying the clothes now.
If the machine doesn't stay fixed I'll report back.
Otherwise it may be a long time before I update again.
This is great to see. A lot of older toploaders, regardless of how much loved, could never manage to spin this as well as this did. I'm actually very impressed.

Have this machine! A lot stronger then most washers. Literally beats the dirt out of your cloth and also has a ton of options to adjust to your liking.. downside is it is pretty loud in my house.. matching dryer is pretty loud as well. Washes in less time then the GE front load washer (which I purchased for my grandmother)
If I select the speed wash, can I use a full load?

Yes but if it filled up and it washed it would still be unbalanced and the washer would give up so you would have to put something to balance it

Bought the Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer set and they were junk. Took them back to Lowe’s and ordered this washer with matching dryer and all I can say is this GE set puts a supposedly far superior Maytag product to shame.
That was pretty impressive. It handled that off balance load well. It also filled with the right amount of water as well.

Is it because of how loud it is?
The GE web site now shows a 755 model coming out, also with an agitator. My Profile unit is from 2006 and also has an agitator, but allows me to select the water amount (usually max) and soil level. Taked about 70 min total with two rinse and longer final spin turned on. It's only 3.5cuft, but gets everything clean. If it ever goes out, not sure if it's work getting another top load with agitator, or front load.

Dennis, I filmed a Maytag today, it was a repeat but one of the viewers wanted to see it only with water. So at the end of the video I restarted the machine to do a rinse and spin only and I through in the mop head for fun. It should be posted tomorrow.

How does the Fabric Softener Dispenser work in this washer?
Its located in that compartment on the back of the tub. The water just runs thru that part of the dispenser and the softener is mixed with the water and the machine fills for the rinse.

Mary Smith I highly recommend staying away from these units and any that look like it I have one and I’d have nothing but problems with it. I’d get an lg or Maytag washer not a ge

Kirk Rivas is this a good washing machine? HD has it on sale right now for $497.
It's a good machine, especially at that price. Most machines last about 8-12 years but it is not uncommon for machines to last half that time (4-6 years). So basically if you are ok that you might need to replace it in 4-6 years then you should feel comfortable about the purchase. If spending that much money upsets you knowing that it might (I stress might)last only last 4-6 years, then you should look at the $300-$400 price bracket. This machine does preform well and has plenty of features and capacity.

Not the 2018 Speed Queen . It does not clean anything. I returned the one I purchased with a 25% restocking fee . I had the owner of the store and Speed Queen tell me Heavy Duty is really normal. I was told this after I purchased it . I am looking into the false advertising on the machine. I know people love Speed Queen but it was changed in 2018 .
