Edas curse repents chronic illness, and a lot of parents see that as a death sentence to their kid, refusing to see their kid has ways to handle it, (Eda having her elixers) I am really glad they let her mom understand Eda more, and learn about Eda and Lilith, Its pretty cool I think and I'm happy they made this episode.
That's how I always interpreted it. When she describes the effect as, "No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable," the coding is pretty clear.
This episode was really important for me. My mom’s suffered from an autoimmune disease since she was 12 and didn’t know what it was till her mid 30s after decades of tests. And even after had to deal with ableist shitty doctors. Now I suffer from chronic pain and fatigue and winters are fucking the worst. I *really* like the detail in Keeping Up A-fear-ances where it takes only a small push to get Lilith to be overtaken by the Owl Beast (her simply panicking over not finding an elixir at the house) while Eda, under the scammy experiment her mom put her through, can take a couple pushes until she eventually cracks as well. Also I guess Lilith's Owl Beast form is bigger because she really isn't that used to controlling it as much as Eda (who is able to take the reins of her cursed form from the Owl Beast). Really really cool writing going on there.
Plus, Lilith's Beast form is basically more raven-like (the savaging bird of prey symbolizing death from the Edgar Allen Poe poem [also the biological name of the half-demon Teen Titan from DC Comics]) than owl-like.
Episode 4 came out before I started developing my chronic illnesses. It hits so different now. Especially since my mother has a new husband who doesn't believe int traditional medicine and basically brainwashed her into the same thing. She took me to a herbalist first (he did some random test, diagnosed me with something you can only diagnose through a blood test, "prescribed" me, in quotes cause herbalists can't write real prescriptions, over $800 of dietary freaking supplements) and when I told her I didn't trust him she told me to handle my situation by myself because she was helping me and I clearly didn't want it. Unfortunately my mum doesn't ACTUALLY care the way Gwendolyn does so she won't come around. But the first couple times I saw this episode it still stung, because I'm also neurodivergent, diagnosed at 12 but my mother started pretending it was all in my head. But I rewatched the whole series last week and this episode made me bawl.
I hope you've been well and I hope you've been healing, stranger 💟. I've been on my own journey with my mental and physical health as well and it isn't at its best state at the moment (made worse with the pandemic and also a shitty mother). And that whole Mom thing with Episode 4 is such a whirlwind for me. While it wasn't a one-on-one comparison to my issues, it made me so emotional. I hope eventually we can find our own safe and comfortable spaces soon 💝. PS. Love that Ellie fanart on your profile pic 😍😭

Thing with large creatures: they tend to have very, very long childhoods. So King’s age is interesting, because he could still be an “infant” in Titan terms, yet he’s clearly much more advanced in terms of maturity and cognition, likely as a direct result of how Eda’s raised him. He’s been raised by creatures who have much shorter lifespans but who also actively encouraged his mental and emotional development, so he’s probably way more advanced than any other Titan would be at the same age.
Your reaction to seeing the character in the human world, who looks like Luz is absolutely on point with mine and everyone else’s. This episode also contradicts what we're told in episode 17 with King being taught how to be a monarch by Eda confirmed by the quote "And that's how you got the idea you were some despotic overload" but it's contradictory to what Bill says with "Even their babies act like little monarchs" suggesting it's an inherented personality trait rather than something picked up. @@threeguysandagirlinabeachhouse King already acted like a little monarch before Eda, he just didn't know what that meant. So Eda explains to him and he understands now what this menas: "depostic monarch".
The incorrect predictions they make are fun, but some of these takes take me so off-guard because I didn’t even think of them until many episodes later
I think it really does say a lot about how we're conditioned to expect predisposed magical destinies and special lineages in fantasy that despite the second episode of the show explicitly telling us that isn't what this show is about, every reactor at some point insists Luz has a magical destiny and came to the boiling isles for a reason
DUDE, WHAT THE FUCK. Guy in the bottom right corner guesses literally EVERYTHING right. What kind of magic does this dude have?!?! I'm amazed. Shocked. Wow.

I really wonder sometimes how the show would have turned out if Disney wasn't the one to picked it up. I heard Disney was the first one to but Dana was also considering Cartoon Network, I believe? (I may be mistaken on that but I heard something like that in one of her interviews on UA-cam.)
@@chaoticconcy Same, I know it must be hard to say no to an opportunity like Disney greenlighting your show. They have the name, and the money. Cartoon Network is a toss up and it really depends on who's in charge at the time. They might have immediately given Dana full control and 3 seasons, or they might have cancelled it after season 1. I think Netflix would have been the better option for having more control, but that might be changing now. Dana's right, we need to support the New Deal for Animation.
@@gaybatgosqueak Plus, all major companies seem to be gutting/purging content (especially after mergers, like HBO Max merging with Discovery+ & the company overall being rebranded from Time-Warner, Inc. to Warner Bros. Discovery) simply because the execs in charge don't understand nor care about what their audiences want, but are still keen to reap profit from them.
So, i only watch until episode 10 of this season( because i live in another country and the episode have not been realesed yet) but this next episodes are gonna be fire.
Next week and the week after that will be great, oh and the week after that.... Basically there wont be a single pair of episodes in this season that is average
16:07 not by a different company, but in the case of a show called Kim Possible, they were able to get a 4th season due to fan demand. Sadly, that stuff doesn’t work anymore. It’s sad that clear audience demand won’t make Disney channel change their minds. Same for stuff like infinity train. Western animation is a dying art. Entertainment executives have decided that animation isn’t worth it anymore. They should just give it up, let animation become more niche and let creators create through indie studios or something. Let the fans support it that way.
about them “sizing up” king throughout the series- would be totally cool but it’s definitely just an inconsistency. you can cherry-pick episodes to fit it, but literally look in the opening of the show compared to how small he is in the first episode, or in other episodes of s1. could be because of different storyboard artists or different animation studios, but I don’t really see how it could be intentional
I KNEW you guys were gonna like episode 3! Alex Hirsch's performance still makes me tear up. Also I love how you're losing your minds over creepy Luz (what the fandom decided to call her when we 1st found out). "What kinda crazy shit happens later that y'all forgot about THIS?!?!" Hahaha. Just wait.
Caleb met great great great great grandma Clawthorn and was so curious fell in love and stayed I think that's why Eda is fascinated by human things her great great great great great grandfather was human and perhaps why she has a connection to Wild Magic. When we meet edas Father the resemblance to The Human Side is crazy. Luz has a different type of connection to it all she's not related to them and anyway
the anime brainworms insisting on certain plot beats is really funny to me. owl house is so good to avoid unecessary tired old storylines (spoiler warning through all of s2) like, theres some pretty good indications that all the major players are connected for A Reason on the side of the boiling isles, but luz? NAH SHE LITERALLY DID JUST STUMBLE RANDOMLY UPON THE DOOR BECAUSE AN OWL STOLE HER BOOK. AND THE STORY IS FAR BETTER FOR IT. like, come on. literally the second episode was a long "yeah this aint a Chosen One narrative". luz isnt here for any Meaningful Prophetic Reason she just turned up and chose to fight for what she thought was right.
Everyone thinks that creepy luz is evil. I honestly don’t think that, she hasn’t been shown doing anything evil. (I already know what’s happened with creepy luz plot, but I’m just saying my past thoughts without spoilers)
Needless to say, Alex Hirsch nailed King’s confusion and depression phenomenally well.
Probably one of his best VA work to date.

Though Alex had some incredible voice work with King here, and it was a nice episode.
@@threeguysandagirlinabeachhouse King already acted like a little monarch before Eda, he just didn't know what that meant. So Eda explains to him and he understands now what this menas: "depostic monarch".
@@threeguysandagirlinabeachhouse for the contradiction, to an extent, but also, looking back, it shows why King immediately latched on to the idea.
Episodes 1-9 are just building up, episodes 10 onwards are when it really takes off!

Theories are so crazy that it fits 😂😂
A dark spell would be ice and light because stopping (or freezing) the movement of light results in darkness
Prepare to have your minds blown in the next episodes!!
Shadow Luz is a great drop for episode end.
Bro how are they guessing all the lore correctly? 😭
I'm amazed. Shocked. Wow.
Just found your channel and binged all your Owl House videos so far, and I LOVE your reactions! Can't wait for the rest of season 2! Also, if you love this show, I feel like you'd equally love She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. I jumped into this show immediately after finishing that one and I feel like they have similar vibes/senses of humor.
the most surprising thing is that chat didn't spoil anything
(At 12:36) 2 years younger, actually.
Well Dana Terrace did want to make s1 a branded horror but Disney said "no", so screw disney
The silver lining of the cancellation of season 3, is that they were able to go harder, and darker for season 2.
No need to be shy we know Eda Hot you ain’t the only one think she a hottty or should i say hooty
So, i only watch until episode 10 of this season( because i live in another country and the episode have not been realesed yet) but this next episodes are gonna be fire.
Next week and the week after that will be great, oh and the week after that.... Basically there wont be a single pair of episodes in this season that is average
Every ep after this get CRAZY
"What is gonna happen!?" "...................A lot."
top 10 melhores plot twist dos animes
LMFAO I ALSO FORGOT THAT OTHER LUZ OR WHATEVER THE FANDOM CALLED HER WAS REVEALED IN EP4
HAH I won't say which, but one person got it right about King...
I can't wait for you guys to get through the rest of the season
13:43 DUUUUUHHHH
13:31 (spoilers)
how the actual f did he find that out so fast
16:07 not by a different company, but in the case of a show called Kim Possible, they were able to get a 4th season due to fan demand.
Sadly, that stuff doesn’t work anymore. It’s sad that clear audience demand won’t make Disney channel change their minds. Same for stuff like infinity train.
Western animation is a dying art. Entertainment executives have decided that animation isn’t worth it anymore. They should just give it up, let animation become more niche and let creators create through indie studios or something. Let the fans support it that way.
"What is going to happen?!"
If they only knew...
about them “sizing up” king throughout the series- would be totally cool but it’s definitely just an inconsistency. you can cherry-pick episodes to fit it, but literally look in the opening of the show compared to how small he is in the first episode, or in other episodes of s1. could be because of different storyboard artists or different animation studios, but I don’t really see how it could be intentional
You do not wanna mess with Mrs Clawthorne
22:45 Lilith is bigger because she’s the older sister/Older then Eda.
12:35 king is 8 years old 👍
Yeaaahhh... this season gets CRAZY trust me (prepare yourselfs emotionaly!!!)
I patiently await the day when they find out that King is a
I KNEW you guys were gonna like episode 3! Alex Hirsch's performance still makes me tear up. Also I love how you're losing your minds over creepy Luz (what the fandom decided to call her when we 1st found out). "What kinda crazy shit happens later that y'all forgot about THIS?!?!" Hahaha.
Just wait.
(At 10:33) DAMMMMN, *IN THE FACE!!*
Godamn these theories are on point
Gift of prophecy hitting one of yall lmao
I love your reaction to baby King
Caleb met great great great great grandma Clawthorn and was so curious fell in love and stayed I think that's why Eda is fascinated by human things her great great great great great grandfather was human and perhaps why she has a connection to Wild Magic. When we meet edas Father the resemblance to The Human Side is crazy. Luz has a different type of connection to it all she's not related to them and anyway
You guys really know how to make my day
Love these kind of shows
king found out santa wasn’t real
Wellcome to creepy luz. XD The reaction is so good every time XD
Ooh, there are so many shocking surprises on the way! Just you wait!
i would kill to see these guys reaction to amphibia's true colors
They said they already started it. I'm gonna guess it will take Gravity Falls spot once they are done with the shorts
OWL HOUSE TIME
I swear i love hooty so much 😂
the anime brainworms insisting on certain plot beats is really funny to me. owl house is so good to avoid unecessary tired old storylines
(spoiler warning through all of s2) like, theres some pretty good indications that all the major players are connected for A Reason on the side of the boiling isles, but luz? NAH SHE LITERALLY DID JUST STUMBLE RANDOMLY UPON THE DOOR BECAUSE AN OWL STOLE HER BOOK. AND THE STORY IS FAR BETTER FOR IT.
like, come on. literally the second episode was a long "yeah this aint a Chosen One narrative". luz isnt here for any Meaningful Prophetic Reason she just turned up and chose to fight for what she thought was right.
Oh guys you did just figured one
Everyone thinks that creepy luz is evil. I honestly don’t think that, she hasn’t been shown doing anything evil. (I already know what’s happened with creepy luz plot, but I’m just saying my past thoughts without spoilers)
The round symbol is a kind of glyph and wil be important later.
