At the second visit,a faulty intercooler fan caught fire after more than one hour of intensive high speed testing and 50 liters of fuel used. I love Top Gear and all, but man they trashed this things reputation hard. I'm wondering why lol, is it brutal honesty? Or was it because the manufacturers pissed them off.
Sorry I'll put it in stupid language. First you should make a more simple car with less horse power. Once you perfect that you can build a slightly better car. And so on and so on. Get it? A super car is the the car to build if you haven't built anything else similair. I never even built a box so my first project wouldn't be to build a house. Understand yet, stupid?
Okay mr non car guy...Saw you profile, only comment on game related stuff.. So you think a 1000 HP RWD car with no computer to help it, and on a very wet track, It would be possible to put all the horsepower down? Idiot.. -Also do you remember then the 991GT3 caught on fire? Yup there you go.... Remember this car was built by some men in a small shack, and not in a factory, even thou I think your are trolling, or i hope..
Jeez, I just noticed that @ 1:43 it runs up to 303 km/h (or 188 m/h, for the imperials) on the tiny Top Gear test track ? In the wet ? And that car was considered a failure ? Jeez, just how high is the bar for success ?
@@zlyverz The clutch was simply a result of doing donuts for an hour straight. The fan is something Zenvo fixed. It was constantly spinning, but when you've got a RWD car with over 1000 horsepower in the wet with no traction control, that's what happens

probably the worst thing that could happen to a car company = catching fire on top gear. i wonder if they are in production today. i liked the car but would never buy it. If Zenvo couldnt assure quality control for the review on top gear, then how on earth could a customer expect a better one?
Clerex S a tiny, tiny company in Croatia made an electric hyper car. And it works quite well. This car is from freaking Denmark. It's neighbours made Volvo's and saabs, and it caught fire on one of the most popular car shows in the world. Yeah, this car blows.
I love people bashing this car cause it caught fire so what this isn't the only car to do this The Ferrari 458 caught fire when it was first released and the new Porsche GT3 had this problem as well and I'm sure that the Zenvo has been fixed so this won't happen
Small companies like Zenvo are risky. What happens when the company goes out after a few years? Doesn't look like the warranty will cover for leaky tail light housings anymore... But you buy a Lamborghini you know that if it catches fire they would build you a new one(that of course is if the fire was caused on their behalf)
bmwmsport11 If you're buying these cars, you don't give two shit about a warranty for a leaky tail light... And most would buy this because it's even more exotic and rare, the styling, to my eyes, is a lot nicer than your run of the mill Lambo or Ferrari.
TheDanishWaffle The "engineer" the single one that works at Zenvo. When Ferrari has their to 50 spending 16 hours a day and millions of dollars a week to fix small issues like paint quality.
*I checked the car out half way through watching an episode of How It's Made, featuring this car, it's astonishing the attention to detail and near science fiction technology that was employed to build it, I hope they were successful in the end.*
There are many cars that catch on fire, but this car is awesome it looks nice it has the power to compete against other super cars! Let's hope they fix the issues so we can see it back on the road ;)
@@beautifulbeaner Mainly the engine is the biggest issue. Twin charged (supercharged + turbocharged) engines are notoriously unreliable and would require serious innovation for applications outside of ridiculous drag cars. Mainly better cooling.
The current rendition of the Zenvo ST1 now makes a whopping 1,104HP and 1,054 LB-FT of torque.. So, for all those saying that this probably ruined the company, you are mistaken! They made adjustments to the car, increased power, and have made improvements on it's build quality.
+Almond It can still catch fire, though. There's another video of a Zenvo, the ST1, specifically, catching fire during an event in Denmark. Apparently, this time, a fuel line ruptured, causing the fire.
I disagree with Jeremy on this one. If I was loaded I would most definitely buy a Zenvo ST1; because every other rich guy out there already has a Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani. I would want something that no one else at the "Country Club"/"Cars & Coffee" has. Plus the performance numbers are really giving me wood.
so what? do you think that the other rich people are stupid? they are buying these supercars because they are properly set up, reliable, meticulously crafted, really fast and, most importantly, they don't catch fire when they hit the rev limiter.
People sometimes forget that almost all the big companies were originally start ups. It takes time before a start up grows into a matured player. Loved the looks of the car anyway!
Clarkson really has a way with words. To describe the supercharged and turbocharged engine he says "smearing a habanero chilli with wasabi, and then garnishing it with dynamite. The end result is a speedometer that can't keep up" (1:15). What're his news articles like?
Same, same here too. 🙂 I would like to know if he has invested into Zenvo or if he got the car for free, maybe like a press car, even if it has his spec/design. There is no way he would've payed 1,7-2 million Euro/Dollar for such a car. :-/ For that money, he could get a Ferrari F50, his dream car. I feel bad for Zenvo, looks like a great company. But the car looks so odd and the design old, not well aged.
@@Alessandro-uj9mw Clearly have no idea about hyper car prices do you? F50 for 1.7 million dollars? 😂 Keep on dreaming buddy. Shmee bought the zenvo because it was the only car in that price bracket that he could buy new and go through the spec process. All other hyper cars are $2 million plus. But I think he have some kind of deal with zenvo.
Call me Mr. Nitpick, but I don't think material quality is something you should skimp on if you decide to build a cruisemi...car capable of such extremes.
Zenvo Automotive was founded in 2004. The first prototype of what became the Zenvo ST1 was completed in December 2008 and production began in 2009. Only 15 Zenvo ST1 cars were built and sold. I thought there would have been more sales than just 15. This supercar looks fantastic, wish they sold more in America.

At this latitude, if it doesn't rain much it's bordering on Arctic. We are straight across from the Baltic Sea, southern Russia, northern China, Sakhalin (a Russian island north of Japan) mid Canada, James Bay and Labrador. Most of these places are boreal forest or even tundra, (certainly above 55)- places generally known as f'ing freezing for at least 6 months of the year- and yet our climate is similar to the Pacific Northwest or southern BC- so I'll take the rain, thanks.
just because zenvo told clarkson was crap at driving after he drove it off the track, and when the zenvo got back to uk from denmark they told that there was a problem with the fan so he should go easy, but because they said you needed to be good at driving not to glide around on the track, he just gave it all it could take so the fan and ventilation system broke, and it went up in flames.
People are like "Oh how bad for the company, T G destroyed it's reputation", first it has no reputation to be destroyed, second, if something is garbage, it IS garbage and it's not even about tastes.
I am getting sick of the people that complain about the mistakes that this beautiful car has. Think about this. This is the first car ever made by this company, of course it will have some mistakes here and there. So just shut up and enjoy the beautiful car that it surely is. And when that is said, I think that it is miserable that Top Gear gives gives people the impression that the car is bad. These guys should have a helping hand instead. Jeg er selvfølgelig dansker :)
Happily, Zenvo now have a car with a rear spoiler that actually tilts depending on how you go around a corner! "When customers buy a car from us they are investing in the company" (the CEO, paraphrased from Top Gear Magazine).
_Man, this car looks absolutely gorgeous. Once they improve some quality issues (which I’m sure they did) I’d consider buying it if I had the money. XD_
Its too bad the car caught on fire. It is a masterpiece for designing. Lacks the perfection of the little details that ruined the vehicle in this video shown. If they solved those issues in the first place, I would have this vehicle above most supercars today! Great Video!
How to distroy a car, top gear edition... they hard drifted about an hour , and 45 minutes the fan broke down when they went berzerk 0-300km/h in insane testing, i wonder wich supercars would've endured such tests like the Zenvo ST1 ...
They do that with every car. I don't understand why can't people accept that a car built in a shed by a company with pretty much no experience has reliability issues
Literally any other car they had tested. Hell they put Toyota on fire, put it under the sea for hours and blew it up along with a 20 story building and it still ran.
I don't like how top gear mentions the condensation in the headlights and not that the car has crazy acceleration. And it was rainy when it went around the top gear power lap track.
If I spent >100 000 on a supercar I would be extremely pissed off if there was water in the headlights as it means the build quality is iffy. The crazy acceleration is a given with any supercar.
a < $100k Tesla can do that. the ST1 is a failure. They shouldn't have aimed so high without the technology to tame that 1000hp engine. and for god's sake. not even the new Korean cars have that issue on their lights. it's just proof that they didn't care much for the whole package. they cared more as to how they can put a thousand horsepower in a car.
dear Top Gear. you should try to put theyre newer models to the test, theyve been improving alot on the design and how the car functions. Please give it a try.
Jay Leno had it on his show.....but they decided not to run it maybe fire insurance or something but gosh the Danish guys that were there seemed like they had there personalities surgically removed. On the other hand, nobody else is gonna have one at the car meet. And it looks incredible. A collector would buy one purely for the exclusivity.
But none of them come with a manual transmission.
Get ur ass whoops first
Honestly, i could care less about the speed of that machine, cuz it looks soooo damn badassss
Maaz Sharief ya plus the flames will make me look like ghost rider. 10/10
It's not like it's a slow car, you know..
+Maaz Sharief You could care less, could you? Or couldn't you care less?
+Maaz Sharief (Maazypaaz) Serously, it is one of the best looking supercars out there. (And personally, this would be my favorite if we got to see some with the kinks fixed!)
I love Top Gear and all, but man they trashed this things reputation hard. I'm wondering why lol, is it brutal honesty? Or was it because the manufacturers pissed them off.
+cybertree Put it this way. If the best example of your craftsmanship is as reliable as a Yugo, youre probably not doing things right.
Zenvo has a real Pagani like potential! Stay at it guys!
Still proud of it... First Danish car that doesn't run on electric...
I'm also proud of it :D But the engineer said he would (they would) try to make a better model. (I think)
You should try crawling before you run.
Whatever that means...
I hope they make one with a carbon chassis, and F1 style push-rod suspension. It would be even better
why?
I hope they make one that doesn't catch fire, that would make it leagues better. just my opinion tho
with a fire like that it will turn to carbon before your very eyes
No, I don't know if iron can even burn but if it would it wouldn't turn into carbon.
Check out the TSR-S
Jeez, I just noticed that @ 1:43 it runs up to 303 km/h (or 188 m/h, for the imperials) on the tiny Top Gear test track ? In the wet ?
And that car was considered a failure ? Jeez, just how high is the bar for success ?
Not burning is a very low bar IMO
@@zlyverz The clutch was simply a result of doing donuts for an hour straight. The fan is something Zenvo fixed. It was constantly spinning, but when you've got a RWD car with over 1000 horsepower in the wet with no traction control, that's what happens
It isn't the first car on earth to catch a fire. Ferrari, lambos, even Toyotas do.
Not burning would be a good start.
@@user-ru1eq7tw4y
None of the modern supercars would be drivable without traction control .. they simply have too much power.
1:57 wait.. did i just see jeremy shift a hyper car with 1080hp? zenvo has a manual???
😳
i think its more of a super car then hyper car but yeah he did lol
There's mostly manual drivers in denmark so that's why
@@bjrnstrand8439 this car was the only zenvo st1 made with a manual gearbox normally it would have come with a flappy padel gearbox but zenvo knew Jeremy preferred manual gearboxes
probably that's why the clutch went
I like the design. Hate the quality issues, especially for the kind of money required to purchase it.
it was new on the market in 2014 they improved it now
SJ Stewart True, but that's still not an excuse. I would say most people agree it's unacceptable for a car at that price to have that many issues, AND catch on fire. Especially considering Zenvo was mad at Top Gear after this
The Jackal it's not worth the price i agree
A price can not be unacceptable haha. I am just imagining you walking in to a store and say "i will not pay this price for this chicken breast" and then they say "Sorry about that, but thats what we take for it" and you be like "Thats not acceptable" *Runs of with the chicken breast*

probably the worst thing that could happen to a car company = catching fire on top gear. i wonder if they are in production today. i liked the car but would never buy it. If Zenvo couldnt assure quality control for the review on top gear, then how on earth could a customer expect a better one?
Alpha Fort What can u expect from a car company that makes their first car. Not much but i guess it will be improved in the next model.
Clerex S a tiny, tiny company in Croatia made an electric hyper car. And it works quite well. This car is from freaking Denmark. It's neighbours made Volvo's and saabs, and it caught fire on one of the most popular car shows in the world. Yeah, this car blows.
Volvo and Saab took lot of time before it got popular and i never heard about a car from Croatia what is the car called?
Clerex S the Rimac is Croatian i believe. 0ne megawatt electric car. actually sold out. remarkable story too of the founder/ceo Mate Rimac.
You mean out of production. But that car could you compare to the Zenvo its not more popular than the Zenvo.
Don't worry. Thanks to its colour you won't even see the fire...
At least we've still got it on Forza :)
I love people bashing this car cause it caught fire so what this isn't the only car to do this
The Ferrari 458 caught fire when it was first released and the new Porsche GT3 had this problem as well and I'm sure that the Zenvo has been fixed so this won't happen
Yea the engineer said he'd try to fix it in a new model.
MetalSubYT: "try"!!!
Small companies like Zenvo are risky. What happens when the company goes out after a few years? Doesn't look like the warranty will cover for leaky tail light housings anymore...
But you buy a Lamborghini you know that if it catches fire they would build you a new one(that of course is if the fire was caused on their behalf)
bmwmsport11
If you're buying these cars, you don't give two shit about a warranty for a leaky tail light...
The visual effects and the camera work on this show is just stunning. They too are key elements in an auto show.
*I checked the car out half way through watching an episode of How It's Made, featuring this car, it's astonishing the attention to detail and near science fiction technology that was employed to build it, I hope they were successful in the end.*

yes by going up in flames, it has met the required flammable supercar criteria
alongside Porsche GT3 RS, and several Lambo's.

+Almond
It can still catch fire, though. There's another video of a Zenvo, the ST1, specifically, catching fire during an event in Denmark. Apparently, this time, a fuel line ruptured, causing the fire.
@@halofreak1990 not the ts1 tho
@@halofreak1990 all supercars do that though.
Only top gear can get away with either burning or flipping or totaling all the super cars that they have. Its unreal. Man I miss this show.
And now the Aurora is here, all those years later.
And like wood, it easily burns.
so what? do you think that the other rich people are stupid? they are buying these supercars because they are properly set up, reliable, meticulously crafted, really fast and, most importantly, they don't catch fire when they hit the rev limiter.
And why would you then get a Zenvo when Koenigsegg is around.
Buy a Rimac then
as long as you lived close by to the factory then it would be okay buy a Zenvo to add to your collection of supercars (most owners have a few)
This is like the modern-day Lamborghini Miura. Amazing looking (to me), brilliant sounding, but awful to drive.

Same here, came after watching his vid

Spectacular backfiring marketing ploy. Lesson: don't send your car to the most watched car show on earth until you are sure it's ready. Zenvo RIP.

Its too bad the car caught on fire. It is a masterpiece for designing. Lacks the perfection of the little details that ruined the vehicle in this video shown. If they solved those issues in the first place, I would have this vehicle above most supercars today!
Great Video!
How to distroy a car, top gear edition... they hard drifted about an hour , and 45 minutes the fan broke down when they went berzerk 0-300km/h in insane testing, i wonder wich supercars would've endured such tests like the Zenvo ST1
...
They do that with every car. I don't understand why can't people accept that a car built in a shed by a company with pretty much no experience has reliability issues
Literally any other car they had tested. Hell they put Toyota on fire, put it under the sea for hours and blew it up along with a 20 story building and it still ran.

The Zenvo ST1 isn't really a bad car! It has a 0-60 time of less than 2.7 seconds which is really good!!
Whatever, fog inside the head lights is not close to as bad as Hitler.
0-60 is overrated
a < $100k Tesla can do that. the ST1 is a failure. They shouldn't have aimed so high without the technology to tame that 1000hp engine. and for god's sake. not even the new Korean cars have that issue on their lights. it's just proof that they didn't care much for the whole package. they cared more as to how they can put a thousand horsepower in a car.
