I was at those games as well. I have a distant memory of what seemed the whole stadium Liverpool fans and all singing YNWA in unison. at one stage. They say we have no history but the history of my youth is tied forever to those crumbling concrete terraces of the once mighty shed
I love the grounds as they once were, compared to the all seater crap ,soulless places with no atmosphere etc, bring back standing and away fans trying to take the home end, those were the days
Sean Wheeldon: if you love the main stand, you'll be gutted to know that Stamford Bridge was supposed to have all 4 stands renovated exactly like the main stand. However, financial problems threw ice cold water on that idea - AFC fan.
Stamford bridge sure has changed from the footage shown. I guess after the Hillsborough disaster there was no choice. I think the grounds are much better nowadays. They might not have the same atmosphere but at least they are safer and the fans are sheltered from the elements.
Went there with UTD in the late 70’s when we were banned from every away match that season but still filled the open away end as the local plod couldn’t cope.
I remember trying to take the shed in 69 we got hammered that's the first time I saw Eccles he was a true leader Godder Liverpool Skinhead Respect to Eccles

Beatuful music. Evocative.
It's called 'Angela Undress' from the "American Beauty" film soundtrack by Thomas Newman.
I'm a Fulham fan , but I have some nice memories( a few bad , too ) of when the ground was like this . Haunting vid . Thanks for posting.
when the ground was iconic. i visited it in 1982- was breath-taking. its shite now
It was spoilt by ugly buildings..not like a football ground or the one we knew and loved.

Couldn't have said it any better.

That huge main stand ruined Chelsea financially in the 1970s. Wolves suffered the same fate after building the John Ireland Stand.
