This was a really fun game to watch. The level of baseball is very good. Some very impressive swings and overall some sweet hitting. The ballpark is beautiful and the video + audio made it so the game was felt right there at the field level. Pretty awesome. I particularly liked the righthander from the P27 Blacksmiths, Joe Yamamoto. His mechanics were tip top all game while he went the distance. I loved the effort and the finish on his pitches. When he made mistakes in the zone he got hit, but almost everytime he worked out of it. Only 1 time did I see him really get beat and that was a bases loaded clean Single to Left Center which was a beautiful swing of the bat. This kid Joe was very impressive. The video was well produced and the excitement of the game and effort level of the players was easy to see. I'm a new subscriber to this channel :)
Not sure why everyone got so worked up on that play at the plate. In hindsight, catcher did as much or more to induce the contact and the runner isn't going to slide that far from home plate and tried to avoid the collision as best he could. The runner could have trucked the catcher but pulled up.
Any good catcher is well aware of what the consequences of their body placement with and without the ball can bring. Anytime my son has been lade out on the plate when he was blocking the plate without the ball i always tell my son its on him not the guy coming to score cause he knows not to block the lane when he doesn't have the ball.
Totally agree. Competitive game and physical but tempers were actually mild after they discussed it. You Don't back down from your competitor.. but Tempers didn't flare. That was just Competitive interaction..
Drama moments aside, I see two very close matched teams, playing their heart out with class. It's a shame either has to lose a game like that. Well done men, on both sides.

Super agree. I tried it in my MSBL league...and yes it was comfy. It was a nice break in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th innings and so on, to be on 1 knee. However, anything away and down, I felt like I was all locked-up! With guys on bases, I'm not a fan of the 1 knee down.

I thought they got a couple calls wrong on first watch but re-watching they are right every time....except for the non strike call @ 14:39 If hitter in bottom 6 hustles and doesn't pimp a 315 foot single that double play probably doesn't happen. Plate collision top 7 (20:31), the runner definitely let up. That was a non-issue to me. You can see his steps trying to avoid contact when the catcher goes right to him to secure the tag. Coaches did good work to diffuse the non-issue.
Yes, there was a tag at 1st, that I was almost positive he was safe, then went frame by frame and saw it. Such a good call. Also surprised the balk at 1508 was so calm and the field umpire didn't say anything.
I gotta ask though, what the heck is the deal with 2nd base, is there ice out there? How many players just slid right on by the base? Never seen that happen but maybe once ever in a game..

I don’t understand the whole catcher thing. In the 1970s and 1980s if we were running the base paths and held up like that runner did and not try to run the catcher over our coach would’ve screamed at us. If the catcher is blocking the player you’re supposed to run him over otherwise he’ll just stand on the plate all day and nobody will ever score. So I guess what’s the new rule no contact with the catcher? I mean really… Every guy that plays catcher loves those collisions… Frankly probably far more than the runners who run into them. I would say at least half the time the runner gets the worst of it because the catchers are geared up he can lower his center of gravity and brace for the head I saw a catcher one time cartwheel a guy and the guy was still up in the air and the catcher was jogging into the dugout

When I played Little League, the catcher on my team lived right up the street from me. Once summer, when we didn’t have much to do he said, “do you think if we practiced we would get good enough so nobody could steal a base on us next year?“ And I replied that all I had to do was catch the ball and tag them…. But that he had a great arm so if we worked on it yeah I’m pretty sure we could do that. Show me marked off the distance from home plate to second base on his driveway and then we began. Every day that summer for at least 100 throws and sometimes upwards of 300 or 400 throws….we practiced. To make it real, I pretended like I was in my usual position and then the pitch came… That was my younger brothers job being the pitcher….. After a few weeks all the throws started being on the money then we worked on throwing it so that it would be about 2 feet off the ground when I got to my glove and then I could tag and by the end of summer I could jog over to second base put my glove down and position close my eyes and wait for the ball to hit my mitt. He was dialed in when we got back to school the baseball season started shortly there after and I can’t remember specifically what any event there was just really fast kid and I told him if this year he was not going to steal a base on earth anyway the first time we played his team I asked the pitcher to walk him. I jogged in to the pitcher and told him to call for a pitch out. The catcher …seeing what I was doing ….jogged out and said, “if we do a pitch out he’s going to say that’s the only way we got him.” Just throw a fastball. So he does strike one and the runner is laughing because he said I thought you were gonna do a pitch out and I told him that’s what I wanted to do but because you said he’s gonna throw you out no matter what you do the second pitch? BALDWIN and on the third picture I was pretty sure he was going and sure enough he takes off it’s a strike right down the middle the catcher comes up and I mean he was so fast out of his stance the guy was may be only three or 4 feet off the base at that point and he throws down to me and we’ve got him out by a couple steps. I have the tag down and I’m just waiting and at the last second the runner raises his leg up and clipped me on my upper thigh. I held onto the ball… He was out but I’m not happy. Now the cleats were only rubber but it still didn’t feel good and I’m only 10 years old and I was taking everything I had not to cry but here comes my coach and he stays between me and all the people watching and I’m grabbing my thigh and he tells me to straighten up and he says don’t let him see that it hurt you… Don’t touch your thigh again the rest of the game or you can in the dugout but not on the field and when you come in the dugout we’ll talk about what we’re gonna do to that runner next time….ok? And then he smiled and said I know you want to stay in this game because you and my son have been throwing that damn baseball down our driveway all summer driving my wife crazy and I smiled and said that I wanted to remain in the game. In the dugout he gives me instructions about what we’re going to do the next time and sure enough the next time the batter comes up, the pitcher walks in and here we go again and the process repeats itself only this time as he came sliding in as soon as I tagged him with my outstretched arm I jumped up and guess where I landed? That’s right I landed right on his legs and then I fell forward to make it look like it had been completely an accident. By the way he came in high again so I’m sure his coach told him to do that. Anyway he’s laying on the field crying I think I’m gonna get thrown out of the game and here comes the coaches the umpire looks at me and says, “son did you jump on him on purpose and of course my coach and I had rehearsed it and I said no I was just trying to avoid including me like last time at which point the other coach coach arguing etc. the umpire thinks for a minute and says the following “the runner is out…. The second baseman is not ejected from the game because last time he was completed and I probably should’ve throw the runner out of the game but I didn’t because the second baseman did not complain nor did his coach….. it was not unreasonable for the second baseman to jump to try to avoid being cleated so the process seems to have worked itself out let’s play ball.” After the game and I’m gonna run into that on fire in the parking lot. His son and I were actually friends and he said, “just so we’re clear . what is said and what happens on the ballfield is one thing but when you’re at my house and I ask you a question… I expect to always be told the truth… I’ll be clear on that and of course I said yes sir and he said “the way your coach told you to handle that today was just perfect sometimes in life you have to handle things yourself you’re lucky to have such a good coach”….and I agreed. I spent hundreds of hours in my coach’s house with his sons….and at one point he gave me a key to the house because he got tired of always opening the door for me ….I either ate meals at their house or his sons ate at my house… and for a while I called his wife mom because I was at their house so much. He was such a great influence I wish I told him that before he passed. People really underestimate the value of sports….you learn so much and whether you are good or not doesn’t matter in the end. And yes my friend the catcher…. He loves collisions and I still remember one time in practice where there was a play at the plate and I tried to run them over and I lost that battle badly it was like running into a brick wall tell me and I even tried to pull the ball out of his glove..nope.

Yeah, hitting was incredible. Video makes judging the pitching hard since it slows down perceived velocity but I don't think the pitching was the reason for the good bats. Pitching was probably really good too.

I haven't finished watching the game, the score is 5-5 in the top of the 6th. Sorry bro not trying to talk shit, just giving a little advice to the catcher on the Ducks. Team E7 has five runs, in which three are from passed balls the catcher missed. Ok yes, they were bad pitches, but not a wild pitch. If you watch the game the catcher is on his right knee every single pitch, so when there is a bad pitch, he is not in the right position to stop the ball when there's a pitch in the dirt. Stay on those toes' bro! Other than that, everything looked good. The catcher has a strong arm to 2nd

It's something guys talk about in my MSBL league; playing on turf fields and slidin' right past 2nd and 3rd base. You literally scoot right on by on the carpet, lol. And, the field was wet it seems with some drizzle early and rain late.
crybabies have been created by the new rules! I played catcher in little league and HS in the mid to late 60's and early 70's before they softened the game! I was always ready for the collision always prepared for come what may ! Not once was their ever and waaa waaa waaaa you played the game!

Both these catchers need to get off their knees with men on base!!! The one catcher had three passed balls because he got handcuffed and couldn’t get to his right side to block the ball or at least knock it down and the runners advanced safely each time!!!! Sorry, I made the comment before watching it in completion. There is another passed ball which allows the runner from third base to score! When is the coach going to coach and tell him to get off his knee? He can’t block anything to his right side!!! It’s sad that no one has instructed him to this point to make a change!
I don’t know what the big deal is? The runner pulled up and said it was on him! Not to mention the catcher didn’t have to run a third of the way up the third base line to make the tag! I played as a catcher for 13 years and I lived for the play at the plate! I agree with another person on here that the Buster Posey rule has made the game soft along with other changes! Umpire blew that call in the fifth inning at third base. I saw him ask the plate for his view. By the video jump, it appears as if the home plate umpire agreed with the call. So I’m going to say the Homeplate umpire missed it or offered no help. At least the third base umpire knew there was a chance he was wrong. If you’re not going to come down there and help, don’t come to third base.
I and not a fan of the HP umpire not taking his mask off running to cover third or ruling on the runner's lane at first. Looks really lazy in my opinion.
I used to think that that was not feasible. With the price of today’s equipment… Maybe it is. I was in high school when aluminum bats first came out. I did not like them. We used to get two bats to start the season, they would break pretty quickly. Then I saw how everyone else was hitting pretty well with the aluminum bats, so I tried it as they say the rest is history. That’s a big cost the school programs don’t have to deal with. Most kids have their own bats now.

One frame the runner's foot is just off the bag and F3's glove is open. Next frame runner's foot is on the bag and F3's glove is closed. I agree.
Catcher's mobility is so hampered with the one knee down , especially with runners on. The could barely move to block baseballs

Yeah, hitting was incredible. Video makes judging the pitching hard since it slows down perceived velocity but I don't think the pitching was the reason for the good bats. Pitching was probably really good too.
If you look at top of the video you can see where each kid is committed to go to college.

If you watch the game the catcher is on his right knee every single pitch, so when there is a bad pitch, he is not in the right position to stop the ball when there's a pitch in the dirt. It's something guys talk about in my MSBL league; playing on turf fields and slidin' right past 2nd and 3rd base. You literally scoot right on by on the carpet, lol. And, the field was wet it seems with some drizzle early and rain late.

Both these catchers need to get off their knees with men on base!!! The one catcher had three passed balls because he got handcuffed and couldn’t get to his right side to block the ball or at least knock it down and the runners advanced safely each time!!!! Sorry, I made the comment before watching it in completion. There is another passed ball which allows the runner from third base to score! When is the coach going to coach and tell him to get off his knee? He can’t block anything to his right side!!! It’s sad that no one has instructed him to this point to make a change!

Umpire blew that call in the fifth inning at third base. I saw him ask the plate for his view. By the video jump, it appears as if the home plate umpire agreed with the call. So I’m going to say the Homeplate umpire missed it or offered no help. At least the third base umpire knew there was a chance he was wrong. If you’re not going to come down there and help, don’t come to third base.

I used to think that that was not feasible. With the price of today’s equipment… Maybe it is. I was in high school when aluminum bats first came out. I did not like them. We used to get two bats to start the season, they would break pretty quickly. Then I saw how everyone else was hitting pretty well with the aluminum bats, so I tried it as they say the rest is history. That’s a big cost the school programs don’t have to deal with. Most kids have their own bats now.
