I played at Barbe from 96-99 ( Im also in the college pictures and pro ball pictures on the wall in the video). We dressed in the parking lot while I played there but were ranked #1 in the nation my senior year. Coach C is exactly as he comes across. Barbe's success is not about the facilites, the uniforms, or the amenities. Its Coach C. The passion and love he has for the game and his players (while they are there and after they leave) is the special sauce. I love that man like a father. He truly teaches you how to win at baseball and win in life!
This is the best way to put it, I graduated in 2020, and he still treats me as if I’m one of his own! I’m still playing thankfully, and he would do anything to make sure that I’m taken care of when I need to put in the extra work etc. when I’m home!
This Facility is much better than 80% of D1 facilities; even the stadium seating exceeds many top 30 programs. The Coach with all of his supporters has built a Dynasty and the fact that he continues to add on every year is just amazing.
My son plays for Stoneman Douglas and are super excited to have lights on the field. This place is insane! These kids have no excuse to not be phenomenal, everything is right there for them. Great vid

I‘m from germany and Baseball is not even a thing in my country but i love from all my heart US sports and it always blows my mind when i see how much passionate even schools are with their sports. If i would be born in America I think i‘d be in paradise but my home is still my home and i‘m glad that young students already have access to facilities like this be always grateful for that!

Y’all’s see Barbe, but it starts with Little League and Babe Ruth in the Lake Charles area. South Lake Charles Little League, Mid City Little League, Iowa, Sulphur, Westlake Little Leagues, and Moss Bluff Babe Ruth all produce so many great players. Most of the high schools in the area benefit from the youth/Legion/travel ball leagues.
11 minute video is all it took to understand how Coach Cecchini has built a public school into a national powerhouse. Type of coach you talk to 25 years after you graduate and type of coach that cares just much about his players personal life as he does baseball.
I love that it is a natural grass playing surface. So many High Schools are pushing to turf and it is just not safe for kids or adults. For those that will come back and say no its not, look at every professional sport, unless they are in an indoor stadium without a retractable roof or a playing surface that can come out of the stadium (Arizona Cardinals), it is grass because no turf gives like grass and instead of giving turf will catch and cause terrible injuries at all levels of play.
@@jensenwerner590 nah with proper drainage and a grounds crew that knows what they are doing you can play. I’ve been in situations with a whole little league park in knee deep water at noon and playing games at 6 , in Texas .

i guess when they get such a good coach, they focus their priorities on opportunities for those kids, as they leave half the school falling apart after the hurricanes in 2020, let alone all the temp classrooms never getting developed. The school is massive, but it mainly looks good from the outside. that being said, in 2021-2022, they started giving every student a personal laptop to help with homework, projects, etc. plus its been 2 years since i graduated so i assume they're working on stuff, but i dont think its gone too far by now
dont forget half the buildings are falling apart, there's atleast an acre or 2 of temp buildings, that have been "temps" for years, and to a smaller degree, a few teachers are either retiring, getting laid off, replaced, or shouldered with more responsibilities, more students to a class, yet the facilities and resources arent expanding with that

Im from England and over here only few schools support sports programmes, most schools you just have to go and do whatever physical activity they tell you to do or you don’t do it, for us to play football (soccer) we have to do this outside of school time in our own time with a local team, think it’s really cool that in America they take sports really seriously and have entire buildings like this just dedicated to one sport.

This was my HS. Yes, the facility is beautiful. For the real story, talk to some of the players past and present - it’s not all rainbows and butterflies. The intense pressure put on the parents and kids is insane. “Raised”…. maybe strong-armed is a better description.
Im a senior at another school in the same district as barbe and i have friends who go, baseball is the only good thing about Barbes campus, everything else is terrible when it comes to the actual campus, class rooms, air conditioning, they only care about their sports and scholarships
Crazy to see how mcuh they care about their baseball team over education and the rest of their facilities. A lot of the buildings are missing proper flooring and don't have proper AC. Keep in mind this is Louisiana, where it can get HOT. So 85+ degrees with no AC? You tell me. Not to mention the infestations, and how a lot of the upstairs hallways look like repurposed parking garages. This type of funding doesn't go anywhere else- not to the art department, not to the band, not to STEM, not to the other teams and clubs. Not even to our education.
dont worry, the buildings "arent" falling apart, the faculty are being "compensated" for their growing class sizes, their temp buildings are "close" to being developed out of the temporary stage, and the environment is very "calm" for the students. that and theres a dress code that does nothing but make the parents buy expensive uniforms, or overpriced school t shirts that can only be worn on fridays. at least the sports are faring well

We play them every year that coach has energy and I love playing them finally beat them after 3 years of playing against them.

The infield and foul territory was turfed in 2023. It was one of the most prestigious natural baseball fields in the country.

Not to mention the infestations, and how a lot of the upstairs hallways look like repurposed parking garages. This type of funding doesn't go anywhere else- not to the art department, not to the band, not to STEM, not to the other teams and clubs. Not even to our education.

dont worry, the buildings "arent" falling apart, the faculty are being "compensated" for their growing class sizes, their temp buildings are "close" to being developed out of the temporary stage, and the environment is very "calm" for the students. that and theres a dress code that does nothing but make the parents buy expensive uniforms, or overpriced school t shirts that can only be worn on fridays. at least the sports are faring well
