Since you have leftover wool, maybe a matching muff would be pretty? Love your new coat, you did an amazing job and it is beautiful! Your sewing is being more and more skilled. Congratulations, and thanks for bringing us along on your journey!
I don’t think you could easily have purchased some thing so beautiful! I mean obviously there’s other incredible makers out there but to make that for yourself to fit your exact body is just chefs kiss! 😘
You actually created THE perfect coat right in front of our eyes! You are such an inspiration and have come so far since the beginning of your sewing/youtube journey! I love the joy and pride you share with us in each new project! You are a treasure!
Little hack tip. Sew yourself a tailor's ham. U find patterns online. It's super easy and cheap to make and ultimate help for ironing round objects, sleeve heads, collars, anything round.
Hi! I learned recently that to turn a belt or tube over, you can attach a thick thread on one of the small sides, between the two layers, and then being very careful not to sew over it when sewing the long side. then just pull on the string (which should be longer than your belt) and it effortlessly turn the whole thing over. Hope this helps, and please continue to be amazing!
I roughly sew on a length of ribbon I keep for this purpose, and then use the ribbon to pull it right side out. It works well for thicker fabrics, because the ribbon is far less likely to snap halfway under the tension.
I love watching you sew. I sew too, but simple things like skirts and pillowcases, lol. My mom has the ability to sew without a pattern. She can look at a garment and start cutting the fabric. I break out into a sweat and get nervous when I cut out my skirts.
My aunt was just the same. Not only she could cut fabric without a pattern, she made a pattern of a sleeve without a ruler (I just told her "my arm is x long"), while being nearly blind. And here I am sweating bullets and trying to cut a shift. Don't worry! They told me. Its just squares! :D Yeah right....
Adjust your foot tension by turning the round dial on top left of your machine , it looked a bit tight when you were doing the belt , an your wool is quite thick so you need a bigger needle , you will find these make your sewing a bit easier in future, I adore this coat ❤️❤️
Wonderful, it's just a marvelous coat! Thank you for the opportunity to watch you create another beautiful article of clothing. After being up all night and seriously rattled by the events in DC, I definitely needed a break with some healthy creativity and positivity. You gifted me and all of your viewers with both. Thank you. ❣
Love how the coat turned out! I would definitely make some matching mittens or gloves, I saw someone mentioned a muff, just to match the coat and to also keep your hands warm. I know you want to get as much use out of the wool as possible and I think that would be a perfect finishing touch to the coat.
It is so good to see a young person sewing. It is nearly a lost art. You did a beautiful job. Oh yes, when you cut out beret, you did not leave a seam allowance on top part. Again, beautiful job.
If I didn't already have a perfectly functional and warm ski jacket/winter coat, I'd be putting this on my to sew list. One doesn't need more than one in the Netherlands. I absolutely LOVE it.
Your coat is so beautiful, it inspired me to try it myself. Took almost 2 months but I've finished it and it's now my absolute dream coat. I kept looking at your videos to see how certain details turned out. Made tiny changes and adjustments, but the result is so much more than I had hoped! Thanks for documenting your journey! I knew exactly what I was getting into thanks to you. 😄❤️
I don't think I've ever seen a prettier coat!! The fit with the flared skirt is gorgeous! I never see these in the store I think I need to learn how to sew
I was delighted you made the pattern longer! How did you sew the sleeve of lining to sleeve of coat? Patterns always say to finish connecting by hand. Pull sleeves into the space between lining and coat fabric; make sure they are not twisted. Sew right sides together with sewing machine. Pull back through sleeves correctly. A dear friend taught me this method.
Beautiful! This is what I would love to have too, I have such little sewing experience that I'm afraid it would turn out a mess, but... Maybe I could try a mock one first using scraps or something..
What a beautiful winter coat. Brown neutral colors look good on you. Great craftsmanship, I love it. You look a little like Madeline with the beret. Would love to see you do a future costume tutorial on her. Nice children's character book idea for you.
BEAUTIFUL job on this coat, it's an absolute triumph!! Loving the coppery buckle detail, it perfectly compliments that shiny lining. Also, your music choice on this video was entrancing -- 10/10, will watch this on repeat because it's just that soothing.
My brother doesn’t like button holes on thick fabric either! On my 70s Kenmore there’s a function to change the height/pressure of the presser foot; I always figure that would solve the problem with the Brother’s thick fabric button holes, but I don’t believe it has that function 😬 even though it’s computerized and has a hundred other functions and settings! Silly, really! Yours is a lot more advance than mine though, I would check!
You and a few other sewing you tubers have me the confidence to buy a sewing machine! Thank you so much! Keep up with that great work of motivating people ^^ My two biggest project I want to do one day are a coat like this and a corset!
I like it a lot. I think everything fits perfect and the accessories are exactly what was needed to make it complete. ❤ I made a circle skirt for myself and I felt that was so much work, but I love it. I can't imagine how much work you did to make this beautiful coat. ☺
Oh my gosh it's beautiful!!! I'm betting people won't believe it's handmade when you tell them. Who would've thought that a year ago we were first watching you start this sewing journey and now you've made the most gorgeous coat I've ever seen?? I love it and I want one, haha
Loved watching these 2 vids, iv fallen in love with a hooded coat pattern (Simplicity Sewing Pattern 8769) that im going to combine with the coat you made as the base as i am in love with the skirt on the coat you made
For the belt and the belt loops, there is a way that you don't have to turn them inside out. You should iron them half, then turn the seam allowenses inside, then topstich around them. So much quicker, and less painful :D love this coat sooooo much ❤️
You have done a tremendous job on both . They both look so good on you well done x . A tip for you before cutting the button holes put a pin either end it stops is cutting it too far .
For the button hole, check if there is a thin piece of metal/plastic on the left that you can pull down. On my machine this part tells the machine that the button hole foot is being used and also when the length of the button hole has been reached and it will then do the 2nd side of the button hole. If I forget to pull it down, it does the whole stitching in place that you had.
I hope you enjoy your new sewing machine! I've used others, but have been using a Brother one for years (much less fancy, though!), and it has been my favorite so far. 😊 Hopefully it will be a wonderful pal for all your vintage sewing!
I think they mean the inside of the collar would be the underside of the collar and the topside of the collar is called outside..if the hood is not being worn and laying flat on your back the collar should be over the edges. Collar up, hood up, collar down, hood down. I hope I explained that right. Enjoy your brother sewing machine I still have mine and I got it in junior high school and I am now 63.
girl let's talk about what you are wearing right now that grey dress is super feminine and super classy it's just amazing tell us how did u sew it and please talk about patterns and how can we make the same one for every shape of the body
What happened to your coat buttonholes was exactly what happened to mine on my new winter coat last winter. My machine is a Brother Innovis Laura Ashley, very similar. I cried, I swore, I ripped up and ended up at a friend`s for help. Her Husquarna did the trick with a bit of manual help. I have had so much trouble with buttonholes on this machine, a thin cotton with a bit of stabilizing, the needle gets stuck and rips the fabric. Arrgh Brother.
It looks stunning!! So gorgeous, I love how twirly the skirt is! And the matching hat is the perfect touch. Really well done, this makes me want to go make my own coat! 😊
This is my dream coat as well, I actually have that pattern saved to my wishlist and I am glad too see that it turns out BEAUTIFUL! This is so well done i love it!!!!!!!
As a fellow Dutchy self-thought dressmaker, I also started my first coat project recently. I hope mine turns out half as pretty as yours! It's gorgeous! Also: congrats on the new sewing machine!
I just happened to be scrolling thru all these videos on UA-cam and **WHAM** this one stopped me dead in my tracks, lol. What a magnificent handmade piece. The coat is just absolutely STUNNING !! This video says part 2. On the first part are you videoing a tutorial for making this magnificent coat ? Would you mind disclosing what pattern you are using ? I can see it is a McCalls but unable to see the remaining info. I would love to tackle a project like this but I am a visual learner. That's why I asked if your prior video is a tutorial. Thank you from Central Florida.
It's gorgeous! I think in a few years I'll try making my own one. I'd make it black and a little less full than yours, but definitely the same length cause I love it. Congratulations, you did a great job and you look very pretty in it ❤
About the build up of thread on the button hole that broke your needle- and I am very much a beginner so don’t take this as a for sure, but I know that mine does that too after it finishes the button hole. For me, that’s just because it’s done with the stitches of the button hole but I’m still holding down the pedal, so it just stitches in the same spot over and over. My machine doesn’t have a screen and stuff but it uses the same foot so that may be it? I hope I helped someone at least haha
I worked at a sewing factory for 6 years and I still couldnt do anything like this. That coat is amazing!!!! Great job!
Thank you so much!
Since you have leftover wool, maybe a matching muff would be pretty? Love your new coat, you did an amazing job and it is beautiful! Your sewing is being more and more skilled. Congratulations, and thanks for bringing us along on your journey!
I was thinking of suggesting a muff as well. It's be wonderful!
The shape of that coat is so pretty! I love how it twirls. Congrats on finishing your first coat - that's a pretty challenging project!
I was frantically eating an apple whilst watching, but suddenly realised the background music was so soothing! It completely relaxed me in an instance
I don’t think you could easily have purchased some thing so beautiful! I mean obviously there’s other incredible makers out there but to make that for yourself to fit your exact body is just chefs kiss! 😘
THAT, my dear, is a beautiful coat! Well done! 🙂

Yeah right....
@@0MissNemo0 I'm happy I'm not the only one who gets nervous cutting fabric. lol
I feel so jealous that I can’t do nothing like that, but seeing you so happy about it makes me happy!!
Adjust your foot tension by turning the round dial on top left of your machine , it looked a bit tight when you were doing the belt , an your wool is quite thick so you need a bigger needle , you will find these make your sewing a bit easier in future, I adore this coat ❤️❤️
its like a kiddie coat .it looks super cute

Seems like you need a Loop Turner! It should save your hands and time in turning out narrow pieces. 🙌💕
I too got a new machine for Christmas.... sews like a dream
Congratulations Loopsie on your new sewing machine

Love the new sewing machine. The automatic button hole feature is worth the cost of the machine by itself.

Omg I hope you made some matching riding gloves with this gorgeous coat!! 😍
It looks SO GOOD! This is my dream coat as well!
It’s been so lovely, watching you come so far in your sewing. And so quickly too- you’ve really just picked it up so very fast.
OMG! Congratulations! It turned out pretty good! Congratulations!
I don't think I've ever seen a prettier coat!! The fit with the flared skirt is gorgeous! I never see these in the store I think I need to learn how to sew
Great coat and sewing. Now we dress alike you and I. Congratulations on the machine too.
This coat is amazing!! Your sewing skills are getting so much better, and I think you passed the beginner phase long time ago, really!! 👍🔝
I was delighted you made the pattern longer! How did you sew the sleeve of lining to sleeve of coat? Patterns always say to finish connecting by hand. I love your coat and your cute little Barrett
Beautiful! This is what I would love to have too, I have such little sewing experience that I'm afraid it would turn out a mess, but... Maybe I could try a mock one first using scraps or something..
This couldn't be more perfect... Wonderful job 😍😍😍😍😍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

this is such a great coat! and I love the hat to go with it! so impressed! super cute!

Daammm!!! This is the most beautiful coat ever 😍

My machine has the pull-down-bit, but it won't sew a buttonhole unless it's down so I can't forget it. Quite a handy feature 😊
Sometimes I need to reduce the foot pressure a bit to solve the same problem, especially if the fabric is rough and thick.
Isn't it nice to have new fabric scissors? Love your new sewing machine - looking forward to many new projects.
Beautiful coat and beret!! Be proud of your work. You did that!!!
This coat is adorable 😍
I hope you enjoy your new sewing machine! I've used others, but have been using a Brother one for years (much less fancy, though!), and it has been my favorite so far. 😊
Hopefully it will be a wonderful pal for all your vintage sewing!
WOW!! What an accomplishment. I am so impressed! I want one now lol!! It's absolutely beautiful well done!!!!
I think they mean the inside of the collar would be the underside of the collar and the topside of the collar is called outside..if the hood is not being worn and laying flat on your back the collar should be over the edges. Congratulations 🎉 Beautiful coat❤
