First off, what an awesome and informative video! I just wanted to let any high school seniors know that I am currently going through the interview process for PA school and have gone through things such as research, shadowing, PCE, and the GRE. I am part of an organization called MED-ED and we are a group of students from different medical backgrounds that come and speak to high school students from medically underserved areas about different careers in healthcare. I am obviously the PA student representative of the group but we have students that represent the M.D, D.O, P.A, OTD, R.N, and N.P professions. We are based in Pittsburgh and would love to come and speak to schools about medical-related careers but we also do Zoom meetings at any school in the country! We talk about the differences between professions such as responsibilities, education requirements, and compensation. On top of all of that, we walk you through step by step on the process of becoming a P.A or any other medical professional! If any of you are interested you can follow us on Instagram @ _med_ed and message us! we would love to hear from all our future healthcare professionals! Thanks for reading!

I received an interview from a program that has a rolling basis admission and they said it was scheduled two days later at 8AM. Is that unusual? I thought it was a pretty late notice. I haven't heard back from other programs yet as they start offering interviews end of January until end of March.

Hi! So I don’t know if you’ll be able to answer this question but I decided it was worth a try 😂 I was wondering, do Nurse Practitioners assist during surgery (like PAs do, in terms of being on site and possibly closing the wound)? I am actually a nursing student right now, and during my clinical rotations for nursing I had the opportunity to do an OR rotation and completely fell in love. I never thought I’d want to do anything with the OR but turns out I love it! My only concern is that I haven’t seen any Nurse Practitioners assist surgeons, while I’ve seen multiple PAs doing the job that I want to do. Being in nursing school and so close to graduating, I don’t want to just drop everything and start PA school without knowing details. So I was wondering, do you know anything about NPs doing the same thing PAs would do in surgery? Sorry if it’s a really far-fetched question! Thank you!

Bogdana Gruntovskaya tbh PA’s are generally favored by surgeons in this specialty

Bogdana Gruntovskaya Yes, NPs can work in surgery! Like mentioned above, PAs might have a slight edge, but don’t let that stop you 👍

Thank you! To put it into perspective for me, how often do NPs get the job? Sorry for so many questions, I just want to put everything into perspective for myself!

Bogdana Gruntovskaya honestly, still being a student, that’s hard for me to answer! I did quickly google NP surgery jobs and there are a lot where I’m located! CT surgery, gen surg, ortho, etc. The opportunities are out there!

Thank you! That’s actually really great because I’m located in the same place. I actually live in Kentucky!

So as a student on rotations in my family medicine block, we saw a lot of kids who were being cared for by their grandparents and one day it was getting late in the afternoon and a kid came in with an older appearing adult. I just automatically referred to him as his grandfather when it was actually his dad. Totally awkward following...
