This week I am tackling the impossible, by turning this into that featuring me turing a store bough grocery store cake into an epic rainbow pride month cake cake. The grocery store cake was iced in whipped buttercream icing and I am going to use that frosting to ice the cake in a rainbow flag fault line cake design. This DIY Pride cake was so easy to make. I will show you how to create a blended rainbow patter on the inside of the cake using frosting then cover that in dark black chocolate buttercream icing. Let's do this!

I like that you're very real. You don't show this "wow amazing perfect cake transformation" with music and fast cuts, you show your thought process, your own self doubts, the chaos, and I love that because this is absolutely me when I bake. When people don't show all the inbetween headache I feel like they "make baking look easy" and it's insulting if that makes sense.
That's something I've struggled with SO much being self taught! Every time I try to learn a new technique I can see where they're leaving out crutial points and hiding things. No one's perfect, and no CAKE is perfect either! We're all just out here doing our best 💖

I do this for red, burgundy and dark purple. You do not have to use as much food color because the frosting base is already dark and it tastes better...its chocolate 😂

the flag you showed is called the progress flag, and it is the rainbow flag + black and brown and the trans flag. i think the flag you're thinking of is the philadelphia pride flag, which is the rainbow with extra stripes for black and brown people. either is valid, and there are a lot of different flags so it can be confusing! they both remind us that diversity is a core strength of the lgbtqia+ community, and there can be no real inclusion without intersectionality :) this is also why we fight to make pride more accessible, less corporatized/militarized, and fun for everyone!

@@stacey4758 no, you’re misunderstanding the reason for it being included. Adding the brown stripe doesn’t at all mean that we are excluding white people or light skinned people from Pride or from the community, it’s added because in this community people of color are often excluded, underrepresented, and face higher rates of violence and harm than any other identities do. Black and brown trans women face the highest rates of murder, some of the highest compared to any other demographic. Adding the brown stripe is a way to show that we both 1) understand that this is their current reality and 2) are standing firmly beside them in their fight for equality until that is no longer their reality.

Hi! So I’m a hair dresser who used to decorate cakes. I struggled to dye white icing black ALL THE TIME. Finally, one day I took hair color strategy into thought and I added a few drops of RED to the black (because when you’re coloring light hair black, you have to fill it with red to get the underlying pigments). Worked wonders. 😊

Here's a hack; many big grocery stores will sell you the cake without it being iced so you can cut your waste down by a lot.

Can you please do a grocery store cake transformation into a Disney cake! It doesn't have to be an all princess cake it can include some like marvel characters or monsters inc characters. It doesn't have to be those specifically but I would love to see you make it your own!

Oh my god, this cake is epic.
1. The black and brown tones on the progress flag stand for poc within the community! 2. To get black frosting without making it chocolate, dye your frosting as black as you can, then melt for 30 sec and let it return to normal consistency! Blackest black frosting, viola!
Does it taste bitter?
When I took an icing course we were warned that too much black coloring made the frosting taste bitter.
Never thought of using chocolate as a beginning.
@@joanneperry8021 I've never heard that before! One time before I heard of melting it my grey (supposed to be black) frosting tasted kind of weird, so I suppose that was why. I assumed the food coloring went bad or something. But no, in my experience because you only have to use a bit of coloring before you melt it, it tastes fine.
Why didn't you put straws in the cake? Do you only need to do that when there are different sizes?

i wish i could give you advice on how to come out, but i don’t really have experience on it. i would just recomend you to not feel forced to do it. for example, i’ve planned that if i ever get a partner that isn’t a man i will just present them to my family like it is something normal -because it is.

I came out as transgender by just telling my grandparents first, who I trusted the most, at the dinner table. They helped my come out to the rest of my family. There is no right way to do it, though. Whatever is most comfortable to you

i was decorating cupcakes noot to long ago, i was trying to get gray, so i did 1 drop black food coloring with like 150ish grams of icing, it was black and i mean black black :( why is it so easy to get black?? XD
