I remember being pissed too because Liu Kang was my favorite character, and now i had to find a new main to use. I didnt believe they actually killed him until i actually got to the character select screen and he wasnt there,lol. That really set the tone for the game and let you know that the Deadly alliance was not to be fucked with and meant business. The game wasnt the best but i do actually liked the bold steps they took in a lot of ways with it.
Liu Kang may have been the champion of 2 Mortal Kombat tournaments but narratively speaking, he always took a backseat to Scorpion, Sub-Zero, & Raiden.

I think Deception was the last "good" character selection song. Deception, Deadly Alliance, MK4, MK3, MK2, and MK1 all had great songs. MKA, MKvsDC, and MK9 were all meh in terms of the music on select screen. Hope MKX brings it back.

The fact that NRS Made the deadly Alliance win in the end killing off the some of the heros making other story intertwine to each other and the endings sound dark tone to it really wish we had something likes this back 3d Era will always be the best

For me it was the voices in the background which I think were meant to sound like wandering souls being captured by Shang Tsung. It wasn't the music at all, just the noises.

Armageddon was okay, it had a nice Konquest mode and Motor Kombat was pretty fun but everything else lacked tremendously. Funny memory of me being a dumb ass teen while playing this game: I was playing this game back in 05 because Deception has yet to come out. I got hyper for some reason and once I go on the character screen and hear this song, I feel like I want to kick ass. I turn the volume up, get up and throw some punches and kicks in the air because I'm thinking I'm badass. I run across the room doing a half-ass jump kick, I crash into the cabinet and it falls on top of me. While I'm down there thinking what the fuck was I thinking, the game chose Bo Rai Cho for me. How coincidental because Bo Rai Cho was a drunken idiot and I was a teenage idiot. Those good ol' days.

Shumunya Cho My bad, you are correct. That time, I was fixated on GTA San Andreas in the fall of 04. I got MGS3 for my birthday and I was hooked. I rented DA for Christmas that year and liked it so much I bought it. I didn't get Deception until summer of 05.
There was an eeriness to MK back then that's just missing from the newer games. I remember I used to be terrified whenever I saw a fatality since MK2. Now, even though the combat is better, it just feels like a bloodier MCU movie.
The atmosphere and lore definitely started feeling more like MCU after the reboot. I wish they'd go back to the edgy and gritty way 3d era was and ditch the way the story modes are designed while at it

I miss the old MK producers. The same music team from MK1 up until MKvDC. Mortal Kombat always had its own sound. I hope they bring the original music team back for MK12.

Idk who they got to do the ost for the ps2 mortal Kombat games, but they need to give them a raise. All the music from those games was fucking fire. The music from the modern games lack the same character and intensity.
Greatness through limitation. No live instruments are needed to make good and interesting music. In fact, the more resources they've gained, the blander the music has become.
It was going downhill since Armageddon, this game revived the franchise. Also Midway was not doing good since Mortal Kombat was their main source of income.
KENSHI... Probably the best received new character from that game. Heck Kenshi is my all time favorite, followed closely by Smoke, Sub-Zero and then Scorpion

Funny memory of me being a dumb ass teen while playing this game: I was playing this game back in 05 because Deception has yet to come out. I got hyper for some reason and once I go on the character screen and hear this song, I feel like I want to kick ass. I turn the volume up, get up and throw some punches and kicks in the air because I'm thinking I'm badass. I run across the room doing a half-ass jump kick, I crash into the cabinet and it falls on top of me. While I'm down there thinking what the fuck was I thinking, the game chose Bo Rai Cho for me. How coincidental because Bo Rai Cho was a drunken idiot and I was a teenage idiot. Those good ol' days.

M Hale It was but I thought Bo Rai Cho was pretty funny. My dad use to play me in this game and Bo Rai Cho was one of his favorite, he thought he was halarious. I'm actually glad they brought him back.

Shumunya Cho My bad, you are correct. That time, I was fixated on GTA San Andreas in the fall of 04. I got MGS3 for my birthday and I was hooked. I rented DA for Christmas that year and liked it so much I bought it. I didn't get Deception until summer of 05.

There was an eeriness to MK back then that's just missing from the newer games.
I remember I used to be terrified whenever I saw a fatality since MK2. Now, even though the combat is better, it just feels like a bloodier MCU movie.
The atmosphere and lore definitely started feeling more like MCU after the reboot. I wish they'd go back to the edgy and gritty way 3d era was and ditch the way the story modes are designed while at it

I miss the old MK producers. The same music team from MK1 up until MKvDC. Mortal Kombat always had its own sound. I hope they bring the original music team back for MK12.

Back when mortal kombat was dark and serious. Now the new games just feel like loot creates and character designs don't look the same. Back then the mk characters looked menecing and horrifying.

MK was literally at the edge of a bankrupt (MK4, Special Forces, Annihilation, Mythologies and Tobias getting out of Midway happened in literally a row), this game had to sell well, otherwise, the franchise would have died
I know that MK almost died after Armageddon and DC Universe until MK9, but that was the second time. And after the flop MK1 has been, who knows if this franchise is gonna survive longer

It was going downhill since Armageddon, this game revived the franchise.
Also Midway was not doing good since Mortal Kombat was their main source of income.

I've never played MKDA but since i saw the endings, read the storyline and heard the ost it has become my favorite MK. It's just so bad-ass.
KENSHI... Probably the best received new character from that game. Heck Kenshi is my all time favorite, followed closely by Smoke, Sub-Zero and then Scorpion

Kenshi was the best Debut Character in MK 5 & then became one of the highly fan favs..the ending credits with Kenshi🔥🔥..hopefully Kenshi & Takeda both return in MK 12
Li Mei gameplay wise was a decent I would like what they would to to her if she was in a modern MK game
