    1:58 rubber grips are on two legs only to lit this little buble in mind that these should be facing you while naked leg should stick most-front to make tripod most stable. It's often neglected and risks whole set to fall in some heavier setups.

  • @lis6502
    @lis6502 2 роки тому +1

    2:35 it's not to have "independently level" tripod and head, but while shooting panoramas tripod MUST be level to maintain same angle against surface. Throwing tripod as is and leveling on head is okay for single shots, wherever you're trying to stitch panoramas you might find whole shot to wobble across whole 360 deg of rotation.

    i got a question about remove the camera from the head, i can remove the camera ONLY rotating the lever"H" WITHOUT pushing down safety lever "i", do you think that is OK? ( when i rotating H and move up and down the camera and without pushing down safety lever i, then camera is released)

    • @anthonyshearin4603

      Assume you have your answer by now but just in case. There is a small set screw under the base where you attach the tripod head. It's silver and has a slot for a flat head screw driver. This screw is used to lock the head base in place. Try untightening this screw and you should be able to remove the head.

    Hi...that was a great video showing the basic usage and features of this tripod. I just want to know whether a Camcorder like Sony PXW X70 can be used on the horizontal arm for filming overhead videos ?

    • @ScottDumas

      Hi! I think that could manage, but you'll definitely want to be careful to counterweight it for safety.

    Do you think this 3 way head could be also used for video to some extent. Not ideal of course, but any chance of smooth pans? Thanks!

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  7 років тому

      Igor Lavresh I'd say you could do much worse. Like you said, it's not ideal (there's not much resistance on the pan axis so nice pans will require a bit of effort/focus from the operator) but at least you can adjust each axis independently, it does move smoothly and you can easily keep it all level. For it's compact size and reasonable price I think it does just fine :)

    Hi Scott. First of all thanks for all the informative reviews. I would like to know one thing about it.Will it be able to carry Canon 5Dmark iv and 70-200 heavy lens easily? Please let me know.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  6 років тому +2

      Hi! Thanks for watching! Ignore my first reply if you happened to see it, haha.
      This should be fine with the 5D IV and 70-200, I never had any issues myself. Make sure to tighten it down very tightly though if you're booming the camera out to the side and definitely use something to weigh it down in the center. :)

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much! You definitely could. You'd need a phone clamp, something with a screw thread in the bottom so that you could attach the tripod's quick release plate for mounting :)

    Hi great video, any compatible and ball head you can suggest with these tripod?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 роки тому

      Hi! Thanks so much :) I think it would definitely depend on what your needs are. If you already have another tripod with an Arca-swiss style quick release system for example, it would be good to get another with that same design. Generally, that's a popular style quick release plate for ball heads even if it's not the real Arca Swiss brand (which are expensive). If you search Amazon for ball head and find something that has a weight capacity of about 1.5-2x the weight of your camera, you should have no problem. If you want to spend more money of course there are some great choices like the Arca Swiss p0, which I use myself and I love it, but if you want to save money for now most options will probably be very similar.
      I personally am not a huge fan of Manfrotto heads- they can be good, like this pan/tilt head for example, but they're often a bit big and clunky when other smaller and simpler designs also exist. If you want a true video style head some of the best values I've used myself are the iFootage K5 and K7, depending on your needs and camera weight.
      Anyway- sorry for an overly complex answer, but basically any ball head on Amazon that fits the weight capacity you need should do the trick. I hope that helps!

    How portable is this and how would you rate it for real estate and architecture photography?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      It's not the most compact I've seen if that's what is important for you. Something from MeFoto might be a better bet, at least within the tripods I've used. I don't imagine the tilting design is necessary for real estate photography. I'm not a specialist in that area, but I'd think just something solid would be most important. Luckily if you aren't in very challenging environments, that can be easy to find... and while this could do the trick, I think it's more tailored to things like tabletop or macro photography. Something more simple might be better.

      Thanks for reply. Any idea why my Canon RP RAW images won’t open on my MAC? JPEGs do.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому

      RAW images will need a RAW processor to open them, like Lightroom or Capture One. There are some other programs available as well but you won't be able to open them without one.

    • @jeffrobins5200
      @jeffrobins5200 5 років тому

      Scott Dumas usually I can open RAW files in Photos. I can’t open them in Luminar either. Thinking of downloading Adobe Camera Raw.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  5 років тому +1

      Ah, well that's most likely just because the RP is very new... even lightroom/capture one etc usually has problems opening new files for the first week or two when a new camera is released. I'd say give it time and updates will address the issue, but for now something like Camera Raw can work, or even process them with Canon's own software. It's pretty terrible, but it will work until everything else is updated.

    how can i remove the head?

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 роки тому

      You should be able to just twist it off (unscrew it) as long as the pan axis lock is tighened down so that it doesn't just spin freely.

    Its not necessary you should have the third leg in front of the tripod and rubberized legs at rear

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  4 роки тому

      Yeah but that's not always how I grab it when taking it out from the case or grabbing it from my car... not so much that it's necessary I just feel like it's a waste to not include it. The tripod isn't necessarily always facing the same way anyway.

    They use only 2 grips cause their function is to save your hands in an hot days when the sun can make the tripod untouchable....2 hands, 2 grip; make sense.

    • @ScottDumas
      @ScottDumas  6 років тому +1

      Luciano Di Gennaro I get why they exist I just don’t get why they couldn’t add a 3rd... those two legs aren’t always the ones closest to you/most convenient, on top if it’s laying down etc... not like it makes things impossible at all it just seemed like a weird omission.
