Thanks for posting! This is a great performance, and we are fortunate to have it. To the people complaining about the mix, please keep in mind that amplifying instruments is very different between the stage and the studio. Also, we do not know how the sound for this video was recorded--open air mic, soundboard, or some combination. So give the guy a break and enjoy this for what it is: a great moment that was captured and provided to you for free!
I agree. I have listened to this session continuously for two weeks as I write a book. It is inspirational. Every time I listen I find something new. This is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard in any genre.
Aaron Parks works very well with Kurt R. 2 of my favorite musicians. Nice to know they sound great together. It would be a dream to see Kurt and Aaron join forces like Metheny and Mays and do their version of the Pat Metheny Group.
Aaron Parks and kurt have played together for years. What a connection there is between them. If you haven’t already check out His earlier stuff w Mark Turner. If you have, you know.
second tune, polish song, or something like that . solo guitar piece on his first record enemies of energy, or something like that . loved it then beautiful arrangement of a beautiful song
Beautiful. Thanks for posting Valerio. I agree with Kriss that the high hat is a bit distracting. But I like how the bass is miked. I can't even hear it on some of these You Tube recordings. Overall this is another beautiful performance by Kurt.
First tune is one of Kurt's - it's called "Cycle 5" - moves around in fifths. It's actually some years old, i think. Heard it on some recordings from 2005, but he has been playing it recently.
Yep! Thanks for posting Valerio. Beautiful version of Shifting Design. Wish the full thing was here :) I'm not familiar w/ the first tune, but I think it was my favorite from these three. It makes me wanna keep on marchin', if you now what i mean. Very "anthemic." I'm assuming it's a new tune from Kurt or Aaron, but if someone knows where I could find a recording of it (aside from here, of course...), and could reply to this post, I'd appreciate it. Peace...
I don't know who have mixed this, but there is way too much hi-hat in the mix and in general the sound is very bright, missing some warmth(or just too much brightness). A bit annoying listening to all the hi-hat and there is no need of putting a delay or reverb with some weird effects on piano, not cool. Next time just use a nice reverb! Thanks!
And reverb on drums? Amm, why? Also some weird effect, like really long pre-delay on the reverb panned left or smth., just destroying the music. I am sure it sounds better just dry!
+Kriss Veismanis I can hear what you're writing about. There is an overall greatness in the music itself, though. I'm especially enjoying 18:28 which suits me at all levels. What's the name of the tune beginning at 18:28? Also, small kit, huge drummer. What kind of hat is Kurt wearing? Might want one like that for this winter.
+jazz4asahel It would be way better without some effects, which destroy the music they are making. That's exactly the thing, music is so great, so there is no point of adding useless effects, I think it would be way more pleasent just without any "mixing" if it goes that much wrong.
Ha ha ha, I can't believe that Kurt is allowing his beautiful music to be available on UA-cam with such a schizophrenic sound mix. Or maybe He doesn't know...

grazie per il tuo commento positivo; sono contento che apprezzi questo video del bravo Kurt e coll.

Thanks for the compliment. I am very happy in the drawer I have more than an hour of the same concert by Kurt. sooner or later I put them online
That would be awesome if you post it. Thank you Valerio.
Wow! What a great new band! Aaron Parks is a great piano player.
Thank you so much, I just keep coming back. How they play together is a breath of fresh air.
30 minutes of new quartet in HD? this is a very good day lol. thanks!!!!

love the ensemble version of the polish song. such a beautiful song recorded on enemies of energy
these guys support each other so much. THAT brings the best out in you. Choose your friends wisely.
So much Keith Jarrett in Aaron's playing (on the 2nd tune)... Beautiful, inspired and powerful.
Beautiful! Thanks for posting.

Amazing band indeed🙏🌞
0:15-20 = those 'impressionistic minor patterns' on Aaron's warm-up :)
Magnífico !!✨
Cuarteto elegante.

this is fabulous stuff - just great!!
Allan Mednard is fantastic. Puzzled why no one is talking about him in the comments.
Hello! Can anyone give me the names of the songs?
Thanks Valeria Giulianelli. Thanks to the musicians. What is the tune at 18:28? Straight-ahead driving with everyone shining.
"A Shifting Design" from Kurt's album The Next Step
First tune is one of Kurt's - it's called "Cycle 5" - moves around in fifths. It's actually some years old, i think. Heard it on some recordings from 2005, but he has been playing it recently.
***** Thanks Lassesteff :)
Wonderful tune.
which recording?
Seems to be adapted from a part of a Yes band' song, from the album "Going for the one" !....
Big thanks for information!! Been searching everywhere!!!
This is a complement- Aaron sounds like he’s listened (a lot) to Keith’s playing on the Charles Lloyd albums.
Grazie Valerio Giulianelli via Tuscia in Jazz : "Kurt Rosenwinkel New Quartet con Aaron Parks, Orlando Le Fleming, Allan Mednard." 🎼🎹🎺🎸🌺🎧🎼💖🎼
vous êtes très gentil
Oui, c'est vrai parfois je suis gentille "..°-
Shoot, Allan Mednard... Damn, that's what you've been up to. Tasty as all heck!
Yep! Thanks for posting Valerio. Beautiful version of Shifting Design. Wish the full thing was here :)

Might be a tune from his unreleased album 'Under It All'.
Cycle five
@@jonasmartinsen3439 You are the man! I wonder if it was called that back then. Thank you, Jonas.
What is the name of the first song?
Cycle five
@@ObZzErVeR Any idea, if there exists a studio recording of it?
@@paulandrew3284 Not in any official releases...I think there's another live version available though
thanks for posting!!! Kurt is unbelievable, Which guitar he plays?
Michael Vogt, Duisburg - Gitarre Moffa, italian luthier.
Mike Hawk thanks for this inforamtion
bla,bla ... whatever! Nowadays he plays a Westville guitar from Japan!
Can someone tell me if the first tune have a name and if it is on a album? Just love it!
Maybe a tune from his unreleased album 'Under It All'.
Cycle five
ka pai very good
It is not often you get to hear electric guitar fronting a jazz quartet
First tune sounds like something from his now legendary, yet still unreleased album 'Under It All'.
Good = Super .
Academy Award for Best Cinematography lol ... great concert

After 14 mins I can't listen anymore! The sound is too annoying, this hi-hat and long pre-delay/delay/wrong track allignment just killed it!
do not listen. listening to another type of music on youtube. It is not required to see this video. if you like to listen to it otherwise changes

Are there any tech nerds out there who can tell me what that monstrosity of a pedal board contains?
ReviloIlio Likely delay, chorus, reverb, maybe even drive and compressor, his website might go into some detail.
Modern replacement for Metheny & Mays.
no entiendo tener 50 pedales para tocar algo que no se escucha .. para lo que hace le basta un delay y un compresor.. todo lo demas? es challa
Mezclado por un Baterista.
Ha ha ha, I can't believe that Kurt is allowing his beautiful music to be available on UA-cam with such a schizophrenic sound mix. Or maybe He doesn't know...
It's certainly a pretty terrible mix.
Magnífico !!✨
