- Detailed look at the Chuggington Wooden Railway which is very impressive indeed. Direct comparisons are done against the Thomas and Friend empire. Now via magnetic coupling Thomas can play with Chuggington. I also take a look at the Chuggington track pack and find out a serious flaw in the wheel and track combination.

Channels entering can choose to autoplay this Chuggington Wooden Review, I will be perusing those who enter and taking note of who is autoplaying this video on their channel. Bonus points will be awarded if I see a channel supporting this video.
Please submit via video response to this video a short video detailing what happens to Thomas Tank when he was taken away by Brewster as seen in the intro to this video. Your entry MUST INCLUDE both Thomas Tank and Brewster. If you do not have Brewster paint up something which clearly represents him remembering he has a yellow nose and blue body. I am not asking anyone to purchase toys to enter.
To score good points what's really important in this contest is your story making sure Thomas and Brewster have clear roles to play. In no way is this a contest about amazing video production or special effects.

@DAVE01568 pt2, in my reading about Autism I noticed that sometimes LEGO is used as a tool to assist children who have Autism, due to it's non rigid playing and building.
I also met a boy at my daughters school who has mild autism and sure he has a train fixation, he also watches my videos as well. It was amazing the information he has stored up about my videos.
Yes I am always pulling toys apart, those screwdriver shots are in loads of videos, thanks for being so open about your son.
That explains why I love legos
Chuggington may be alluring to the eye and ear with its bright colors and pompous characters, but Thomas, I feel, will always be #1.
@LegoFreak4842 thomas did have a advantage of being on the right side, if you watch the way he picked up toys in the previous video he tends to favour pick ups on the right side using his right hand

One of my favorite chuggington characters is Zephie. She is one of the cutest characters in my opinion. Her face almost reminds me of Tiny Kong from the Donkey Kong games.
@martin0mac2000 maybe I will do a video of a few chuggers and thomas wood in a cement mixer with some gravel to see who comes out looking better!
the chuggers stuff looks very robust, and interesting no one wants to talk which one presents the better value
@SnowflakeTH i am hoping that by changing action chuggers paint scheme and adding a face I have made him as popular as thomas tank, maybe this reveals a aspects to the magic pulling power of thomas on a childs mind

@BeanMeister22 Chuggers have a HUGE job on their hands to win over the giant Thomas army which literally has multiple generations of fans and some are now parents. This wooden range by Chuggington is I feel their strongest product BUT their toys seem to be very difficult to find for many as lots of tubers have reported to me this franchise is still not available in their country. That has surprised me indeed.

@WarlordSh4Dow just on reviews I moved into that as i felt there were many very poor reviews going on, especially ones not pointing out the issues with toys, i'm about to do a lego V megablocks and I can tell you it will be a massive eye opener in many ways.
any toy franchise who are taking the buying public for a ride is in my eager sights, not sure if you notice the core backbone to my channel are videos crafted around a consumer affairs topics, which I take very seriously.

Rothkopf had previously been the chairman of Learning Curve International, a company which designed and manufactured educational toys. Caminada and Lawes had previously been executives for HiT Entertainment, the distribution company behind Bob the Builder and Thomas and Friends.

At first, the competition between both Wooden Railways was like Hot Wheels and Matchbox, since they were both made by Learning Curve. Now, it is now true competition between both Wooden Railways. As for the bigger and smaller sizes for both (Trackmaster/Interactive and Take-n-Play/Die Cast) were already true competition since they were already made by two different companies, Learning Curve and Mattel.

@001lightyear thanks for your thoughts here and I certainly respect your words. It's really important to have comments for and against both toys, considering chuggers literally cloned the thomas wooden style i can't looks at these chuggers without engaging the thomas models
@Nictrain123 yes it is open to 3D entries, I expect to see Brewster as Brewster in the 3D entries
i just thought back on how many videos of yours i watch each week a few minutes after i posted the comment below where i began with so the age old question, and i realized i normally watch about 90 a week. i have lots of time to spend on youtube after school so i get to watch a lot of your videos and i have even longer on saturdays and sunday after i get back from church. i rewatch alot of your videos over and over. i am definitley all thumbs up on your all your videos!! major fan!!!

Only 5 entries have earned bonus points, those entering in the last days only receive half the bonus points compared to those who entered earlier
So straight up the contest is down to very few entries, to win you really have to follow the rules.
@DAVE01568 I have to say the quality of entries in this contest has been excellent, it's going to be a really difficult contest to judge.

it does seem like a fail contest, not many tubers interested in entering, one good aspect is all the entries so far have been amazingly good and that's really nice to see.
always remembering the key to winning is in the story, it has nothing to do with the production values of the video..!
a good story will always in the end be a winner!

@DAVE01568 a very small number of people entered this contest, so this makes it very exciting, I will really miss my custom Action Thomas, just hope it's going to a home which will love him for what he is.

@DAVE01568 pt1 thanks for your comment, I get lots of PM's on the details of Autism in children who watch my videos, I was first made aware of this around 3 years ago by a boys mum in the USA. She detailed to me the frequency of viewing her son did on my videos
That led me on a bit of a learning curve on Autism as I really did not understand how widespread it is. I also noticed that Thomas and Friends support this and they are well aware of the association of Autism and trains with children.
@zachinger i did give thomas a slight advantage to be set on the right side, i noticed in the previous pick up video he favored the right side for pick up
but I never expected him to pay with these toys with equal respect, this was not seen in the other video

@thomasandferdinand14 like all my contests it will play out for a few months, BUT if it looks like a failed contest I will close it early. I have done this before so my advice is don't rush but also don't delay!
@berboma i see via the CGI they can do storied like Splish, Splash, Splosh, which would be difficult with models, but I fell the real action and great crashes have gone from the series which were great in the stories done with models.
I'm also not comfortable with the crazy virtual camera positions used in the CGI version
my heart is with the great model work which built the Thomas a fantastic empire to sell toys, dare say those days are now in the past.
@cubeproduktion whats your thoughts on the new Thomas sets with loads of plastic in them, how much plastic to you need before a railway stops being called wooden?
i know the chuggers playsets are super loaded with plastic

you can use any style of railway you have, and Brewster can be made of anything as long as he's blue and yellow

I have been getting some questions why the tuber Thomas4trainz was pulled from the contest.
This tuber asked me to remove his first entry and that was done, he had a second entry which had a running time of 14 mins, this was removed from the contest as I can't class that as a short video which is stipulated in the contest info.
This tubers first entry was amazing to watch but lacked a vital element which it needed to be successful. He's blocked until after the contest closes.
@123ilikelego interesting... there are some characters who always seem to miss the boat, and then there are the missing in action characters who you just don't see anymore.
i think from the latest sets getting about in the take along series Percy seems to be the main in set character.
in the trackmaster Thomas is the most featured character.
the tender engines tend to always be left out of playsets
Chuggington uses diesel engines as part of the main cast. I've seen one episode, which lacked the steam characters, so I'm unsure how far they go with said appeal of railroads. I think Chuggington is pretty remarkable with it's merchandise though; they sure do know how to appeal to children, and making their products newer and edgier than Thomas. I think Merchandise is going to be a key point in the battle between the two shows. Chuggington has its edge, but how long can it last?
@DAVE01568 I just did the bonus points check, as it stands now only 5 entries had the contest video up as autoplay, I left comments on all the channels, dare say it's a wake up call for some but it comes too late.
those entering in the final days receive a reduced credit of bonus points if they are seen to autoplay the video
@simierski the big question is which company takes me to court for this cross over, it seems thats the thing some tubers are alerting me to these days
interesting how little people like to fell large trees, possibly they have far too much time on their hands or take out their lack of success on someone else
@guyoffun he knows where it is, thats seen in a previous video and certainly well covered!, but when Action Chugger is dressed as Thomas he did not go for the sound button.
In the choice test I can't instruct him in any way, it's all his choices without instruction

@illiniguy34 i don't mind the in between series where the trains had moving faces on real models, in a way it was the best of both worlds but would have incurred extra production costs as both CGI and model departments would be costly
dare say the answer was eliminate one department and look what we have today

When I started watching this video I tried to remember the reason why I sub'd to you, and I honestly couldn't remember... I know it was before you were doing so many reviews. But the reason really doesn't matter any more cause I've found an awesome tuber that just keeps on producing awesome content!

My two year old wanted to look at the Chuggingtons this morning at Target (in the US) now that they are compatible with his Thomas collection. We couldn't find them and the salesperson told us that there may be some Chuggs in the clearance section, but Target is no longer going to be carrying Chuggington at all!

@DAVE01568 i don't choose who watches my videos, why would the hard core Thomas army ever watch a Chuggers video. I'll be honest here I rarely ever see positive comments related to Chuggers
Maybe consider there is a third force on the tube, and it's something which we are witness to every day of our lives. In a way it has transformed youtube compared to it's format from a few years back.
Possibly best way for all of us to see a comment is leave it on my channel I will remove the approve comment filter, please do not PM me on this as I want the Thomas community to see all the thoughts you have here.

It's interesting, the note on colour. Working on a preserved line I can say that any small blue engine is Thomas, any large blue engine is Gordon and a red engine is James, James being the most distinctive, the only standard gauge red engine in Thomas. We have an engine of the same type Pete Sam is based upon and with slightly older kids I try to explain this, "Pete Sam's brother," or similar but I don't think the style is distinct enough for them to see it, colour is far more important.

I have judged all 29 entries, youtube simierski will also fill out a judging form.
I judged these entries without looking at the video but listened carefully to the story, there are two outstanding entries BUT only one followed the rule of having this video as autoplay on their channel, only 9 out of 29 entries complied with the autoplay aspect to entering, again it looks like it will decide the fate of who wins
I looked a week before close and a week after when checking for autoplay
Olwin is my favorite character from Chuggington because I love to make her into Spencer from Thomas & Friends all the time
I recently paid a visit to hobbytown usa here in tennessee in the us. This hobbytown store was in johnson city tn. They have wooden chuggington toys there.

@Trainmaster189 franchise bloat is something I don't like about thomas, do we need all these variants of what is essentially the same thing?
the thomas wooden (all metal) powered is not good, and i have covered this before, thomas wooden does lack the fine details that chggington have done so nicely, and usually detail equates to expense
Chuggers in order are Old Puffer Pete, Koko, Brewster, Wilson, Olwin, Mtambo and Irving.
The reason for lack of sleepers on the track is probably due to the fact that on the Chuggington show, the tracks to not have sleepers, but instead have a flat base from which the rails rise. This can be seen particularly well in episodes in which the track is being replaced, such as 'Hodge and the Magnet' and 'Quiz Master Hodge'.

this contest is all about your story, in a way it's the easiest contest I have held for the Thomas fans. I know many fear they will be smothered by those who make amazing looking content, I also know so many have excellent story telling ability and this contest is for them.

in the end he played with them as if they were twins, who would have thought I could pull a chugger to be as popular as thomas in my sons eyes

I'm gonna give a suprising thing here, Tomy Thomas is back! (Technicially) Tomy bought RC2/Learning Curve which makes Thomas and chuggington! So, we have Thomas toys made by a company run by Tomy!

I'm really glad ya got around to taking a look at these chuggington toys, my only gripe about them is that they're all tha same size and that their expensive to me, (yeah, I'm a cheapskate) XPI use to collect thomas wooden rwailway toys when I was little but now I stick with bachmann, hornby and maybe tomy/trackmaster

@meg0n00by well tell me who do you think is the winner, remembering the rules of the contest, are both characters involved in the video?, does the story have a end result?, does the story stand out all alone without needing to watch the video?
It is a story strength contest and visual content is not part of the score, there is another tuber looking over the videos as well to assist me in finding a winner.
