ABOUT
Mortalis is a 4-piece metal band formed in 2015 by members Luis Velasquez (Drums), Sergio Montes de Oca(Lead Guitar/Vocals) and Vincente ‘Grim’ Avalos (Bass) with the addition of Austin Spencer (Rhythm-Guitar) 2 years later.
The band is heavily inspired by early thrash and NWOBHM bands such as Metallica, Anthrax, Diamond Head, Judas Priest, Slayer, Testament, Annihilator, Motorhead and so on. Their goal is simple; to share the stage with fans of all backgrounds as far and for as long as they can.
Still active in the local scene, they set their sights to the future as they have just released their debut album “From the Cryogenics” on the 30th of December 2021 and are currently one of 18 bands selected for the first round of Wacken’s Battle of the Bands on February 5th at the world-famous Viper Room.

This is amazing, great song structures, melody & power. Love the vocals, everything works well together, a real band. Top class thrash from a new wave band, the production is top class too! You need to change your logo to do justice for your music, the rest of the album artwork is cool though. 10 skulls out of 10 for the music.

@@thrashgod1189 I find the ascenders & descenders of the M and S are too long, they could do with being a bit shorter. The kerning could be slightly bigger & more curves added into the type font. The width of the letters differ creating an inconsistency. These are my constructive criticisms and my personal preferences, as I said, I think this band are amazing.

*Outstanding guitar work
*A singer who can actually sing
*Good songwriting
* Solid bass and drumming
THE CONS
*Some of the riffs are derivative
*The bass is too loud in the mix - at times it distracts from the guitar riffs and songs
*The guitar solos are a little excessive at times
*The lyrics are pretty uninspired and sophomoric. The Metal Way sounds like something a 13 year-old would write.
Very good album overall - I give it a B-

Really nice! Good, but not unique sounds. Bass player knows what to do! Before scrolling down the page, I thought there is somethin' Diamond Head in this. Well there is, and that's a good thing. Keep up the good work!!! And keep on rocking and rolling!!!

Yes,vinyl-head. It's too expensive and the wait for pressing is ASTONISHING. I'd be more surprised they didn't do a cassette run,cheaper and they sell like cds...

We just did a test run with only CD’s because we did not at all expect to get as much love and support for this project as we are currently thanks to peeps and metal heads like you! If things continue the way they are vinyls are def in the cards within the next month or so.

@@Phantasm2Cuda What he mentioned is genuinely something we considered and was a big reason for not coming out with vinyls right out of the gate. Cutting out the insult, Im sure the dude's heart was in the right place
The business side of making a record has been a wild ride from the start especially since we released and supervised everything independently without a label. Honestly though thank you for your interest in wanting a vinyl. If there's demand for it we'll be sure to make it.

"Seasons in the Abyss" isn't wrong, but Black Sabbath made that three-note sequence (root, octave, flatted fifth) infamous in the world of heavy metal 20 years before Slayer's song. Slayer knew damn well who they got that riff from.
