I agree and disagree with parking. Yes off site parking can be more affordable but there’s nothing like getting off the boat and on the road in minutes over waiting on a shuttle. Just my preference it’s worth the extra $.
Congratulations Grandma & Grandpa! Very happy for you. Proud of your son & happy for him & his wife with their new bundle of joy. I won't be cruising but I enjoy watching.
Another Awesome video from the amazing Alisa. Traveling IS stressful. Booking, before leaving, check-ins, the actual vacation time, leaving the vacation, traveling back home. These tips help to remove ALL the stress with each area of possible stress. Everyone likes EASY. Listen to Alisa, and make your vacation EASY.
Airplane mode is a great tip! I forgot to turn it on and on embarkation day I got a text and alerts I was about to enter into international waters! Thank goodness for that notification.
Wow! Congratulations 🎉 Jason and Elise on the Brand new bundal of Joy. That's exiting. We have been fans for a while now. We are from Baton Rouge La. So I relate with Jason's hot sauce and y'all's crawfish boils are amazing. Makes me hungry.lol. we love cruising only been on Carnival though. Looking forward to many more.😊 God bless y'all have a wonderful day.
Another thing we learned the hard way was to make sure you cancel your Amazon Subscribe & Save. Dear hubby always has a bunch of stuff in the "basket" and then picks from them monthly what to get based on price... (example 3 different types of coffee that we rotate between, paper towels, bathroom tissues...) Well, we went on our cruise and when we got back stateside he looked as his phone (we disconnect for our cruises) and realized he had not cancelled anything! It was like 40 packages and several hundred dollars. Thankfully I had held our mail and the majority had shipped USPS. We were able to refuse all the packages and send them back. That's a mistake we won't make again!! Love your videos! Keep up the good work and congrats on your new sweet bundle of joy!
Getting in to the cruise port a day early is just something I do. Vehicle accidents, snow storms, hurricanes, and so many other random things can happen. Having that 24 hour buffer is just peace of mind.
I absolutely love your videos! They really helped us on our first cruise in 2020 and again we are finding that your videos are incredibly helpful in preparing for our next cruise in 2024!
Very informative Alisa and some great tips especially on travel insurance - from experience a number one must & also add making sure all aspects of the cruise are covered and any activities deemed additional risk too.
hey guys Newbie here going on my very 1st cruise in November to the Caribbean on Wonder Of The Seas. saw some of your cruise videos and im so freaking excited!!! thanks for all the helpful info.
Some good information there. I'd like to add something that happened to me. When notifying your back about travel plans. Include the headquarters city of the cruise line. For Carnival, that is Miami. We were cruising Carnival out of Charleston. Driving in from Cincinnati. I didn't include Miami in my travel plans with the bank. Because I wasn't going to be anywhere near Miami. Because the ship and its ATM machines are mobile. When I used the ATM onboard. To my bank it looked like my card was being used in Miami. The bank turned the card off. When we got back to Charleston. We sat in a gas station parking lot for 2 hours trying to get it straightened out. Before we could fuel up for the long drive home.
You mentioned the cruise line stateroom baggage tags several times. A great tip is to go on Amazon and search for baggage tag holders for your specific cruise line. (The stateroom baggage tags are sized uniquely for each cruise line.) Being RCL loyalists, when our cruise packet arrives via email, I print the stateroom bag tags, cut them, and then slide the tag into the clear, waterproof tag holder. Our tag holders have flexible wire loops with screw together clasps. These then travel with us and the morning of embarkation, we attach one of these to each bag we give to the porter. There is no fumbling at the port with trying to create a tag, or stapling a piece of paper to your baggage. Once the luggage arrives at our stateroom, we remove the stateroom tag from the holder, take the tag holder off of the bag, and the tag holder is then ready to use on the next cruise. I think these stateroom tag holders are a “must have” for cruising.
You may need to make a reservation to park at the port. We didn’t in Vancouver, B.C. and had to scramble to find a secure parking space ! I thought you were filming at the beach by the harbor in Oceanside. Guess I was right !
Yes please I would like your free 101 Cruise Tips. I recently lost my husband and our last trip together was on the Celebrity Apex. I hope to continue cruising in the future. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours. MandMGirl🤶🤶🎄🎄😻😻
Felt like you were answering questions that I emailed you. Will we be able to touch base soon? I have questions about getting family pre-board info complete when I can only see mine and they are not set up for email from NCL.
Excellent tips! We do all these things and more. We will pull up Google maps and deck plans and conduct a virtual walk through rehearsal from the time we reach the port until it’s time to sail away. It’s not time consuming and really helps us focus in on the essential tasks that need to happen for a smooth cruise. We just came off the NCL Escape yesterday and used this method prior to arrival. We knew that we would be coming aboard on Deck 7, that we would need to perform the electronic muster drill there. We walked through reaching the theater box office at Deck 7 forward to book our shows right after boarding, then heading down to Deck 6 to make specialty dining reservations. While down there, we ate a leisurely and uncrowded lunch in the MDR, avoiding the usual embarkation day madhouse at the buffet on Deck 16. So, a little planning and preparation removes the angst and stress of getting onboard and you’re free to explore the ship, settle in and enjoy your sail away.
Question Cruisers: I've been looking at those luggage straps that go around your checked luggage and I'm wondering what troubles any of you may have encountered with them as far as the airline is concerned. The straps wrap around the luggage.
Great video. How do you find out what type of things are happening on the cruise, example: a white party or pj party etc? To help with packing. Also, I love your bucket hat with the ponytail opening, what brand is it and/or where did you get it? Thanks!!
Good video. About the phone plan with AT&T Mexico is just like being in the US so you don't really have to worry about the port plan there but ever where else since all our cruises have been in the Caribbean the port plan is awesome. great vids guys.
Alisa. I got worried for a second. And then Jason came on in the background. Brilliant. He is just so funny. Love all your videos. I would love if the drink package came down on price. Or if It was less expensive. If all beer was 6e £6 6 dollars, and get rid of the package, it would be great. If they kept the prices in line with the counties they are in. We were lucky on our last. 700e for 7 days for 2. But to be realistic, there is no way you would drink that on a normal holiday with beer alone, for a week. OK wines and others should be extra. I think it might turn a lot of people of cruising. Especially if you would like 4 or 5 drinks a day.
Another tip if you dont have a housesitter: our local police department will patrol our house during vacation if we fill out a form. We saw them on video checking the front door on our spring break trip.
@Charlie Um...I actually live in a very safe town. I'm thankful to our town's police force for offering the service for peace of mind. But in any facet of life, you should be mindful of safety. How sad that you feel the need to be negative about a comment that's meant to help others!
Some credit card companies are no longer having you provide travel alerts. With my Chase card at one hotel I literally had to wait for it to decline, get the alert message, and then allow the charge. So annoying. I work accounts receivable in the travel industry and have definitely seen more declines since credit card companies are doing this. Capital One would not let me leave an alert either. Just my debit card would. My cruise isn’t till April, so part of my daily ritual is looking at something cruise related to keep me psyched for my cruise. Can’t wait!
One other big one. Do not ever let the merchant offer to do the currency conversion for you. There is a steep fee built in and they collect it. Example: Your CC will give you the spot conversion the moment you charge it. If you let the merchant do it, the conversion rate may be up to 15% more in their favor and they get the % as extra profit. So, what you paid $10 for might actually cost you $12.50. Imagine if that was a watch or necklace.
We’re doing an 8 day Canadian tour immediately prior to our cruise in September so how much clothing would you recommend and is it better to try to do laundry the day before at our pre cruise hotel or on the ship please?
I watched the part where Jason ran around yelling Marines a few times. Just made me giggle. As a retired bank manager, I can attest to making sure you call your bank to put a travel notice on your cards. Very important. Have a glorious day.
Check in Time. Mark your phone Calendar the Day before and Wake Up Early for Check in Day. Get one of the earliest Embarkation Day! Works for Us! More Time on Ship = more Time to Enjoy!!!🚢!

Really enjoy watching your vlogs on UA-cam. You both are so down to earth and easyto watch.
Very good tips. Thank you.
Great Video!
We are seasoned cruisers, but your tips were such great reminders! Thank you for sharing this video!
? On RC, you can't book any shows until you are on board right?

🚢 🏝 Great video! 🧜♀️ 🍹
Congrats on the granddaughter! I bought new luggage for our upcoming cruise in Lime Green! I am hopeful it’ll be easy to find!

These are great!
For sure print all your documents, I have had to show them to prove i did prepay my gratuities
Excellent tips and congratulations on the new grandbabies!!❤

Any suggestions on who to get travel insurance thru?
Great tips
So u can use a debit card in places like Bahamas or the Caribbean?
Very informative video, thanks Alisa! ❤
As always great tips. I liked the reminder to download the cruise ship app. I forgot to do that for my cruise in July. Thanks
This is a great video, as are all of your videos. I certainly learned a few things from it.
You posted the necklace link twice instead of the men's ring.
Another tip if you dont have a housesitter: our local police department will patrol our house during vacation if we fill out a form. We saw them on video checking the front door on our spring break trip.
It's pretty sad you live in an area that you have to worry about leaving your home empty for a week

Love the new short hairdo. Must be so easy to take care of with all the traveling you do. What made you decide to go short?
