Fashion is trend. Style is a way of life.
Spot on mate 👌. Keep these coming - so much “proper” information- great! Thank you! 👍
You’re welcome!
Great Simple Advice! Nothing better than a well groomed man!!
Thank you!
This is so true. Finding the right fit and being well groomed makes people treat you differently.
100% on everything John - Legend !
Thank you!
The advice given is very simple and common sense. However, it's amazing how something so basic is often overlooked.
That’s a cool belt! I’m a woman, but I’d totally recommend that to a man who wanted a “bang-for-buck” capsule wardrobe. 👍 I love the micro-adjustment & swappable buckles.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
You are right about belt. I am down to one now because it is reversible😂. I will order thoses belts.
You’ll love them!
Good point at the start!
Thank you!
John, so right! I'm starting to go to the tailor 'cause i have a heavy midsection and although i get lucky sometimes, most stuff off the rack doesn't look good. If i buy pants that fits me in the waist, it's too big and baggy at hips and the legs. So i have to taper these. Also, the color idea helps! (One pont: Go to a seamstress, not a fancy tailor, they charge less and a good one does the same work.)
Good man!
Hello Sir. Great content and overall advice as always. Keep up the brilliant work. Thank you.
Thanks, will do!
Simple advice here John!
One of these points I've changed in my wardrobe lately, is to do with belts. I much prefer to match my belt to my trousers recently, instead of my shoes.
I think belts look best when they are as inconspicuous as possible, so they don't cut your body in half visually. If you can skip the belt altogether, I'd go with that. But if you need one to keep your pants up, I would always go with a belt that matches the color of your trousers as closely as possible.
I’ve always liked the distinct line of a belt, so I guess it also boils down to personal preference. Just make sure it’s complementary - Brown goes with khaki, black goes with gray
fantastic video as always - this guy knows his stuff.
Thank you very much, Richard!
I have a couple of those ratchet belts. Super slick mechanism. And they stay looking new because you’re not bending them every time you put them on or take them off.
Someone needs to make that kind of mechanism for leather watch bands.
Anson belts is bomb!! I got 3 leather and will buy 3 cloth belts for summer shorts
Grear area to start. I have a few nice pairs of dark wash denim jeans that fit, but need to have the length adjusted a little bit. Once that's fixed, those are going to look great.
Great advice as usual. Thank you! I just received my second 3 belt box set from Anson. Preferred the first box on your recommendation and they are terrific. All my old belts have been donated. Keep up the great content. Cheers 👍😎🇦🇺
Great to hear! Thank you!
Levis 514s are my go to!
Another great video ! I’m rebuilding piece by piece trying to follow your advise. When i’m in a store i try to remember all the tips, but end up picking something which catches my eye. Pls do a video on actual shopping in a store as well! Thanks ❤❤
Ooooh… good idea!!
Thank you sir. Cheers.
Cheers!
The fundamentals/basic are timeless... 🎉
I never paid attention to the way I dress. I watched multiple video from you and my wife told me why, you just look and take no action.
So I started to buy new pants, shoes, shirts following your advise. At age 68 it was about time
I also got rid of 90% of my shirts as I have small shoulder and would not fit me
Good man!
@yvesinformel221 well done to you. I made several changes 2 years ago after watching these videos. I am now easily the smartest 49 year old in any room, period.
It's never too late to elevate your style game!
Great advices always. from the two past years i haven't be able to take care about my wardrobe because of the pain in the hip caused by arthrosis. I had my first cirugy on past january and the second one will be into two weeks. Everthing has been great about it. I need to start to recover my life and one of the aspects is how i will dress now that im 54. Im in a city in the north of Mexico but i can cross legaly to usa in order to do my shopping. Im going to start buying new shoes, new belts, etc. Im following you but because my illness i havent put attention to clothes and styling. It was too much pain. But i planning to start over again. Best regards
Thank you very much!
Some guys own the reversible belt black on one side brown on the other.😂
Guilty. 😂
Thank you buddy. I’m rarely swayed by sponsor spots, but you had my attention with that micro adjustment feature. I was just thinking how I can never find a damn belt that fits quite right. I will give that a look
Glad you enjoyed this one! The belts are a major game changer.
I buy from Untuckit a lot cause I heavily dislike tucking in shirts. I will if it's an occasion that truly requires it, and for those occasions I wear a sports coat over the shirt.
Another excellent video. I notice that you have some Tom Ford books in the background. How about a video on some books about style.
Great idea!
I try to get to the barbers every 3 weeks and always have my, ears and nose waxed and my eyebrows trimmed, and the neck hairs are taken care of, as I keep my hair short, buzzed 2, 1, 0 😊
I go to the barber every 2/3 months.
Every month or so but really should go every 3 weeks. Same thing for waxing my nose and ears, plus trim the eyebrows
Good man!
Sounds painful! Just get yourself a decent nose hair trimmer and save yourself that expense and pain. I find that I only have to trim the ear and nose hair once every couple of weeks
Ok???
Another great vid, sir. Can we please get the link to the blue leather sneakers?!
Acemarks.com :)
The orange loafers... I'd probably want to wear a belt that matches my pants. That's why having a blue strap (or a few shades of blue), gray strap, and khaki strap helps.
Great Video John. I wish someone would tell my wife that men can have more shoes then women 😊
Haha!
I wouldn’t recommend giving away the cloths and shoes at this tough times. I’ll keep them and use them. Save your money to pay your debts and mortgage before purchasing anything unnecessary and luxury. This is minimalism.
Style is important, but if you don't follow any fashion trend sometimes what you wear could be outdated.
However recently I saw a trucker jacket that looks nice, but when I tried it it was oversize because it's a trend right now, and I don't like at all oversize clothing.
Big logos are for teenagers! They look awful as you age. The exception is in WDW - all fashion rules are off; it is Disney tops all the way! Great video John, snd a timely one too.
Thank you!
Hi John, been looking for those brown Brogues with the ornate hole design, but no luck yet at local stores. Don't want to chance it on mail order, any ideas? Thanks!
I’m not sure what stores you have in your area, but if you don’t want to order online, I would just say to keep looking and try a few different stores.
@@40OverFashion Kohls, Macys Penneys
I’ve tried leather sneakers from Cole Haan, and, while I like the look, I can never seem to find a fit that suits me quite right. Which brand of leather sneaker do you like?
Personally, I’m a huge fan of Thursday sneakers. I have several different pairs, and they’re all fantastic. Not just saying that because I do brand deals for them, I truly love their shoes.
@@40OverFashion those pretty decent? I get pummeled with their ads on social media which sometimes gives off the impression the marketing hype might overshadow the actual products, but if you say they are worth a look, I’ll check them out. Thank you
Agree about the versatility of brown leather shoes. Have you ever experimented with blue or grey dress shoes? Black dress shoes seem so overdone and dated to me.
I have some gray dress shoes, and some blue dress loafers, but I just don’t wear them as much as I should. I always seem to grab the brown shoes.
Personal grooming story. I was at my hairstylist. When a man rather unkept looking, walks in with his son. Who is rather unkept looking. The man speaks out in a loud voice and says, my boy here has a date tonight, and he needs the back of his neck shaved. I’m thinking both of you need a serious haircut and beard trimming. I thought there it is, you just can’t hide class.
Haha!
He probably told his son to tuck his shirt in so he looks all fancied up. By the time he's old enough to date, he's old enough enough to go to a barber without a parent.
Hi John good video just wondering how your wine business is progressing.
All the best C Barker
Working on that video now. Check back Saturday or Tuesday.
Is that shirt wearing from cuts?
The sweater I’m wearing in the video is from Weston Bouchér.
Brown dress shoes with a Black suit ?
Yes…or cordovan.
It’s doable, but risky.
@@40OverFashion That’s why you have to do it with confidence.
😊❤🎉💯.
If you gotta wear big logos and prints to get noticed you haven't done enough in life to warrant being noticed
Talking about style while wearing a Rolex Pepsi is , ehh; lets say; not doing you any favors in anyway.
Sorry, it’s not a Rolex.
reheated content again and again. content seems stale
Appreciate the feedback.
There’s probably only so much you can say about the same basic principles of good, mature style. Perhaps the idea is that new guys are coming through here every day based on the videos being recommended, so I think it’s smart. Plus, doesn’t hurt to remind us guys who already know
Give him some more 365 subjects..🎉
Very spot on John. @barnstil591 said it very well. But style goes on even further. A person, especially men, can wear a sports coat that is 20+ years old and still rock it. Style is knowing how to carry, present, & act. Not being something flashy. Regarding the pants subject. You always show pants that are trim fit, almost skinny. What if we can't stand that fit? And it's funny about shoes for me. I wear the same exact shoes that I got in 1989. They are my Army issue black dress shoes. And I still get comments to date that they are good looking shoes. All good points!
Legend, out!
Try straight fit jeans to see if you like that fit better. Thanks for watching!
@@40OverFashion I have and they are way too tight around my thighs. I'll just keep trying to figure it out.
😊😊😊
Now you need to change the channel name to 40 Over Style 😁
Haha!
