Considering the player controls Kris through their soul. The strangest thing about it, is that through our fight with Spamton. Kris knows that their soul genuinely wants them to be free of it in good conscience. But Spamton was proof that they need a puppeteer. We just have to keep em dancing and see what happens.
Spamton didn't really die though, he just kinda flopped on the floor and transformed back to normal and kinda was just like,"imma die now take my glasses/scarf."
The thing is the player didn’t choose to control Kris. Our vessel was taken away from us and who knows what happened to Kris’s soul. We’re just stuck in a situation where neither party is happy.
all we can really do is guide Kris to being nice, which isn't what Kris wants as Kris is a troublemaker at heart that cares for no one until we make Kris understand the importance of bonds, like how Kris favours Susie out of anyone else, but if we do guide Kris into being heartless, that's not what Kris wants either, as forcing Noelle to freeze everyone only hurts Kris' psyche. And Kris' only way to mess with us, is to take us out to do something beyond our vision, and use our combined power to open up a dark fountain, risking the chance of starting the Roaring
I honestly think it's a bit of both. They were scared when they first met him in that alley. Kris actually backed away from the guy. Kris never met him but he knows about their soul and their name. That would freak out most people right off the bat.
@@getjinxed101 Both of them being puppets for some other power. Spamton, with his literal physical strings, and Kris with his metaphorical strings, being controlled by the Player.
THIS WAS REALLY GOOD I like the style and especially how Susie looks, and Kris remains perfectly in character while showing emotions. Music fits too. I don’t know why but I love Dialtone.
Seeing Kris get genuinely terrified by the parallels between them and Spamton was insanely freaky my first time through, I'm really excited to see where Toby takes DeltaRune's story Really sick animation, by the way, love how dark this is
it's actually implied that it's happened before, since the birdcage from chapter 1 was implied to have been used before (kris ripping out their soul to free themself of the player's control)
@@willnotshutup this is interesting because in the files of the game there's an unused text saying "chapter 0" meaning that there's still a possibility we'll see backstory to this (also in the end of chap 2 we can see kids close to the bunker and one of them mentions Kris)
Honestly, the storyline between Kris and Spamton was what made chapter 2 as interesting as it was. For such a relatively light-hearted game, Deltarune can get dark and lore-filled when it wants to.
It’s always strange to me. We are the puppet, puppeteering Kris, but Kris is also our puppeteer, and above it all, we have the mystery puppeteer we met at the beginning of the game. And we also attempt to puppeteer Noelle in SnowGrave. There’s a lot of mentions of puppets.
@@wormybobcat3706 no that is just kris acting like kris we control his soul so when he rips his soul out we can control only the soul but when his soul is on his body he cannot control his body like he wants most part of the time and since he needs his soul to survive he only removes his soul to do things he wants to do without looking suspicious or being stopped by us
@@wormybobcat3706 proof of that is when you try to play the piano kris can do that but we cant so he gets angry because of our shitty piano skills and Susie has a dialogue for that saying that kris looks angry and noelle also has a dialogue about that that kris plays the piano better when he is not being controled by us
I'm really not buying the idea that the player is a separate entity from Kris. I think they're just afraid if being possessed by the Knight, whose fountain previously "changed the behavior" of the Spade King, and was the likely the one who drove Jevil mad, and got him imprisoned Just like how they put Kris' soul in a cage
I honestly felt really bad for Kris when Ralsei said they were yelling when you answer no. They want to be free, but after seeing Spamton, they think something bad might happen if they remove their strings.

@@thegreatdraco3923 yeah we are also technically can't choose who to control in the beginning and game litteraly tolds us that our choices don't matter might mean we don't have a choice but control Kris
its so sad to think that all of kris's reactions with susie and ralsei and everyone for the last 2 chapters werent actually real to them, only to their soul
Well, some parts are. There are moments where kris does things we don't tell them to do (Protecting susie during the chaos king fight, eating moss every time we interact with it, stepping back when seeing the dark world closet, yelling after the spamton NEO fight, etc.)
i do want to point out that the reactions that the player has access too normally included kris favored answers, and he has shown the ability to resist us on occasion. while kris clearly isnt fond of his situation his experiences are commonly real to him. for example: he really does like susie(the tea's prove this), noelle mentions when you are really nice to her how odd your acting but doesnt say that when you prank her commonly so he likes to tease, we cant control his facial expressions but he can and shows that to other characters commonly, etc witnessing spamton neo has a big emotional effect on him but comparing him in a peaceful run to spamton is like comparing a lake to the ocean
And that's the especially terrible part. You (the player) are enjoying these great people, funny moments, awesome battles... what about Kris? He's only gets control in brief moments and experience his own life- the one you're taking from him. Take that selfishness a step further with the SnowGrave route- you're manipulating and grooming his childhood best friend to be a murderer, simply for your own curiosity and entertainment.
Honestly, I really want Kris to be free. We're practically forced into puppeteering them at the start, so both Kris and us are uncomfortable about the whole situation TLDR GIVE ME MY VESSEL, GIVE ME MY SWEET SWEET GREYSCALE BABY I NAMED IT AND EVERYTHING
That final slash missed because Kris knows if they permanently break their strings, if they destroy this soul, they'll just end up like Spamton. Dead on the floor, waiting for you to reset.
It's sad that Kris is being controlled by us. It's scary but I love this concept, a pre-determined character who is controlled by us, the player. But the difference is, is that they know this.
It’s a double-bind. They don’t seem to like the SOUL’s influence, but they can barely move without it. That said… we’ve only ever seen Kris “unstring” in the real world… so how much of a solution would they seen in plunging themselves into another Dark World?
You guys notice how spamton doesn’t specifically target Kris when he says “Break your own strings” he targets EVERYBODY in the party. Maybe Susie and Ralsei have something similar happening to them.
Susie is probably trying hard to be too tough and Ralsei is trying to be too nice. They think that without those traits that they're nothing. Maybe that's what they're tied to? In chapter 2 we see both sort of "break some strings." Ralsei acts a little more mean and Susie acts a little more nice.
@@user-vr2qp2hi8z yeah ralsei learned to be himself after being with Susie, but seems like people don't like Ralsei being Ralsei and keep saying that he's being sus and more different than chapter 1
@@DWal32 yeah in chapter one when your in the prison you can tell susie to go left or right if you choose right she goes left so that says we only really control kris
i saw someone point out once that the reason why Kris mumbles 'yes' when answering 'are you okay?' is because they don't agree with it, while they shout 'NO' because that's genuinely how they feel also, my own addition, Kris took their soul out TWICE during the second chapter though only once during the first, if i recall correctly maybe they're gradually gaining more power over themselves..?
Fun fact: When your will and Kris will allign then it comes out as a shout. If you disagree for something, your choice prevails but it comes out as a whisper / normal talking.
@@weedcaat Exacly, that's how much you manipulate Kris like a puppet. That's the only thing they agreed with you throughout the entire unless you choose yes which then you still miss one that one as well.
I can imagine a scenario where we finally get to a point where we are fighting Gaster, at long last, and all of Kris's friends and items are getting pulled away. Their heart, their mind, getting unravelled. Gaster sees it as a mercy, Kris already knows the truth. A red glimmer from our soul and Kris's eye. "No." "We REFUSE". The strings snap, all of Kris's fragments collect again. Kris looks at us, surprised. And somehow, they see us nod. We get a text box. "What do you want to do Kris?" They are stunned, their puppeteer consulting their puppet? They look at Gaster, grit their teeth, and raise their sword. "Be my weapon. Save my friends." The Soul moves to their hand, this time becoming purple, a notebook. "Say it with me Kris." For once, they smile. And Gaster frowns. Kris steps forward without our command, and we draw strings from the weapon. Pages flutter out, contesting Gaster's hands, releasing Kris's friends. "SAVE!" And our screen shatters with a resounding shockwave.
It might be that Kris was trying to fight it and we unexpectedly let them say what they wanted to, like how you could fall flat on your back if something you were tugging at suddenly gave way.
I just hope Kris knows that quite a few of us don't mean to make him suffer. Heck, we didn't even want to puppet Kris around in the first place. We personally made a vessel in the beginning of the game, didn't we?
After watching way too many theory videos, here's how I think this is gonna play out: "Egg" in Wingdings(the font associated with Gaster) translates to hand symbols pointing left, up, up, which matches the moment of a Knight chess piece. Toby insisted that this game will have one ending. My theory is that the vessel we made was never discarded and it's in Gaster's lab. Kris will separate the SOUL(aka the player) from themselves via the Vessel and will coexist with us if we choose pacifist, and fight us if we go neutral/genocide. Sparing Kris in the fight would be the neutral end and killing Kris would be the Geno end. Regardless, all three will lead to the same climatic moment where something happens with Gaster.
I like how well done chapter 2 was, especially with the snowgrave route. Toby Fox showed us that Kris isn’t the only one that can hear us. Yes, we communicate through Kris most of the time, but that part at the end when YOU whisper for Noelle proves that we as a player can talk to others in the game without a puppet
honestly, each chapter i'm believing less and less that WE specifically are the one that kris dislikes. we know who kris is. there are hints of their character spread through the game. they are a bit of a jerk, but they DO have good points. simple things like eating chocolate causes them to tear up, they really miss their brother asriel(his search results on his computer literally has a result asking when college holidays are) his relationship with noelle is neither good nor bad, hes a bit of a prankster, but you can see noelle pranks him back at times, its basically just harmless jokes. i think this story is going to go a different direction. sure we can create the snowgrave route...but i can actually explain how we AREN'T the bad guys by doing so. we are being manipulated like a puppet just like kris. we are gaster's current experiment, and he even baited us by telling us our actions don't matter. gaster manipulated us to commit to finding a way to break out of the "our actions don't matter". his experiment is literally trying to defy the rules of the game with determination, just like we did with sans in genocide. why does kris keep trying to send the world into the roaring? why are they so adamant on rejecting us even IF we do good things. and how can they create dark worlds if humans cant do magic? why would they drag toriel into the dark world. why would kris reject us knowing that rejecting us could kill them off and why did it terrify them regardless on if we are good or evil. its because thats NOT kris. then who is it? chara? although i think its possible, i don't really think so anymore. it cant be kris because kris has no motive to ruin the world. if they hated us THAT bad i imagine there are better ways then bringing everyone into eternal darkness. why would kris be so interested in creating more fountains and cause the roaring? ill tell you my theory...Dark, dark yet darker. gasters true experiment wasn't to bring US in, it was to bring US in with HIM alongside us. what if gaster is trapped in the dark world, he took over kris like a puppet, learned how to create rips in space and time(dark worlds) realized he cant close these rips up without a soul, and is now trying to get out, by creating these fountains and having us destroy the fountains he created until we find his location. and kris is frustrated because they have no control of their life.
WAIT so what ur saying is that us the player creates the soul so gaster manipulates us into taking kris vessel so kris is gettkng puppeted and gaster can also puppet
As much as your theory is pretty interesting and creative, there's a flaw. It isn't Gaster who tell us our choices don't matter. He uses a predetermined font and a unique way of talking, and when he finishes: YOUR WONDERFUL CREATION it cuts off and the font, alongside the unusual way of talking changes, with makes possible that is someone else talking to us. oh, and also, determination in this world is different from Undertale as it seems, queen told us that EVERYONE can create a dark fountain if they are determined enough, which means that practically anyone in town can be the knight.
God damn it I love this animation so much. It shows what Kris has been feeling these 2 chapters and how they’re basically panicking and stressed about having they’re control away from them. I just wanna give the guy a hug. D:
yeah, kris hates hugs. which sucks, because the player can make him be all fluffy with ralsei. according to tea theory (look it up, its a short read but strong evidence), kris doesn't even *like* ralsei that much.
Kris is in the same situation as spamton Stuck in control of the player, wanting to be free, but knowing that if he is free, he won’t have a soul, he won’t feel. Which is just as bad as being controlled

Also, not only that, but they need their SOUL to live, as we aren't told they were injected with industrial amounts of Determination. Without a SOUL, they would probably die/go comatose in an hour or two.
@@gabrote42 I've already seen all the "examples" of this. But the game explicitly tells us "No one can choose who they are in this world. Your name is...." "Kris!" You also weren't the main character in Undertale, only that this game makes it much more obvious.
It's interesting how the game starts by making sure you know you don't get to make choices (making a character, Susie getting annoyed at your walking pace, the thrashing machine) then both of the secret bosses have a theme around freedom (Jevil being the embodiment freedom and Spamton literally being a puppet)
Dude, now that I think bout it, all those Dark Crystals are probably gonna make something to set Kris free from the player. Can't wait for that! Also, why did this comment blow up along with cuptoast and Christopher Moon WHAT?! That's more likes than I get on my content LMAO!
@@wall5239 there's this theory: Kris doesn't want the roaring, he just wants to spend more time with Susie, as she's the only one who doesn't look at Kris as Asriel's shadow, but a cool teen who's just like her he slashed Toriel's tire because he doesn't want Susie to leave
The thing that confuses me about Kris’ relationship with us, the SOUL, is that, despite tearing us out of their body, Kris deliberately places the soul back in their body at times. It seems to be less of a hostile takeover on our part and more of a mutualistic agreement? Although, under certain conditions, said agreement could easily become parasitic…
It might be because Kris becomes emotionless when they rip their soul out, meaning that they can't feel happiness, and they want to. So they put they're soul back into them.
i think they just can’t live without it over extended periods of time, see how slow they walk and how they’re hunched over when they don’t have their soul?

I guess the real question is whether or not Kris actually wants us here, or if they wish to escape but have grown dependent on us.
I get it now. Spamton wants to free himself and kris FROM THE SOUL (and possibly just kill them) Jevil was already freed at this point so only kris and spamton with future characters being trapped might set them free

@Midori Happens I agree. That stilted movement...the fact each step soulless Kris takes sounds like the footsteps we take in the dark world...manifesting objects from nothingness (an ability that only seems possible in the dark world)...all these things are unnatural. To say nothing of opening a dark fountain while their MOTHER is in the room.
"You want [[Choice]], don't ya, Lightner?" Gaster was spread across time and space, and instantly realized everything and nothing, beginning and end... He was not real. Nothing... Was real. Choice... Was an illusion. His own son, Sans, learned this as well. Or perhaps... The mere nod to its possibility was enough to make sans refuse to put any more care and effort into the world than he had to... Being spread across time and space, even knowledge Gaster's own existance became a rarity. Only those in just the right place at just the right time could even know of his existance... And to know Gaster is to know the truth... Jevil once learned the truth... With it, he knew he was free... Free to do anything... Everything For consequence... Was non-existant. A small monster boy whos name was lost to time, much like Gaster... He was never told the truth... But he learned it. They say you die twice. When your body dies, and then again when your name is remembered for the last time. The thought terrifies me. But oh... To be the lonely, down on his luck spambot named Spamton G Spamton... From birth, your goal in life was even less then that of your fellow salesmen. Where their wares were useful and interesting pieces that always could draw a crowd... Your existance from the start... Was to sell people things they didnt even want. And, despite the bad draw, you push. You know one day, you'll be a [[Big Shot]]. And then... You get a phonecall... Someone who seems to know everything... Who has the ANSWERS. You win. You dont stop winning. Everyone hates you because you cant stop winning, but you still dont stop. Nothing can stop you... Until the final phone call... "It's all a lie." "Your existance... Everything... Even in the world of the lightners, the people you sell to... They are a lie." You drew the short end of the existential stick in a world that isn't even real. You are... Literally... Living in the worse part of the garbage can. The only thing... That could change everything... "Choice." The ability... To be free of the strings of your own cruel, constructed reality. Choice.
The thing with "Freedom" is pretty interesting Jevil says to be the only free one Spamton is trying to be free I wonder Could the one making them lose it be someone who is truly free?
Fun Fact: The actually 1 scene where Kris show some kind of reaction to the player choices, at the end of chapter 2 when susie asks who Kris will take to the carnival or smth, if you chosse ralsei susie says "Why do you look so confused saying that?"
Thtough the character Teas, if Kris drinks a Ralsei Tea, they get the least health back out of all other characters besides themself. This means their relationship with Ralsei is the least favorable. The contrary is true for Susie, and inbetween the two, Noelle. This shows us what Kris thinks of the others outside of what we want them to think of them
I just feel bad for Kris but I can't resist to play the game, so I started to think and act (in-game) like Kris, likes eating sweets, less interaction and more Susie interactions as well as Ralsei's hugs to make Kris feel that he is, well, himself. Damn we gamers really don't notice how much we abuse our characters, even though they don't exist, Minecraft Steve, Mario, Frisk, your character in your favorite shooter game, or any game that you play, the main character gets abused, forcing them to KILL even on low health, forcing them to WORK 24H non-stop. But we gotta game, so just don't abuse or overgame something, let your favorite character rest, and respect them even though they don't exist anywhere else outside our playful minds.
The thing is, most in game characters are exactly as we call them. Avatars. They dont have a will or personhood, they're a body for us to inhabit. Sometimes they have an existence, like Geralt from the Witcher, but they're happy with any ending we give them. They're still a puppet, just with different voices. Kris is trying to actively fight us. They're different. Even Frisk was just an avatar. Mario is totally an avatar. Steve isnt even a person, we can morph ourselves into any body. Kris is really the first to suffer from our actions. And that makes me want to help them more...
I love this interpretation. Something to note for future story. It would seem, the more we encounter the "secret bosses" the more out control over Kris seems to slip. Whether or not this is a good thing, we will have to wait and see
It’s even more freaky if we go with the theory that “The Knight” is the one controlling kris at night. In which case they don’t just have one but two sets of strings, and their never able to come out for themself. They’re in constant isolation from their own body, and can only watch as other “puppets” fall down when the strings are cut. Whether you believe the knight is someone else or not though, this has got to be an emotional rollercoaster for Kris.
I'm running with the idea that Kris only opened the one at the end of Chapter 2 on their own, while the previous ones were opened by the Knight, for some reason. But yeah, I can imagine that two entities controlling you isn't very pleasant.
@Tenacious Kirikot at the end of Chapter 2? Yes. Chapter 1? Maybe they did, maybe they didn't. I think Kris' only motive is to break free of the player's control, though how a Dark World would help them is anyone's guess. As for who The Knight might be, it could still be Kris, or it could be someone else. We don't know for sure, since we only see Kris open one Dark Fountain.
There’s the fear there that yes if he cut his strings he’d be free from our meddling with his life, but also that like spamton without it that’d just be the end for him and potentially everything. Makes me realize he’s not walking all creepy in those end scenes because he wants to be intimidating, but because he’s actually probably dying when he does it
I'm telling yall now that aside from all the lore ,Kris is a genuine good "human" that's being controlled by either "Chara" or another being we've yet to see and he literally can't do anything about it except let whatever it is inside of him take control for a while, throwing his soul in order to do whatever it is doing (creating portals apparently)

I like the idea of the final slash missing, it makes it seem that even when Kris is at so close of being able to break themselves free of us, they just can't because they still need our strength to keep going.
maybe beating all the hard bosses unlocks a secret Kris vs The Player fight at the end where you winning gets you back control and equates to the bad ending while losing gives Kris free will
and this is why i try to be as nice to kris as possible when playing deltarune because i know they’re in pain :( when i manage to beat neo, imma say no for them in that one dialogue because i know that’s what they want
Us and Kris are just stuck together, he cant survive without us for long and we need him to interact with his world. We’ll either keep fighting for control of the body or hopefully reach a compromise and learn to share the world.
The phone Spamton was talking to "Garbage Noise" which is probably Gaster. I'm guessing Gaster was controlling Spamton maybe? Like how in Deltarune 1 I always had the impression Gaster was the one talking to us about our name as the creator for creating our "creation" But then discards them in the end saying "No one can choose who they want to be in this world. Your. name. is-" Not only that but when you put the name Gaster of course as everyone knows. It instantly restarts the game the second you put in the last letter of Gaster. This is interesting...
The music is a slowed down world revolving and I love that it connects with the Jevil battle. The thing that makes the music even more unnerving though are the occasional ringings of the phone.
But some of us are forcing our boi to do things like hugging ralsei when it is clear they have no addiction to goat boi. Even the last choice in chapter 2: Who you want to go to carnival with? If player chooses noelle or ralsei, susie will comment on how confused he sounds. If player chooses nothing, then kris will stare at susie, making their own. We are slowly losing control over our vessel and that is definitely due to the fact that kris encountered shadow crystal bosses and their ideas.
If you think about it, Chapter 6 or 7 may take us into some sort of the Puppet World where we might discover truth about what’s happening with Kris, that mysterious man who talk to us at the beginning of the game and so on.
I think Spamton hates clowns (implying Jevil) as Jevil is already free; since Kris couldn't understand or relate to Jevil's cryptic dialogue through CH.1's secret boss, he wasn't as shaken by it. I think the epilogue of the basement scene was Kris being hit by both realizations
Guys don’t worry. Kris will end it once and for all at chapter seven. Maybe by chapter 3 there can be a small progression cutscene, where one of the strings attached to Kris will be cut.
I hope that I am doing good for Kris, I didn't choose to be their puppet master, I never wanted to control them, I was given a choice that never existed and here I am, I hope maybe my actions don't do any harm towards Kris, they may despise me but I can't help but feel pity for their situation, I hope there is a way to resolve this
There’s probably a reason why they’re doing it, but until later chapters come out, we won’t know. Regardless, we’re still taking the reigns of Kris’s body until whenever, and if the Spamton NEO fight is anything to go by, they still need to rely on us to survive nonetheless.

And Kris' only way to mess with us, is to take us out to do something beyond our vision, and use our combined power to open up a dark fountain, risking the chance of starting the Roaring

Or is it OUR soul?
@@sambeckettcat absolutely. It's YOUR soul, not Kris'. Kris is never referred to as "You", only the player.
Well, some parts are. There are moments where kris does things we don't tell them to do (Protecting susie during the chaos king fight, eating moss every time we interact with it, stepping back when seeing the dark world closet, yelling after the spamton NEO fight, etc.)
i do want to point out that the reactions that the player has access too normally included kris favored answers, and he has shown the ability to resist us on occasion. while kris clearly isnt fond of his situation his experiences are commonly real to him. for example: he really does like susie(the tea's prove this), noelle mentions when you are really nice to her how odd your acting but doesnt say that when you prank her commonly so he likes to tease, we cant control his facial expressions but he can and shows that to other characters commonly, etc
witnessing spamton neo has a big emotional effect on him but comparing him in a peaceful run to spamton is like comparing a lake to the ocean

But a cool theory regardless
I hope Toby actually adds that, like a way to apologize to Kris, or for the more narcissistic player's, mock them.
that's what makes the fight with Neo Spamton interesting. It's almost like we're working to free ourselves from Kris up to that point.

After watching way too many theory videos, here's how I think this is gonna play out:
"Egg" in Wingdings(the font associated with Gaster) translates to hand symbols pointing left, up, up, which matches the moment of a Knight chess piece.
Toby also insisted that "Gaster" shouldn't be related, as he said Undertale and Deltarune are different worlds

I like how well done chapter 2 was, especially with the snowgrave route. Toby Fox showed us that Kris isn’t the only one that can hear us. honestly, each chapter i'm believing less and less that WE specifically are the one that kris dislikes.
we know who kris is. there are hints of their character spread through the game. they are a bit of a jerk, but they DO have good points. simple things like eating chocolate causes them to tear up, they really miss their brother asriel(his search results on his computer literally has a result asking when college holidays are) his relationship with noelle is neither good nor bad, hes a bit of a prankster, but you can see noelle pranks him back at times, its basically just harmless jokes.
i think this story is going to go a different direction. sure we can create the snowgrave route...but i can actually explain how we AREN'T the bad guys by doing so.
we are being manipulated like a puppet just like kris. we are gaster's current experiment, and he even baited us by telling us our actions don't matter. gaster manipulated us to commit to finding a way to break out of the "our actions don't matter". his experiment is literally trying to defy the rules of the game with determination, just like we did with sans in genocide.
why does kris keep trying to send the world into the roaring? why are they so adamant on rejecting us even IF we do good things. and how can they create dark worlds if humans cant do magic? why would they drag toriel into the dark world. why would kris reject us knowing that rejecting us could kill them off and why did it terrify them regardless on if we are good or evil. its because thats NOT kris. then who is it? chara? although i think its possible, i don't really think so anymore. it cant be kris because kris has no motive to ruin the world. if they hated us THAT bad i imagine there are better ways then bringing everyone into eternal darkness.
why would kris be so interested in creating more fountains and cause the roaring? ill tell you my theory...Dark, dark yet darker. gasters true experiment wasn't to bring US in, it was to bring US in with HIM alongside us. what if gaster is trapped in the dark world, he took over kris like a puppet, learned how to create rips in space and time(dark worlds) realized he cant close these rips up without a soul, and is now trying to get out, by creating these fountains and having us destroy the fountains he created until we find his location. and kris is frustrated because they have no control of their life.
yes
WAIT so what ur saying is that us the player creates the soul so gaster manipulates us into taking kris vessel so kris is gettkng puppeted and gaster can also puppet
As much as your theory is pretty interesting and creative, there's a flaw.
It isn't Gaster who tell us our choices don't matter.
He uses a predetermined font and a unique way of talking, and when he finishes: YOUR WONDERFUL CREATION
it cuts off and the font, alongside the unusual way of talking changes, with makes possible that is someone else talking to us.
oh, and also, determination in this world is different from Undertale as it seems, queen told us that EVERYONE can create a dark fountain if they are determined enough, which means that practically anyone in town can be the knight.

@Tenacious Kirikot of course, that's just a theory. Just like mine and his.
@Jelgio Valerio at the very least any lightner can make a fountain.
We don't know for sure, since we only see Kris open one Dark Fountain.
respect to the knight getting a midnight snack
Imagine this is what it feels like if there's a entity living inside of you and controlling you.
Thanks Toby for making me feel evil for all the times I make Kris hug Ralsie.
Seeing kris terrified is just…wow..the story might even be more interesting than undertale
Plot twist: Kris doesn't care about the strings, he only cares about the fact that Deltarune will be fully ready in 7-18 years
Not 18 bro, at most, 7
There’s the fear there that yes if he cut his strings he’d be free from our meddling with his life, but also that like spamton without it that’d just be the end for him and potentially everything.
WHY ARE YOU SO UNDERATED RN??
i think pears are just less-tastier apples
@@RicoPixelArt So? That's true
My headcanon:
Susie, the gamer girl she is, will realize it's all a game and let Kris be relieved of the soul so that she can become the protagonist
Gonna be hard unless we can be removed from the SOUL itself. Because if the SOUL goes, so does Kris' Determination source (A.K.A. the will to live)
@@gabrote42 maybe you could call it "purifying" just as the fountains are purified
So Susie will have a human soul and become a GOD? you realize this is the reason the war between humans and monsters happened?
@@mariotheundying Flowey only became God once he got 7 souls, which was still a substantial increase in power from the Omega Flowey form, which only had 6.
@@metalapplesus did you forget asriel and chara's story? Asriel absorbed Chara's soul (1) and became the god of hyperdeath (The first form of asriel you fight)
Imagine you learn that your loved one is being controlled by someone else...
But then you learn, you didn't love the person being controlled, you loved the puppeteer
Duuuuuuude, I saw one of your animations and was like "cool".
Then I saw the second one and this is the third one.
I didn't know you were all in it. Sub!
Imagine how traumatic it must be seeing him just fall.
It must feel like kris'll never break free from the strings
I like the idea of the final slash missing, it makes it seem that even when Kris is at so close of being able to break themselves free of us, they just can't because they still need our strength to keep going.
maybe beating all the hard bosses unlocks a secret Kris vs The Player fight at the end where you winning gets you back control and equates to the bad ending while losing gives Kris free will
Spamton missing the final string to set Kris free is strangely symbolic to how he collapsed moments from his own freedom
Huh
Never thought that a cameo character could mean so much
your extremely underrated, that animation was SMOOTH
and this is why i try to be as nice to kris as possible when playing deltarune because i know they’re in pain :( when i manage to beat neo, imma say no for them in that one dialogue because i know that’s what they want
a sad existence, to be a puppet or to die. i hope we get to be friends with Kris, because i don't want to see them hurt...
The best part about deltarune is that the villain isn’t a character, but instead the player itself.
Goddamn it. First Toby made me feel bad for killing npcs, which is fair enough but with deltarune he i literally feel bad JUST PLAYING THE GAME.
I hope this means that if kris ever breaks free in the future, we'll hear spamton's theme or the freedom motif again
Us and Kris are just stuck together, he cant survive without us for long and we need him to interact with his world.
We’ll either keep fighting for control of the body or hopefully reach a compromise and learn to share the world.
I wounder what happend to Kris own soul. Die he ever had a soul at the beginning or was that he using another soul to survive?
Relax lightner You FREEDOM this in 9
19 years
The phone Spamton was talking to "Garbage Noise" which is probably Gaster. I'm guessing Gaster was controlling Spamton maybe? Like how in Deltarune 1 I always had the impression Gaster was the one talking to us about our name as the creator for creating our "creation" But then discards them in the end saying "No one can choose who they want to be in this world. Your. name. is-"
Not only that but when you put the name Gaster of course as everyone knows. It instantly restarts the game the second you put in the last letter of Gaster.
This is interesting...
But it's only a theory..... or one would call it...
A GAME THEORY!
SORRY!
(maybe)
Slick animation and oddly heartwarming even though Kris’s existence is rather tragic.
I love the warm color palette you have
Now...thta...I think about it...in the animation of the soul when you start the game for the first time, the heart has strings...
When Kris fully breaks free from our control we're gonna be so fucked
Indeed.
The music is a slowed down world revolving and I love that it connects with the Jevil battle. The thing that makes the music even more unnerving though are the occasional ringings of the phone.
Welcome back to another episode of "PlAyEr bAd" because we control Kris. Despite the fact we have no choice too anyway.
Yes we do it's called not playing the game.
@@bitrr3482 Not playing doesn't do shit, you just stop time in game, for them you still are there, the only thing you can do is continue ahead.
But some of us are forcing our boi to do things like hugging ralsei when it is clear they have no addiction to goat boi. Even the last choice in chapter 2:
Who you want to go to carnival with? If player chooses noelle or ralsei, susie will comment on how confused he sounds. If player chooses nothing, then kris will stare at susie, making their own.
We are slowly losing control over our vessel and that is definitely due to the fact that kris encountered shadow crystal bosses and their ideas.
Now I wish that Toby let us create our own body so we didn’t have to control Kris
dude this is awesome, I love that animation!
If you think about it, Chapter 6 or 7 may take us into some sort of the Puppet World where we might discover truth about what’s happening with Kris, that mysterious man who talk to us at the beginning of the game and so on.
This is what happens when you don't get your required amount of potassium.
I like how Susie’s head movement went perfectly to the first beat of the song
I think Spamton hates clowns (implying Jevil) as Jevil is already free; since Kris couldn't understand or relate to Jevil's cryptic dialogue through CH.1's secret boss, he wasn't as shaken by it. I think the epilogue of the basement scene was Kris being hit by both realizations
Also, during the NEO fight, spamton says "[CLOWN]? NO, I FEEL SICK!"
I this is one reason why I keep trying to do good things in deltarune
Susie: Chris, don't worry. Let's go eat a cake?
Kris: You don't understand. Cake is a lie!
It's actually "Kris", but yes, the cake was, is and will always be a lie
@@samugames0 I'm sorry, the translator messed up.
Guys don’t worry.
Kris will end it once and for all at chapter seven.
Maybe by chapter 3 there can be a small progression cutscene,
where one of the strings attached to Kris will be cut.
Kris is trying to break free from us exactly, we are controlling him. He's just like Spamton.
But who is controlling Spamton?
This is really good and gave me chills!
Something that i was thinking: the only one that is free in deltarune is jevil
*_I AM FREE, FREE!_*
This is so lovely! I love the style, the simplicity speaking volumes, and aaaaa Spamton's eyes as Kris remembers his words.
I hope that I am doing good for Kris, I didn't choose to be their puppet master, I never wanted to control them, I was given a choice that never existed and here I am, I hope maybe my actions don't do any harm towards Kris, they may despise me but I can't help but feel pity for their situation, I hope there is a way to resolve this
This is why whenever I play Deltarune, I try to make Kris' reputation good 😭😭
If kris really wanted the player to stop then they would've stopped creating dark fountains/worlds for us to explore.
There’s probably a reason why they’re doing it, but until later chapters come out, we won’t know. Regardless, we’re still taking the reigns of Kris’s body until whenever, and if the Spamton NEO fight is anything to go by, they still need to rely on us to survive nonetheless.
this why I try choose options that I think kris would like
"Inspite everything you've done for them, eventually they will hate you"
- Green Goblin
God: "I hate the way you make your vessel, here pick this one"
"Bruh you gave me shitty materials come on"
God, but actually thinking about spamton’s death makes me shed some tears.
U have a good art style
