Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of BMW i4 2022
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лип 2022
- Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

Side Pole was insane good !
I agree! Only a little mark!
Yea, so solid rock.
I am impressed with that
Duh it’s an ev

Nice video
I’m shocked it only got 4 stars!!!
Looks like someone forgot to pay the bribe 😅
How does a 2022 BMW not get 5 stars?
The new Aygo performed better in the AEB test and got 4* overall as well!
Queria saber também!
It's odd how they gave a 61% for assistance when it literally did everything required.

@@TVCHLORD that doesn’t hurt the biker though
No Centre Airbag
What’s the main reason for not getting 5 stars? Can we assume that a standard ICE BMW 4 series would get the same ratings? Thanks
I'd assume the rating can't be applied to the ICE 4 series because the location of motor and battery imply a completely different structure and will affect the results (like the side pole crash).
Euro NCAP sais because of the failed "Test car turns across the path of an approaching car" test... but thats the only reason i can find...

The best outcome for this mask :))
This and the BMW 2 series coupe got 4 stars. Not good enough. Any specific problem BMW need to correct?
Their AEB systems since it scored less then 70%
I feel like you all could be getting some cooler/better drone shots
Side pole best I've ever seen as far as rigidity of safety cage.
No, average for evs
Sólo 4?
This has the same rating as the £15K Toyota Aygo which also has a much better performing AEB system!
Sure. You take the Toyota, I will take the BMW. Then let’s together check the rating by a head-on collision…
BMW is safer as it is a bigger car. Euroncap testing results are to be interpret as a crash with a car of the same size. They say so themselves
@@wesleyt2896 I know. Therefore it does not make sense to refer here to a £15K car and giving the impression that they deliver safety at the same level just because the percentage numbers are comparable…
If this crashed into a Aygo it would turn it into something like a crushed soda can. This car is a tank, Aygo had A pillar failure at 50 km/h lmao. The scores are irrelevant when they give more credit it pedestrian safety systems than actual car safety.
Great Test, BUT ....Song??
That's weird, since the car looks like it's extremely solid. Looks like you could do these crash tests at twice the speed and still everyone would walk away.
Correct. It’s weird - with the new rating EuroNCAP is exactly punishing such cars. The sled, which is used in the frontal crash and should simulate an opponent car has shown high impact forces and intrusions. Crazy, isn’t it?! Everyone in these chats is complaining about the BMWs safety and nobody is reading the details of the report…
@@ytuberization cool. Doesn’t matter when it sucks in other areas

1:21 The car jumped!
Wtf is that collision warning sound lol
So the frontal carsh test is now 50% width of the car? Why?
Why don't they do the small overlap test (25% width of the car)?
USA and China are doing them.
Why Euro NCAP is not verifying the strength of occupant compartment?
Small overlap would verify it quite clearly.
Absolutely correct. The new rating and procedures are a huge disappointment.

Dumb BMW Fans
They don't give a mind of safety
@@Javierblaszczyk The star rating is affected heavily by AEB and other safety tech so a car can be strong while having less than 5 stars.
So, the BMW i4 scored 87%, 87%, 71%, and 64% vs a 2019 Tesla Model 3 which scored 96%, 86%, 74%, and 94%, respectively, it's not like BMW didn't know the Model 3 Euro NCAP results, seriously, what no computer crash simulations, BMW is still behind Tesla, too heavy, not enough range, slower charging, smaller interior space and cargo space, I mean, the only reason to buy it, is because you want a BMW EV
Before giving such statements, please do some homework beforehand. The 2019 Model 3 crash was done by different test procedures and a different rating system. Second, the BMW results with respect to the passive safety was rated only with 87%, as the chassis seems to be too rigid for opponent cars. Crazy, isn’t it?!
bmw doors are extremely thick 😢. my friend has one .. its like tank
cbooo
Someone at BMW just got fired 🤣
Nope. Just standard increased
My frien has This car but in m50…
Friend
I'd rather crash at high speed in this than in most 5 star cars. It's stock solid, you would demolish a truck if you crashed into it in one of these.
Lol
Just 4 ? For me it’s excellent … 5/5…
Correct. Chassis rigidity is sensational…
For you, not for Euroncap
don´t forget the crappy model 3 took 96% for the adult occupant and the I4 84%,. This diference only happens because one is dedicated ev, the other is an adapted version of an ice car.
@@general65644 That is a wild theory…
@@ytuberization model3 Kerb Weight 1760 vs I4 2050kg this "little" things at the end make a diference.
71% vulnerable Road users? Its embarrasing that Hyundai Tucson made It better and It received 66%. Idiots
seriously you guys should give up on crash testing. Let the IIHS expand to Europe!
So ugly and a terrible NCAP rating. See the individual numbers, this BARELY got a 4 rating.
Go in the details. 87% in passive safety only, as it provides excellent protection for the passengers, but certain risks for opponent cars because of the rock-solid structure. Is this bad?! Maybe if you are more the kind of charity person…
