    For weddings, should I film in FHD for 4k on this camera?
    I have been filming in FHD on this camera for years, and just recently I have seen on articles that the FHD quality is worse than the 4k on this camera (other than resolution).
    Not having 60p could be an issue, but I am not deeply concerned about it, I think with tripods and a gimbal I can control rolling shutter and lack of IBIS, and I don't really mind about the 1.7x crop in 4k as long as the quality is good. With quality I mean sharpness, clean image, good colors, dynamic range...
    But I am concerned about SD cards and hard drive space. I would have to replace all my cards for the all-i, and I already struggle with hard drive space in FHD.
    And what about low light performance?

    Hey Brock at 6.53 etc when you're in studio talking to camera, what focus is that on? The camera's out, you're in and it's shallow depth nicely... and that's what I'm trying to do right now for some filming talking head things. Great video and a real reason for adding the R (can't afford the expensive variants at this time) to my collection. Kindest, Neale

    This is a really interesting video @Brock - thanks for sharing.
    I shoot weddings and have 3 EOS R bodies - plus the holy trinity RF lenses - although I mainly shoot my weddings in 4k.. BUT
    How are you finding the DR in sunny situations?
    I bought the EF RF ND adapter and love it, but it's now kind of making my investment in the RF lenses pointless as I can only use my EF lenses with the mount - plus I like to use Tiffen Black Mist filters so I can't use ND's on the end of the RF glass.
    It's why I am seriously considering trading in my RF glass and getting a c200 with built-in ND's and no crop on the 4k.

    • @Iambrockbailey

      David Sargant hey David. I crank shutter in sunny situations. I never felt it made a huge difference in my films and messing with ND filters is annoying when you are running and gunning the whole day.

    Even without stablization in the body or the lens, because of the weight, is handheld possible without horrible rolling shutter? I have the RP and notice this a bit in 1080, but specially in cropped 4k mode and it's horrible. Also lack of ALL-I and C Log, not the best.

    • @Iambrockbailey
      @Iambrockbailey  4 роки тому +3

      I just hate the sony ecosytem. They don't innovate and come out with anything. The low light on the canon is great. Really good on anything under 6400 ISO. I never go past that anyways. But yea I just don't like sony personally because of the camera as a whole. Bad battery life, horrible screen brightness, to many menus etc. Canon has been a game changer for my work flow.

      @@santanuchanda I can't speak for weddings, but I've shot 1000's of hours of footage (from g7x to m50 and now EOS R) and I haven't had a single corrupt file/card. I also don't have multiple SD cards like most professionals do(I have 1 backup but I almost never switch SD cards - I just dump them into a hard drive and keep using it). Although I have heard stories of people's sd cards going corrupt, I have only heard it happen to Lexar cards. After 3 years, I'm convinced that the dual card slot deal is pretty overblown. I'm willing to bet you'll have an issue with your camera before you do with your SD card.

    • @santanuchanda
      @santanuchanda 4 роки тому

      @@xkben90 you have a valid point here. Sure it's possible to work around a single card. May be I got caught up in the debate of double card slot.

    • @xkben90
      @xkben90 4 роки тому

      @@santanuchanda Yeah, I think what is more important than dual card slots is having a secondary camera. You can have the best camera with dual card slots, but if you have no backup camera, you are out of luck. Many People record video on smaller SD cards (like 32GB or 64GB) and swap them out every hour or two so that they don't risk losing any data. Dual card slots are nice to have, but I would argue that 99% of people complaining about it never had an issue to begin with.
