Awesome video. I went 4 summers, 1979-82. We had the bus bunkhouse too! It made me smile, because that was roughing it but you were too tired to care about your sleeping conditions. I sure wish I had pictures of any of it.

      Thanks Rob
These pictures were from 79 and 80. Bet you have some good stories from your 4 summers.
      Best regards

This brings back good memories, those Massey’s just look like they belong in a wheat field, seems like they should still be there

They must have built thousands of big 12 grain carts lol, the 70's was the golden era....things were never the same after the 80's....long live the family farm

These were real custom crews they knew the hard life and kept moving forward through the states. South to the north then back home

I grew up riding on 750's and 860's. I always wanted to run them, but by the time I was old enough we had moved to 8820 JD's. You had to be a good truck driver hauling combines to Oregon with that 73-78 Chevy truck. Hopefully you had it equipped with air-brakes. Thanks for sharing!

What an awesome video. Cool to see such a large Massey Ferguson crew and that they added a WFE 9700 combine. The 9700 was a monster combine at 265 bu in 1979 when it came on the market. in 1985 the WFE 9720 deign was acquired by Massey Combines Corporation was regraded as the Massey 8590. This crew was ahead of their time getting the WFE 9700 and staying with Massey. What is the story on the white John Deere Sound Gard tractors paint? Is Kretchmar still combing today?

I'd love to know more about those white Deere's also; I wonder if they are an second-hand industrial or government tractor? It would also me neat to know if this crew was still out on the road.

We still have one of those white John Deere 4440 on our ranch. Those were Tegarus farms tractors (not sure of the spelling). Everything was painted white.

I was wondering if anyone knew where those tractors made it to and if they were still white. It'd be really neat to be able to see some pictures of those now 40 years later. The HFWA option makes for quite a unique tractor with a cool story I bet.

@@kennyz6533 they were a very unique sight to see for sure. I was told that they started to get them painted white from the factory. We converted ours to 2wd because the hydraulic assist wouldn't stay sealed. She's still going strong with over 8k hrs!
