Tonight I take the drive from San Diego to Carlsbad with the Minelab Manticore for a brief night hunt. Initially I was only really going to focus on the dry sand, as there wasn't going to be much of a low tide. After getting down to the sand I did happen to notice a decent slope with areas that had formed a shallow cut, so I worked that area for a while.
Aside from quite a few coins and a garage full of dream cars, I also managed to pull a ring!
On top of that, there was a random guy over by the barrier wall digging an enormous hole... what was really odd was that he had a big bag with him too... I don't know, maybe I should have investigated a bit more, but I was busy metal detecting 😂 🤷♂️

So much black sand! I've noticed it really tends to masks quarters and significantly cuts down on depth, but I too love Carlsbad 😊
I hate those low TIDs 6-8, which is 99% foil. But Gold, Thai gold to be specific, has same TiD :/ Thai gold is 24carat btw. I've tested my neckless and pendent with the Manticore. So I have to dig them even though I'm 99.9% sure its going to be foil ever time. You never know. :) My machine is still Silver and Gold virgin....Edit, wrapup: You said exactly what i wrote about foil and gold. :D :D
Yep, that's for sure! And there have been times when I was about to pass up those numbers but dug it anyway just on a hunch and it turned out to be a gold ring
