Experiencing the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Part 2

- After waiting out an afternoon rain shower we were able to get back out on the sand and finish the day on a high note. I walked the parking lot to gets some up close shots of the Honda 250r's before we jumped back on our quads. After doing a few perimeter laps I set up to film a wide variety of machines drag racing.

Coworker of my brother used to race YZF450R quad in sanctioned races. Thing was so hopped up, he left black patches in the parking lot through 4th gear on launch. Pipe was so strong the blast was blowing sand and rocks off the ground. Almost nothing on it was stock. I never saw the shenanigans he did around the workplace but I did travel locally to a track race where he raced. He actually didn't place that well, but it was awesome to see that thing rip the doubles and blow by, pipe roaring. Take off was amazing. Probably a short life and high maintenance 450.

Dude seeing this brings back memories to when I went to silver lake
We've had the rainiest summer here in west MI that I can remember. Usually we have grass brown out for most of July and August, and this year it lasted maybe two weeks. The near record high levels of the Great Lakes tells the story. Glad to see you had a good time and was worth the drive from Mankato. Thanks for sharing your experience!

that warrior is kicking some serious ass. no point in taking a quad to the dunes if you dont have paddles... its a totally different experience.

Came up riding racing and wrencning on 250Rs. Had red bone stock 86, a blue bone stock 87, and a highly modified 88. Loved em all. Best bang for buck is to spend 20 bucks on a reed cage spacer. Major difference throughout the powerband especially low to mid. Makes the front end a lot lighter for trail riding
The 700 Raptor has always been the quad to have for riding the dunes out here in Glamis. Great bike!

Wow that was so cool seeing all those 250r's and that warrior jumping I traded my kx250 for a warrior but I had to give the warrior back because it was stolen witch sucks but i got the 250 back.

@@Ralleballe71 high comp piston. Good ported head and a cam. You can also put a Fcr 39mm carb. You just have to get an intake made

Backwoods Hillclimbers it’s definitely a fun place to go. Weekends are kinda nuts but it’s fun to see everyone riding. We’re lucky we have a dune destination in the Midwest

I put a K and N filter and 4.1 FMF on mine and it's way snapier , just need to figure out what type of tuner to plug in...mine is cutting out alot
You REALLY need to put Glamis Thanksgiving or New Years on your radar..The Day & Night spectacle, the abundance of high dollar machinery and unlimited high speed large dune riding is like no other place on earth 🌎

Find a buddy, get a tent and share the fuel cost, well worth the 27 or 30 hour drive 😀, in my opinion.
you should try the for snow tires its in between the padles and the stock in traction

I have a 2001 Warrior and these things are so fun to ride they are light and can be very fast. But your raptor is so beautiful

BlueSpy81 yeah for sure they’re light not too powerful not expensive at all and u can’t kill a warrior. It’s the most reliable quad in my opinion

Ride*907 AK sorry I missed your comment! I didn’t relocate my key. My dealer did. I know the ignition should have a back plate that separates, I would do a google search!
Man I just went out there this past weekend, was soooo choppy and whooped out, absolutely no drag racing going on and tons of puddles.. there were some really really steep hills though that were nice !

Once i see the SUVs and then fences. By By. Bad combo. Wouldnt be caught dead riding there. No direction control as it appears either Nice quads.
What state was this video filmed in also theres a riding trail me and my father are going to. Its called Bundy Hill in Michigan.

Hey Pete! I was thinking of buying a ProTaper handlebar, what is the name of the bend that you have ? ;)
I have the Pro Taper Contour in the ATV mid bend. It's quite a bit lower than the stock handlebar height. I'm only 5'10" and they work pretty good for me. I wanted lower bars so I could stand over the quad easier. If you like your bar height you're gonna want to go for the Raptor bend. Otherwise you could try ATV high bend.
@@PeteHager Yes I love the stock Raptor bend but I like yours because it has a racer look! I was thinking of buying the ProTaper SE in mid bend. :)

I had an HMF exhaust for this trip. The other red 2019 Raptor from this trip was running the stock exhaust. My machine is currently getting a bit of a power boost as we speak 😅👍

Where can I get the custom warning plates ?
Off ebay, just type in "raptor 700 warning labels" or whatever model your looking for and some stainless steel options should show up. I had mine powder coated black 👍
Did that guy check your decibel limit? If so do you know what yours was & what's the limit?
They didn't check decibels. I've been told they will if your machine is obviously off the charts lol. I'm assuming the limit on paper is 98db's or something but they aren't too strict about the sound. The main thing they check for is registration and a spark arrestor

If you put an aftermarket exhaust on you gotta put aftermarket intake I figured you would know that
You don't "have" to upgrade the intake. Obviously doing a fully balanced aftermarket set up with the big 3 and dyno tuning is optimal performance route but it also costs considerably more and this never been about making peak power. Next week the quad is getting a new intake, new exhaust, and is being dyno tuned. I'm not made of money and have to pick my battles. I didn't have a reliable tuner recommended to me at the time so decision was made to keep the factory intake until now.

Save the sports quad ride out I was there with my Buggys this year I have my Yamaha Raptor my Honda 300ex a Yamaha Moto 4 350 my parents have a Buggy and a Polaris Trail Boss 325 with a Polaris Indy 400 a Suzuki Quadrunner we are definitely going to have to get together again this year and Rip
