Cappo is and always will be the upper echelon of this rap game. Completely unique in his delivery and writing style, but also super humble. Great interview, great artist. 🙌🙌🙌🙌
One of my favourite artists in Hip-Hop. His output has an automatic "quality seal", where you can purchase it without hearing a single track, and just KNOW it's gonna be at a high level.
Cappo has one bar that will never be topped, when he said; "My ink waiting in the pen for the death sentence", on Gilgamesh 2, I had to stop the track and ll never forget that moment. That's God tier word play right there.
Such an interesting bloke. It’s an incredible insight to hear this man talk so intimately about his art and his processes. Not many are so open, honest and introspective about these things it’s really a breathe of fresh air. I am now in the process of going through cappos back catalogue and I’m blown away, I don’t know how I missed this guy.. absolutely my kind of artist in the truest sense of the word
One of the most impressive talents this country has ever produced. I’m looking forward to watching this and I hope it helps spread the word on Capoo. Thanks for this, Blade. Not sure I’ve seen him interviewed before.
Thanks Gez. I hope to get him in the studio for a much longer, deeper interview before his album drops too, so hopefully we'll get an insight into the man behind the amazing talent as never seen before. He is without a doubt one of the greats this country has ever produced and one of my personal favourites
Thank you so much for this! Cappo is in my top five of uk mc's for ages. The guy has been totally underrated for so many years. I hope that this interview will animate people to check out his music if they don't know about it. Thank you for the amazing output!
That's the plan. Its up to us all to make sure his name and others like him aren't swept under the rug and forgotten, but lets not forget Nottingham, Out Da Ville, Joe Buhdha, Mr 45 and a long list of others, all around the Midlands regions
One of the best UK MCs without a doubt. His stuff with P Brothers especially hit hard. I thought their sound and his voice & lyrics were perfectly matched. Cappo - legend MC, and another great interview Blade.
Huge props to Blade for a great interview and shining the spotlight on one of the UKs top artists. Ive been a huge fan since first hearing him on one of Disorda's UK Hustler tapes, and I'm lucky to have him feature on my album Demons a few months ago. Cappo is a GOAT on the mic and he's super ill on the MPC, super talented and deserves his flowers
Incredible interview, what a humble guy and really interesting to hear such a great lyricist like Cappo's self reflection especially on being shrouded In his own complexity and the realisations that this may have possibly hindered his career in some ways while simultaneously feeling simplifying it may also be a fatal mistake. Thanks, Cappo, thanks Blade.
Had the honour of working with Cappo on 2 tracks, he killed them for me. Absolute legend and one of the best mc's to ever do it. Stay strong king. Bless up for this video! 🙏🏼
His back catalogue is crazy. I really started to appreciate his music more from about 2012 onwards though. G3TOUT with Theorist, Unprogrammable Raw EP, his album on YNR, Thousand Word Exodus EP, Postmodernism etc. I admire his honesty in reflecting on the ambiguity in has past work but that's also a strength in a way as you can revisit the music and it can still offer new visions and experiences. I always reacted to his verses like I would a painting or collage.
Soon as I heard him and then saw him on the same stage I was on and saw in person he wasn't just a studio mc, that was confirmation he was well on the way to being on my top tier list, and he's never budged from there. And got to love the person he is with it too. To be fair, that's my experience of all the Nottingham MCs, producers, promoters etc. Notts is just one of those places , and the Hip Hop that came from there was always dope
If there’s one hip hop artist to come out of the UK that deserves to be recognised it’s CAPPO. I’ve seen him live a few times and even if he’s performing a new track I can understand every word. A lyrical genius, a true artist. Hip hop doesn’t deserve him really.
LEGEND Buzzing to log on and see this has been uploaded. Love him as a lyricist and as a producer, got prettty much every Cappo release on wax and will continue to chase down the ones I need. Great series too Blade, big up!
Look our for his new album which is being completed as we speak and he hopes to drop in a few months and please help to spread the word for him when the album drops. Let's get the correct light on those who truly deserve it
first time i seen cappo was at the concorde in brighton warming up for someone else i dont remember who but he absolutely smashed it. i was doing a lot of audio recording of live hip hop events at the time and i gave him the audio. anyway, my point is he did a great job of getting that crowd going but because of the venue policy of having a warm up act and then a large break inbetween the room was dead after they came back in from the smoke break for the main act and i thought that was a huge mistake on their part because cappo rocked it.
Great to see this heartwarming dialectic between two master craftsmen. Analytical reflection, gently provoked, challenged and encouraged. Wisdom gained and spread. Thanks for putting this out!
Caps, to be clear about your reflections on being more direct on the new track about/to your son - you're FIRE at that, too. the track is a standout of the album and the album is a masterpiece. you have the capacity to do that as well, so do what you feel drawn to do. much love and thanks for your efforts!
Cappo is a real lyricist. The bars im hearing on the new project Canon are off the scale! I also relate to not sticking to one topic for long enough. My creative mind wanders when writing so its easy to get pulled in different directions lyrically. Big up Cappo and 05.21! 💯
Never seen an interview with Cappo like this, thank you 🙏 It’s weird hearing him just talk and not rap. One of the most consistent, intelligent and interesting rappers out and an example to us all of perseverence and following your own path. Heavily heavily slept on but we know this.
Thanks for another great interview with Cappo. Interesting to hear his writing process and how he’s open to exposing more of himself thru his art. That’s a brave thing to do, I’m sure people will gravitate, relate and support his new music. 💯❤️
God Tier Emcee. I like when a writer doesn't stay on the one topic, I find that is a common way to write, and I can personally appreciate the uniqueness and originality of cappos method. I find great entertainment in not knowing what is coming next, predicability is also common with artists now and cappo doesn't suffer from that. its good to be different. great watch fellas, very relatable to me this one.
Yeah I get what you're saying bro, and that is a methodology I apply when just rhyming for the sake of rhyming too, but when it's about something specific, then I get into that role but nothing to say we can't flip the content on it's head but still keep it in that role. I think it also depends who's doing it, if it's some below par mc then most times it just doesn't work, but when someone like Cappo does it, like I said, we don't give a shit cos it's still mad dope, as is your work too :)
@@0521Official 100%, it isnt suitable for everyone, only particular styles can manage to pull it off and like you say cappo is definitely one of them. By the way, I'm not trying to knock the method of picking a concept and staying within that realm for the duration of the track, I'm just saying when it comes to emcees such as cappo, I like the unorthodox approach and wouldn't want him to move away from it completely. Not that he was saying he plans to but chiming in regardless. And thank you man, everyone has their own uniqueness, well not everyone but you get what I'm saying haha
@@kingkakarot3000 oh no, I get what you were saying bro. I was just trying to emphasize exactly what you said. Some people just can't go there, but when you got the likes of Cappo, the freedom to swerve the beat and take it where you wanna take it with flows and content is pure unadulterated art that not everyone can do. Brilliance to the max delivered by him that many others wouldn't be able to
Only just discovered this channel, like, this very minute. Blade, it's a beautiful thing to see you STILL repping UKHH after all these years... I will never, ever forget meeting you at the first gig I'd ever gone to. You and Mark B in fucking Barnsley of all places, haha. Mixologists supporting if I remember correctly. We'd talked on your website forum beforehand. I introduced myself and you responded with so much love and knowledge that it genuinely left an impression on me. We talked again afterwards over the phone and you blessed me with so much I can't really ever express my thanks for what you told me that day... and days later I'd recorded my first track. Not long after you dragged me on stage in Leeds and I dropped my first verse live (next to an annoyed Tommy Evans... haha, I will never forget his face, wondering why the fuck you'd passed me the mic haha!!!). Anyway, I'll be ploughing through all these videos. The fact the first one I'm watching is with the god Cappo - the most underrated rapper this country has ever produced - is just a beautiful thing.
