What do you mean you don’t know who needs who needs to hear this. Did you listen all the way through? So many topics. Understanding how to manage internal stress. I've been a yoga teacher for 30 years and have taught all types of "prana yama" basically breath work... and I always teach more ecstatic fuller inhale s to get the energy way up and slower longer exhales to calm the energy way down. he's right on in many aspects... and Wim Hoff will take you to places you need to go, but have resisted. I can now hold my breath out for 3 minutes effortlessly... I love your show Lewis!
My brain 🧠 loves interviews like this first thing in the am. I listen to these when I'm in the shower and on the way to work. I watch both of these guys every week. I just LOVE Dr. Huberman and geek right out listening to his whole show and writing down notes like a mad woman.
Awesome! One of my favourite episodes so far. "The idea of abundance is not that you have so much that you don’t need more, but that there’s enough out there and plenty for everybody" Thank you
In my yoga training we were told that it's essentially about the nervous system. Yoga heals the whole body but the main wiring is the nervous system it's the electrics right. And through breath and movement we can gain conscious control over it. It's mind body and spirit when practiced consistently. And if someone who's been chronically stressed for years like victims of abuse etc I can testify that pranayama is the most effective way to heal the body. If you go and do a one to one breath work session it's like doing ten years of therapy and it makes you look ten years younger. It rocks!!!
I am a master of my mind and body. I rule my being each day. I focus on my mind, my body, and how they both interact with the outside world, and when I notice something unbalanced, I have the discipline to address my breathing and stance, to adjust my perspective and take control of what is mine to control.
Dr Andrew Huberman is such a positive voice in this crazy world. I have dealt with anxiety most of my life, triggered by a childhood trauma. I just started watching his videos for about a week, and I can say he has changed my life! Great video! Thank you for the info! Bless you both
34:29 - This makes SO much sense in regards to: •Studies on motorcyclists show, when an accident happens as a result of a 3rd party or something out of the rider's control, they usually never ride again. •However when the rider feels they had some degree of control in, or cause of the accident, they typically continue to ride for years or for life. FASCINATING.
Thanks, Lewis, I have been studying for years, hoping that my dyslexia would disappear like a bad habit, goal setting every week taking one day to celebrate and appreciate what I have done is important to stay on course. when I get upset for not completing what I set out to do I forgive myself and do positive affirmations, to motivate myself. I have learned a lot from watching your channel.
My mom suffered strong dyslexia and was very clever at covering for it. On some occasions when explaining complex concepts in physics to her I was shocked to find she had already figured it out. So I know dyslexia has nothing to do with intelligence/ Hope you find the answers your looking for...
Ever since suffering a traumatic brain injury, I’ve been seeking solutions. (Meditation helps.) And Dr. Huberman offers possibilities based in science and with resonance in mind, body, and spirit. Thank you for this fascinating, helpful and inspiring conversation. I’m not looking to get rich or famous, just to have a healthy mind.
This is awesome. I have sleep apnea and I also have narcolepsy so I'm Very Very tired especially having social anxiety and depression, my body freaks out. And this is the first time I'm understanding how to breath. Just by doing this, I am feeling a lot better. Thank you so much for helping me understand what's going on and how to control my issues.
I will admit I honestly developed severe depression and anxiety, and isolated myself from others. The only reason I got better was forcing myself to exercise. Started running a mile everyday and lifting at the local gym, after a few weeks I began feeling better and 6 months later my issues dimished completely to the point where I was able to get back to normal living. Tackle one thing at a time, do the things you least want to do, and sweat out the stress and negativity. You’ll be a lot healthier and feel a lot better trust me
Nope.. you had to think about it before you did it.... The reason you got better is that you renewed your mind about that thing in particular. You believed you could sweat it out, so therefore you did.
DONE - "we are not just telling stories we're changing lives" and "whatever you believe you can achieve" are the most inspiring sentences ever they will be always in my mind
I am following this man for a while. I have adhd and his information just clicks with me. Thanks for the breathing movements. It works sooooooooo well! My life is changing so hard! Thanks so much❤️👏
"The alert stress" (you spoke of in the begging) to me was my awaking through Truma (past & present) of Narcissistic Abuse. Contiouseness to whom you are & understanding to become the best version of ones self.
Take the Drama out of the experience, the Trauma lessens. That leaves space for the lesson. Experience is everything. Choices. Never blame the outside world if you want to resolve what is negative-not aligned with your wish, we learn by contrast.
Andrew Huberman is great. Have him back! I listen to his UA-cam videos. He offers the same information in an interview but interviews are more dynamic and impactful. Thanks for your great channel.
I got this ! I go nonstop and very seldom become unmotivated. Sometimes a critical person comes along and insults my efforts in a passively aggressive way. We all know these people ! I have mental tricks to recover after these mental attacks and always get back on track ! Life is such a gift , I can't wait for the next day and all the small accomplishments along the way !
Thank you Lewis for giving Mr. Huberman time to express himself, last time you were so excited. Thanks also for asking such great questions, much appreciated #Greatness
*To 1% of you reading this. I hope you get rich or reach your full life potential whatever lifestyle you live in.* And you'll be the first millionaire your family 😉
hello, as I was listening to your podcast, I realised that we actually do the slow down heart rate inconsciously most of the time. For instance, I practice swimming at a competitive level and I do use the exhale longer action to slow down my heart beatings after a series of very fast laps. I love the way things are explained in these podcasts because it helps us understand how the brain works. Being French, and english being my second language, I find it very easy to graps all the concepts, so thank you very much.
I have experienced a great deal of varied and extreme traumas. There is no one thing you can do to recover, but many different things and it’s not a one size fits all. However, the most important thing to do is to find both acceptance and compassion for the self. From there you can add many methods inc nutrition, meditation, yoga, exercise, supplements, osteopathy, comedy, talking, human support, dancing and the list goes on. But start with compassion for the self! ❤️🙏
When, some individuals, are purely honest , and they are brave enough, to speak about the truth Not because they’re going to be celebrity, they’re following their, most important missions, which they still did not reach yet
Hands down one of the best discussions I’ve heard on dopamine and serotonin being used in applicable useful ways! Love Dr. Hubermans approach to explaining neurobiology. Always clarifying saying when something is his opinion or proven, THANK YOU. 🙏🏻
Thank you very much extremely enlightening. My Mother has been battling bipolar for more then 30 plus years we as a family have all done our best to assist her severe behavioral swings. This interview alone has given me a understanding of her disorder more than any other doctor has provided. Thank you
I have to make frequent trips to the ER for asthma, the lack of patience is real, depending on the severity of the attack. I'm just glad most of the staff know me and are understanding.
Andrew Huberman wow nothin more refreshing then hearing such high level or intellect, wisdom, vocabulary & knowledge, amazing, genius level. YES get him back on. Most people talk and they just run out of information, he's mastered his field soo much what a wellspring of life.
Great episode Lewis! Andrew has a lot of wisdom, it is refreshing to hear a scientist's view on law of attraction as sometimes I think some people go to extreme in 'wishing' for things to happen without putting in any effort. They ultimately keep dreaming and seldom achieve their goals.
Yes! I want Andrew to come back on soon!! Please continue the discussion on neuroscience on all these topics especially healing the body with the mind. #greatness
I wish my 16yr old self knew this stuff back in 1984! I suffered anxiety disorder and panic attacks (for 14 long yrs- totally sober) when it wasn't "common"! My mind knew I had no imminent danger, but every fiber of my being was screaming, 'you're going to die'!!! I could wake up that way. No rhyme or reason for them. It hit my brain first and it was all downhill from there.
I'm 22 and that's me right now .. at first it was the fear that was pounded into our heads as kids reglious beliefs about someone coming out of the sky and if you're not ready you go to hell and how much we are born into sin and basically destined for doom unless you accept this man to save you from your self I suppose .. a few months back I would wake up with almost what feels like a heart attack thinking that this may be the day or night the sky cracks open and all doom unleashes .. I was so stressed and fearful all the time .. fast forward now in my spiritual journey I'm not so agitated about that anymore but there's still an underlying issue about me dying .. it's always there ... especially now ... I've been having chest and breathing problems for like 2 months went to the hospital did an xray and they said it was fine but I knew what I was feeling so it didn't make sense ..constantly the thought is there .. telling me I'm sick in some way and going to die " I acknowledge the thought yet can't stop or control it .. I do believe though that further in my spiritual journey I will get there! I'm learning so much and try my best to apply the knowledge I have sooo much self improvement to work on .. wish you all the best.. ❤
@@letstalkaboutit7983 I'm sorry you had a bad experience in believing in the saving Love of Jesus Christ! It's Love that saves from sin. It's the enemy of our souls who wants to destroy and feed you "the lie" this realm is a choice, and Christ chose to suffer and die for you, so you can be free!! It's a gift. And there is a sure pattern to this human existence. 7 fold pattern actually and prophecy will be fulfilled, whether you believe or not. Look around. . .this world isn't going to sustain much longer. Death is the beginning of life in reality. Our souls live on somewhere. The beauty of Love and freewill is, You Choose!! I pray you find peace and joy and Love❤🔥✝️🙏 Only One Way. . .sweet soul
@@letstalkaboutit7983 you just need someone to reassure you you’re not going to die. Everything is ok. I suffered from panic attacks for years. If only I had someone there to look in my eyes and calmly say “you’re going to be ok, nothing is wrong” and just “breathe”. Hugs are nice too while panicking, but at that time people just looked at me weird saying “what’s wrong with you” or “just stop worrying” or “stop freaking out”. Now you know also the breathing technique this guy talks about too ❤️ I believe some parents/churches don’t know how to teach children about God. Instead of coming from a place of love and talking about grace and forgiveness they talk about fear/hell/devil. They skip over the signs we all are given before Jesus returns. Sorry you were told to fear him instead of a more positive way of going about it. God is just our father. Just like any father, he wants us to behave ( house rules) and have a relationship with him. He forgives us when we mess up and knows that we will all screw up from time to time. Lol Dad just wants the best for us. Take care❤️
OH MY GOSH. Addicted "Dopamine releasing" to everything about this conversation. Yikes, there has not been any view for over a year? or potentially no comment. This is so fascinating. Thank you Lewis. I appreciate this GREATNESS so much.
Finally! The science! So many practitioners with so many different methods. Now I understand that they all are correct for different reasons. Thanks for clearing the air on the many ways to practice and utilize breathwork. I love and appreciate Dr. Huberman. He's a gift to humanity.
Its called "Complex Post Traumatic Stress Response' It is from repetitive Traumas, Little & Big, which can be life altering, every one. Its Emotion Dysregulation. Yes from A-Z affects all aspects of the one who lives this, and destroys families.
42:17" >> Shed a light on things that Neuroscience Scientists THINK we know." WOW!! - What a humble guy! What a delightful interview! I follow your podcasts Lewis, but because this interview I will read much more material done/written by Dr. Andrew Huberman. I really like his friendly and easy approach to conversations about the human brain - which is a complex thing! #greatness
Lewis, you have just conducted one of the best interviews I have ever head- an interview examining some of the most important topics affecting the lives of modern mankind! Your questions were fresh and creative but not shallow! Bravo! 👍🥇 Dr Huberman is truly a brilliant scientist but as well, a talented and engaged TEACHER, and your conversation allowed him the full opportunity to provide priceless inspiration for your viewers!
I could listen to Dr Huberman all day! Absolutely love learning about the brain and how to master the mind (and body via the nervous system) through breathing 💗
Had a “light bulb” 💡 moment during the talk about serotonin. Just in the last couple of days I’ve actually considered that I may be addicted to the pursuit of success. I am constantly reaching for that next win, that next job position, that next achievement, almost to my own detriment. Many times over the last few weeks I have had the nudge to meditate. It is only after watching this that I realize I need to balance things out by devoting more time to gratitude, journaling and meditation. Thank you 🙏🏼
@@katgirlblue I believe the same as you and I believe Dr Shony is practicing something called toxic positivity. I work with people who are annoyingly positive through very terrible circumstances (and expect others to do the same) - I think that it does more harm than actually sitting down and talking through the negative. Also, positivity and abundance mean different things for different people. So you can't expect automatic abundance through just positive thinking, there takes action, aim, and energy to reach abundance, which is different for everyone.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this video. I had so many ’aha’ moments and now have a better understanding of being in control of anxiety and goal setting. Looking forward to more interviews like this❤️
My personal observations in my two Parkinson's patients , is that in both cases , their Parkinson's symptoms came on full force inside of severe emotional shocks to their life patterns . Thank you for talking about the dopamine connection . This is fascinating to me .

Absolutely, for me I need to know why In order to remember when or how to do or use something. Why is important for me. Thank you for making that connection.
Dr. Hubermans videos are like a box of chocolates, you don't know which to pick next and they all look so darn good!! So today I've read the comments first, and what a dopamine rush to read them first... now I'll watch it.
Here's my definition/requirements for a 'Dad Joke': 1)no sexual messages contained within or even implied 2)the language is understandable to people with a limited vocabulary (so it doesn't have to be defined/explained) 3)it can be told in front of any gender (biological or identified) by a person of any age Basically a simple joke that doesn't offend anyone that hears it or overhears it. It should not make people blush or cringe or make them uncomfortable in present company. It should only make them laugh or, perhaps groan, after the punchline. Jokes with puns and animal jokes are usually the safest. Peace!🙂
Excessive and ongoing stress actually deactivates the prefrontal cortex of the brain. It doesn't just take an injury. This is the CEO of the brain that helps us to make decisions and regulate ourselves. But, when it stops working well we have a hard time with CEO like decisions. It is why, I believe, we are seeing far more bullying. People are on overload.
Rewards: pursuit and achievement. Both are vitally important in conjunction with one another. Amazing point! |Attaching dopamine to the pursuit is kind of the definition of the growth mindset." SERIOUSLY needed to hear this.
Hell yeah he needs to come back. This literally made me understand everything I have been doing wrong , what I've done right and what I need to do to achieve my goals going forward. Knowing why and how is what I've been looking for.
#greatness. Fantastic content. The 2 stresses that you talk about early in the show should be called: Triggered stress, and Depressive stress. Thank you both for sharing this. Lewis - I loved all your questions and how it lead to so much valuable content shared by Andrew on how we can mechanically change the way we feel. SO GOOD!
Please have Andrew back on! In a fight with an inherited Neuromuscular disease I definitely value his insight I'm healing the body with the mind. I also struggle with my perception of money. Breath work or knowing how to breath has always been an important skill to know. Having a martial arts background I was introduced to how to control the breath and focusing it correctly. This is a great podcast and explains in more detail the affects of breath and how to use it.

The clearly communicated knowledge coupled with the humility of the speaker, is making this well led interview a very powerful healing tool. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for that amazing interview!!In the goal setting question,I think is very personal -it's said that people tend to unterestimate what they can accomplish in a ten years time and overestimate their goals through the year. For me, having three at least goals is much more duable than only one.Again Dr Andew set all the foundation for healthy thought process and real freedom of the soul .

I can now hold my breath out for 3 minutes effortlessly... I love your show Lewis!
I was thinking that what he was doing was "prana yarna" too! Part of Ayurvedic medicine done centuries ago in India.
"The idea of abundance is not that you have so much that you don’t need more, but that there’s enough out there and plenty for everybody" Thank you
💯. If your cup is full, top others' off and so on. There is enough for everyone.

Cool story bro

Dr Andrew Huberman is such a positive voice in this crazy world. I have dealt with anxiety most of my life, triggered by a childhood trauma. I just started watching his videos for about a week, and I can say he has changed my life! Great video! Thank you for the info! Bless you both

34:29 - This makes SO much sense in regards to:
•Studies on motorcyclists show, when an accident happens as a result of a 3rd party or something out of the rider's control, they usually never ride again.

Hi Naomi, you might want to look into NLP and neuromodulation. These are science based healing techniques:

"done" - we're not just telling stories we are changing lives.
That’s dhar mann
Done - "whatever you believe you can achieve" i will always remember that sentence
That line is what the classic 'think and grow rich' is all about.

I pray you find peace and joy and Love❤🔥✝️🙏

Now you know also the breathing technique this guy talks about too ❤️
I believe some parents/churches don’t know how to teach children about God.
Lol
Dad just wants the best for us.
Take care❤️

Omg! This blew my mind!🤯 Learned so much! Please have him on again!
Another great breathing practice, to calm down and focus, is Ujjayi, the throat breath we use in Astanga.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Hierarchy of human developement as a peak is self actualization. For many people self actualization is helping others.
Positive thinking is something which can be mastered with practice.
The moment we master positive thinking we automatically attract abundance.
Always find Gratitude........... leads us down a beautiful Joyful path ❤️
"Done" "we're not just telling stories, we're changing lives".

When does a joke become a dad’s joke - when the punch line is apparent. Thank you for your amazing interviews Lewis! Please bring Adrian again.
Here's my definition/requirements for a 'Dad Joke':
1)no sexual messages contained within or even implied
2)the language is understandable to people with a limited vocabulary (so it doesn't have to be defined/explained)
3)it can be told in front of any gender (biological or identified) by a person of any age
Basically a simple joke that doesn't offend anyone that hears it or overhears it. It should not make people blush or cringe or make them uncomfortable in present company. It should only make them laugh or, perhaps groan, after the punchline. Jokes with puns and animal jokes are usually the safest.
Peace!🙂
Can listen to this man all day long. Thank you for bringing science to everyone 💞
