I studied computer science and struggled quite a bit. One thing that I kept forgetting is that if you’re struggling at something or unable to understand it’s likely so is 99% of the class
This video is the most accurate representation of the actual MIT experience that I’ve ever seen in a video: spending all your time struggling on psets, along with someone occasionally correcting your pronunciation of “Stata”
OH MAN! I took 14.30...22 years ago...and this brings back major memories. Strategizing use of office hours, breaking the beast into chunks, working it out with other students, STATA...and of course "the next problem set came out a day later, repeat." GOOD TIMES. The major difference from when I was there taking 14.30 is that we still had to hand in paper psets and we'd often go turn them in at like 3 am so we didn't have to wake up to turn them in before 9 am.
The struggle sucks man, but in hindsight I enjoy the process of struggling to understand something difficult and then finally understanding it. So rewarding.
i can relate to your struggles nina!! comp sci is also a challenging for me (college senior graduating this semester here) - not in the concepts, but in underestimating how much time a coding assignment would take only to end up taking twice as long as regretting that I shouldn't have waited till the last minute. math and science classes tend to be straightforward for me if you know what you are doing, but for CS it takes time to come up with an algorithm, code it up, and debug.
I actually learned a lot from the approach you took. I definitely did not do university right when I went. Wish I could redo a lot of it with the maturity I have now. You just got a new sub!!
Office hours are goated. It’s the place where students understand and learn more rather than the lecture😂 Labs also seem to help me understand material.
Ahhh as a fellow STEM major I’m watching this to inspire myself to finish studying. It’s working I took my pre assessment and passed so… yaknow progress
This video is such a perfect depiction of the PSet Life that I wish I'd seen before entering college but am still so glad I saw at all So Many Snaps omg, inspiring enlightening and relatable
Nice video! I'm from Brazil and I'm having a hard time with Econometrics... Stata and R are hard to learn that fast. You really did a great job showing the problems that we face doing this questions hahaha congrats for the channel!
its summer rn, and im just riminsing on those motivated hard working days. thanks for brining me on ur journey sis, gonna study the 1st time this summer soon
I'm business major and psets, case studies are fun to do (when you have friends lmao). Case Studies takes a lot of time but it's fun when you finally came up with the right solutions but psets sucks.
I have never taken econometrics, but a lot of the material looks similar to the stuff you learn in preparation for the probability exam as an actuary student.
this is so much more realistic...more college videos are showing the party life but this is the true reality. you pay 80k a year. it's going to be hard but it's supposed to make you tougher and smarter. no wonder this stuff costs 300k for four years
Here I am like let's do it, with two associate level classes from a community college to save money until i can transfer to Stanford. Then i see these and realize i have a long way to go.
I took econometric class at my school and I thought I was gonna die. I feel very lucky that I was able to pass class but honestly the exams were hell. Not enough time to solve problems (maybe cause my prof is an a$$),super difficult 😞 I hated it so much
I'm also an econ major in India. I'll be studying econometrics this year. I had a hard time doing mathematical methods for economics(will probably flunk at it)
I’m so glad that the econometrics struggle is universal. And Jesus the empirical problems you have to do with the professor not even teaching you how to code is soul breaking
1:40 i put this is slow mo to hear the question out, and it makes sense as a high school student taking stat. Just predict y sub i using a linear least squares regression model, or just a trendline with a slope, by using a linear equation. The goal is to use the given data set (which I assume is given) and find a model that will predict y on x with minimal error, or finding the slope with the least standard error between the line and the data set points. From there, its just basic arithmetic. Im sure the questions get harder, so I'm just gonna keep watching.
Good morning Nina happy Sunday morning and I just wanted to say that your vlogs is sooo good yes I loved your channel always because you are sweetheart and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
lowkey loves this vid sm?? i feel like nobody ever talks abt the process of studying in classes and this was so nice to watch
Right? It's nice to see people doing the college side of college lol
Ahh thank u 🥰
I studied computer science and struggled quite a bit. One thing that I kept forgetting is that if you’re struggling at something or unable to understand it’s likely so is 99% of the class
@@famguy218 Yup, and u just gotta pray the average is low💀
This video is the most accurate representation of the actual MIT experience that I’ve ever seen in a video: spending all your time struggling on psets, along with someone occasionally correcting your pronunciation of “Stata”
Lol why is it pronounced like state instead of stat i still don’t get it
watch nina struggle but still manage to get a 90 is a flex
The score was 93
i relate on a spiritual level on the screenshot thing during office hour
HAHA
Nina always be like: it’s hard, it’s impossible
Then: gets a perfect score💀💀😭
very true ☠🤣☠🤣🤣☠
I knoooww 😫

Oh my god are you from Farmington Michigan and work at the NEI now in DC right?
@@triumv43 Ummmm that is extremely specific yes...I'm guessing you got that all from social media, heh.
whats office hours?
"I'm not particularly stupid" - goes to MIT
seriously. Uhh, MIT student does not get to say that type of remark lol. Just saying.
I would love if Nina would show us more about what she’s learning in her classes like this
I really like Nina's videos on MIT life because this is exactly the life I had at NUS, 75% study 25% socials
The struggle sucks man, but in hindsight I enjoy the process of struggling to understand something difficult and then finally understanding it. So rewarding.
I'm also attending MIT, and your videos make me feel calm. Thank you for doing these videos.
Congrats, I hope you survive your rigorous curriculum.
nina making these vlogs is so motivating for college students all over the world
thank you!!
it is SO helpful & relatable to see other people going through the same struggles. love the format and editing of this video too!!! you're killing it
i can relate to your struggles nina!!

honestly as a non-stem major these seems like personal hell! but woooooo for you with a 93%
she's also non-stem (as far as econ is concerned).
@@nycto16 she majored in CS with minors in finance and econ
@@riyakumar6831 ohhh finance and econ are hell.
I was a stem major too and I don't even know what you're working on lol and ONLY 15 PTS FOR ALL THAT STRESS DEAR LORD I feel like I'm back in college
Had my econometrics mid term the other day on regression and low key think I did well but had to study 80 hours that week to prep for it 😭😭
I appreciate your videos and how you show the behind the scenes of earning a degree from MIT and congrats on your hard work paying off!
I actually learned a lot from the approach you took. I definitely did not do university right when I went. Wish I could redo a lot of it with the maturity I have now. You just got a new sub!!
As an engineering major this hits uncomfortable close to home lmaooooo
Amen
As a Religion and sports teacher I feel you
Office hours are goated. It’s the place where students understand and learn more rather than the lecture😂 Labs also seem to help me understand material.
This is honestly one of the best UA-cam videos I watched , I can relate to u but also not relate to u and I really liked the video style u have!
this was so relatable pls do this again
i understand the struggles - i study engineering and our strenght of materials problem sets take the whole week to complete 😵😂
I'm done studying engineering but man, I do actually kinda miss cramming probsets and debating solutions with my friends 😭
Lol i started clapping when I saw the 93% score because as a baby economics honours student I am already crying and understand how tough it is
I like these kinds of videos idk this is relatable for me as an engineering student!
Ahhh as a fellow STEM major I’m watching this to inspire myself to finish studying. It’s working I took my pre assessment and passed so… yaknow progress

This entire process was so darn relatable. Honesty = content
wait this was actually such a good (and relatable lol) video, more of these pls!!
Congratulations girl!!!! As a economics student I need to say: stata is a love and hater game lol
Also struggling through econometrics. I feel your suffering.
Don't give up!
its summer rn, and im just riminsing on those motivated hard working days. thanks for brining me on ur journey sis, gonna study the 1st time this summer soon
10:42 is a correlation question of a joint distribution. Don’t ask me how I know 😩

Reminds me of my math classes from college. Stressful, late nights with tons of collaboration trying to figure out how to solve the problems!
I graduated last spring with my degree in economics and this video brought back so many bad memories lol. I hate econometrics with a passion
lmfao. can i ask why u didnt switch majors or if ur still in economics today?
AAAA i love this content!!! it's rare for me to find this kind of relatability. AND BRUH that satisfaction as you showed your finished pset 🤧💖
i love this content!!!!!!! the struggle is real sis I feel you so much as an econ major
lmao i just took an advanced econometrics course in college. god bless this field/discipline/subject frfr
If you are curious what the first problem was asking (1:44) you can slow the video to x0.25, or if you want to hear her say a cussy word.
UA-cam randomly recommending me videos of all of the smart kids at smart kid schools makes me realize that I’m not as dumb as I thought I was!
I went to UWaterloo in Canada and this is EXACTLY how my weekly assignments (what we call P sets) went. Thanks for the video!
This video rocks! It's pure joy.
The moment you said Econometrics my heart dropped. This is a whole other level of difficult
I usually come back to this video for motivation!! thank you so muchh

Gread vid, thanks for sharing nina! Good luck to all my fellow students out there!
this video brings back ptsd from when I used to take calculus lol
heyy! thanks for this! it’s super helpful
i took a break from my metrics pset to watch a vid and this was on my feed hahaha thank you for the motivation! ima keep working 😭
At least, it just Econometrics, there are tons of classes that still give me a nightmare over 10 years since I graduated.
So glad I took this stuff at BC lol. 30 minute problem sets for the same material
this video makes me want to go back to school and get an economics degree,
this video is motivating me to start a pset due in 3 days 😭
Absolutely love your videos Nina!
The Wi-Fi names at 8:50 killed me lmao
"Chocolate Starfish"
Currently struggling through Econometrics too!!! Literally writing my pset rn and stumbling upon this vid while procrastinating lol
well this lady is a genius
Econometrics is also the toughest course at our German business schools 😂
Here I am like let's do it, with two associate level classes from a community college to save money until i can transfer to Stanford. Then i see these and realize i have a long way to go.
Ah I remember just looking at the course work and not taking Econometrics as it looked absurd 😂
Imagine actually being able to do work in between classes
not me at northwestern going through the same experience w econometrics and stata altho im sure shit is harder at MIT
As a second year economics student at LSE, I feel you. Metrics is so challenging!
economics is now a stem
once i heard the word econometrics i immediately knew the way the vid was gonna go
God these videos give me nightmares. Grad school has been so much easier and less stressful than undergrad.
Wow, you get to be really dedicated to studying! Congrats with the deserved success 🙃
Yes really the merge up of Statistics and the metrics obtained produces Econometrics.
Grateful to learn from your video....lol.
Who willing and I'm meaning legitimately chooses to do econometrics like i can't do that freaking course
I'm in my first year of doing econ and applied economics / stats is the death of me
I took econometric class at my school and I thought I was gonna die. I feel very lucky that I was able to pass class but honestly the exams were hell. Not enough time to solve problems (maybe cause my prof is an a$$),super difficult 😞 I hated it so much
wait are you saying there are actually people who start problem sets not the last day before deadline?
I definitely love watching your videos
It’s time to party like you just turned twenty one!
As an Econ Postgrad at Warwick, I relate to this too much lmao
Just Amazing video!
I'm also an econ major in India. I'll be studying econometrics this year. I had a hard time doing mathematical methods for economics(will probably flunk at it)
I think your artwork at 3:48 is homage to Verner Panton. I believe its one of his designs
Loved this video so much!
I’m so glad that the econometrics struggle is universal. And Jesus the empirical problems you have to do with the professor not even teaching you how to code is soul breaking
I took this class in the fall. . . got love STATA
Awesome……
You are amazing. I respect you!!!!🙈🙈

Good job!
Who else noticed that Nina can write with both hands.?👀
im getting ptsd from those problem sets i had in college. Econometrics is not fun at all
loved sm this kind of video :D love from brasil
