Watch this short video to see step by step instructions on how to assemble the Flymo Contour 500E and 650E grass trimmer when you take it out of the box.
Forgot to mention that the line is held by two upright prongs rather than feeding it through eyelets. As a consequence the line just slips up and off between the two prongs. I need to take this back I think because this surely is not right.
I only bought this yesterday and used it today having struggled, like everyone else here, to fit the thing together. My budget is Flymo but the previous one lasted a good 15 years but this one looks and acts nothing like the old one. The plant protector got chucked this afternoon, the engine keeps whirring then slowing then whirring then cutting off, the line has had to be pulled through about four times and I've only used it to trim the edge of the lawn. Not sure if the one I've bought is a real dud or this is what it's going to be like all the time.
I have to say that I've had this a while now and still find it's crap. Nothing like my old one for both line feed and locking mechanism rather than having to hold the button down all the time.
Part 1, fit the handle... The arm was a NIGHTMARE to fit , first the grey/black clip is to large for the hole by about 1mm all round so NO way will it slip in as this video suggested , it took us 25 minutes to get that part to " fit" god help anyone less able than us as they stand no chance . Other than that the rest was easy , i have to say it appears to be poor product manufacture for the clip as the other end that connected to the body was fine .
Check to see if the grey part of the handle is in the locked or unlocked position. It was much easier to put it together when it was in the unlocked position!
The flymo contour 500e is so badly designed it cuts out all the time the line snaps all the time on grass. It’s literally the worst strimmer I’ve bought! My cheaper old flymo was far superior to this more expensive model. Do not buy this crap product! Flymo hang your heads in shame 😡🤬
That's brilliant, now how do you take it apart to send it back
Easier to follow than the written instructions supplied with the appliance.
The instructions do hard to understand
Thank god you had a video because the paper instructions were shit.
In case anybody else has a problem with putting the guard on, I found taking the spool off and then putting the guard on worked the best :)
It is a little different from the Operator Instructions order, but it was useful.

Having this issue at the moment. How did you get it in? Brute force?
@@DamianPangChiYuen Sadly yes , brute force and ignorance worked for me, it involved a lot of moving it around. Poor design

Shame it doesn't show the strimmer line mechanism
