    Love your recommendations. I can't wait to get more GGK in the lineup for 2025! I was listening through the speakers in my car and when your intro came on, I felt like I was being called to fight crime.

    I love that your top 50 has so far been filled with so many books I have never heard of before, all the hidden gems! Can't wait to read some Justin Cronin myself, I have heard nothing but great things :)

    A lot of these I've never heard of but sound very interesting. The Given Day is one in particular that catches my eye, I need to move up my TBR, but Lehane has so many highly praised novels that I get choice paralysis on which one to read first. The Ocean at the End of the Lane and The Lions of Al-Rassan I've read and love both!

    • @RedFuryBooks

      Honestly with Lehane, just about anything can be a great entry point!

    The Summer Guest blew me away. I'm flabbergasted that it doesn't get more love and attention. The emotional family struggle playing out in an idyllic setting, in that way it reminds me of two other favorites East of Eden and Sometimes a Great Notion.

    Love this video series - you make me want to read all those I haven't read yet. I've only read the Tolkien, GGK and Moorcock (all big faves) so far. I'm definitely going to read all of Lehane because of you & now I'm eager to try Cronin!

    Another great list! I read The City of Mirrors in October and I also cried. The Passage is my favorite of the trilogy. My next read by Cronin will be The Ferryman but adding The Summer Guest to my TBR. And will also read The Lions of Al-Rassan.

    I read my first GGK this year and it was Lions of Al-Rassan and I thought it was fantastic. I also read The World According to Garp a few years ago and watched the movie with Robin Williams. They both were pretty good. Awesome video Sir.

    Okay now I have to read GGK. I also loved The Passage trilogy so will have to check out Cronin's other works. I've had Atonement for years but am yet to read it as I saw the film. Might have to add it to my neverending TBR.
    I'm very much enjoying your lists. Looking forward to the next.

    I agree with you about The Hobbit and The Lions of Al-Rassan (especially The Hobbit). One can never grow so old and stuffy that he or she cannot enjoy such whimsical fantasy. I plan to read more Guy Gavriel Kay after The Lions of Al-Rassan, and they're staring at my on the bookshelf. Better get busy!

    I'm looking forward to read that Neil Gaiman book. You definitely need to do more short books and novellas(up to 300 pages) recommendations for those of us that really have little time to read, but we want to really use that time well.

    More exciting picks, Josh! My prediction for how many books from The Lord of the Rings will appear in your top 50: One. Because it’s one book. 😁 Okay, in all seriousness, I’m guessing all three!

      Three is a safe bet! My whole life I've thought of them as three books until about 5 years ago. Plus I made it part of my top 10 book series list so I need to stay consistent!

    Atonement is so good, yet so sad. I think we'll see Tolkien 4 more times. I remember really enjoying The Given Day. I'm torn between that and Mystic River as my favorite of his

    All 3 LOTR will make it as well as all your GGk reads and most of Realm of the Elderlings . Also throw a King, Hurakami, Connolly, Lehane and a composer bio in there too! I think Cristo & Dickens will be in the top 10 too! Song of Arbonne or a Fitz book as #1! 🤗

    Atonement took me a while to get into but I ended up liking it a lot. I have Saturday from McEwan in my tbr soon. The Passage was good but i think a little overlong and have some issues with the plot. I didn't feel like continue the series at the time but might in the future. Great list!

    Really great list of books! I need to read GGK because I haven’t yet. Also, I’ve been wondering for a while (I’m working through your old videos to the new ones) do you like James Patterson or is this an author you cut out for your crime fiction?

    • @RedFuryBooks
      @RedFuryBooks  2 місяці тому +1

      I haven't read any Patterson actually! I started one and found the prose awful, but it wasn't him: it was someone writing the book and using his name (James Patterson WITH another name), so I actually haven't tried him.

    Yesterday I nearly started Lions of Al-Rassan but decided on Grace of Kings instead. However, I think I’ll read Lions next month.
    I’m surprised you’re gonna count the individual LOTR volumes separately. Now I’m wondering if books 10-1 will just be Robin Hobb, with A Song for Arbonne thrown in for a bit of variety. ;)

    • @RedFuryBooks
      @RedFuryBooks  2 місяці тому

      Haha time will tell with how often Hobb is up there. I decided to count LOTR separately as that's how I thought of it for years.
