GREAT video. Paul did a great job of educating us on the differences. I ran a POD XTLive for years and just didn't see "enough" of a difference in later models...until I finally upgraded to the HD500X a couple of years ago (love it). Normally, I'm really slow to move to the new platforms. I think, though, that a Helix LT is in my near future!
cmonsterz do it - I've had the exact same history - there is a very noticeable improvement between the hd500x and helix and you can still sell your hd500x on eBay ( I got c£250 in the UK) to offset the price. You'll love the LT :)
running a boss gt-10 since like 2011 still rock solid but the leap forward is massive and saving currently for both a full on helix or the let and also the smaller pod version too eventually
Fascinating how many of the more recent Helix demos I’ve watched as of 2019 feature players holding Yamaha guitars, since Yamaha collaborated with Line 6 on the standard Variax.
Excellent informative video.....this was what I needed to know for adding to my bass rig to replace my BasspPod live pro floor unit. The LT will work fine for my needs.
I've been using the Helix floor for the past 3 months, and it's been a real game changer for me. So impressed ( as are audiences and other musicians I play with) about the quality and relative simplicity to program in something wonderful. So pleased I made this choice. Good luck with it Trance 9!!
REALLY useful video thanks! Both are great, but for me I need the names above the pedals, as well as a volume for the headphone out, so the Helix Floor is the one for me. Cheers! I’m gonna pick one up this week
I have the Lt version and I love it so much..awesome gear!!! I use it in a 4 cable configuration with an Evh 5150 III and everything sounds great and very transparent!! ..I always bring the Helix with me when I teach in school so I can use a single gear for me and my students..and I can connect an audio interface too that I use 4 drum loops or backing tracks.. Really good job Line6!!!
@@cesarr7680 1yr old comment, but here it goes: yes, if your amp has a footswitch input or midi control inputs, the LT can be used to switch channels and other controls in your amp either way, depending on your preferance.
Did u Line6 solve the LT expression pedal fragility issue, or I run the risk to buy one of the defected pedalboards? I've had the HD500 and I was really happy with that, never an issue...now I'd like t buy a LT but I've red a lot of stories about the defected espression pedal...I hope that you've fixed the production issue. Thank u in advance.
Did I get that right? (2:19 to 2:29) To switch the Helix's channels, I need to plug the Helix Amp Switching Jack to my Amp's Footswitch Jack? My Amp doesn't have a foot switch jack except for a dedicated pedal that switches Reverb and Tremelo on/off. So that means the Helix or LT won't work for me with my current amp??
You switch all of the Helix sounds on Helix. No other gear needed. The 'EXT Amp' jack on Helix would/should allow you to switch your amps reverb and tremolo on and off from Helix, either as part of a preset change or by assigning a footswitch.
@@paulhindmarshmusic Thanks Paul. I think I muddled that query up. I'm not necessarily interested in my amplifier's Tremelo/Reverb footswitch (I never use them). I was concerned about using the Helix LT with an old amp (Musicman 65W 112 circa. 1975) but the penny just dropped that I would, logically, plug the output jack from the Helix straight into the normal guitar lead jack on the front of my amp!
Paul, greatly appreciate the info on Helix Floor and LT. I have a question regarding routing multiple instruments (electric guitar, acoustic guitar and a bass) through Helix. Do both unit support multiple paths? Could you please describe how you would connect three instruments and how to route those out through individually outputs to the PA system? Many, many thanks!!!!
Hi. I'm using 4 cable method with my Helix Rack and EVH5150, but when the FX loop cables are connected I get serius "digital" noise. If the Helix output is connected straight to the amp input wverythong is OK. Both Helix and my amp are supplied from the same source of power. I've tried with other amp - the same problem. I will appreciate any suggestions.
Question, i have a Ceriatone amp coming to me and i have been informed he uses a 5 Pin DIN cable to control his (Channel switch/Boost) foot switch. What are my option for the Line 6 HX Effects for this scenario. Also, how does the HX know that the foot pedal controller controls not only channel switching, but a boost as well? Thank you in advance?
Great video. Where can I find the video in wich you explain how to connect external pedals in front or in the loop of the Amp? Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

My only gripe about Helix LT.....Why doesn't the LT allow the bank switches to be used in stompbox mode??? Can Line 6 create an update for the Helix LT to make this possible?? Helix allows 10 switches for Stompbox....LT only allows 8 :(
Yes, my first one broke, then the replacement broke last week, but line 6 support is great, they will send me a Helix floor for my troubles, no additional price

Fernando Laserra no, it would not really sound that good, the Blues Jr has it's own sound and not much headroom... it would be better to run the Helix (or any modeler) thru a powered speaker of some sort, like the Mackie Thump12A. You want clean, uncolored amplification to allow the unit to do what it was designed to do. I used to run my stuff thru dual 400w(each) 12" powered speakers and it was killer.
If I was getting ready to buy one this year will I regret it because Helix Floor 2 is coming in 2020 or something? I really want a floor model. But what I spend 1500 bucks and 2 years later a later greater model comes out? Now that I know what these systems can offer I want the best. I don't want to be late by buying one now and regretting it in 2 years.
Tom Weaver Question: Does helix do everything you need to, today? If yes: Buy it, thats 2 years of play time you’re sacrificing. If the helix is the best choice for you at this time, there's no reason not to get it... A pedalboard alone can cost more than the entire unit, so you're in a good place financially.
