Brave man, using a torch very close to fuel lines. Nice tip on using bolts and not torx stuff.

I hear you H! I had a fire extinguisher ready and the torch as low as it would flame. I also inspected the rail for leaks as well prior to starting.

Hey Dan, I dig your Volvo vids as I also DIY my own 07 S60 Turbo maintenance. You got a little lucky on your sons Volvo. My thermostat is not replaceable as just that simple part. My car has the thermostat housing not serviceable as you need the $100+ unit that comes with a ECT sensor. No Big deal but the real issue is the Torx bolts! You need a extra long T bit to clear everything and get a direct shot at it. As ya probably already know, if that unit doesn't give a correct temp signal, there will be cold start issues. Next up preventative measures for me are accessory belt tensioner, PCV banjo bolt upgrade, coolant hoses, and voltage regulator. I ran a full health diagnostic recently and was amazed that my LTF trim was + And -5% It pays to be as anal as I'am. I really like working on my Volvo. Now near 145 thou miles! I love this car! No rust! it lives in a garage in NJ. Wont drive it in salt roads. Please keep the Vids coming!

Thanks Richard! It really saves a lot of money when you maintain your cars and you control the quality of workmanship.

Richard, you can not buy just the thermostat but you can just replace the old with the new one by opening the housing.

I'm trying to think... I don't know that I had to unbolt the fuel rail on my 850. I know I didn't on my S70, but that's got the newer P2-ish looking engine. I do know I used a 3/8" drive wobble extension while removing the back bolt on the 850. I've since purchased 1/4" tools for next time. Thankfully I have not had issues with the torx bolts, as mine have been in good shape and I do use anti-seize upon reassembly. Thank you for the video.

Using an Oem unit on a Volvo is like the Toyota 3a engine. Much better quality and less issues.

      Hi Emery
Are you talking about the hose from the overflow tank to the tstat housing? If so FCP carries them. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

@@handydand Sorry im a complete novice! there is a small hose at the bottom of the thermostat housing that seems to go back under the injector rail. I cant seem to find any detailed diagrams online in the limited free time i have!

I assume the compressor is not engaging as the clutch is worn. You can shim the clutch (google it) or replace the compressor. Best of luck and thanks for watching!
