Great idea of putting into a bucket of water when spooling.
Yeah works well mate 👍
Hey thanks for sharing, just wanted to let you know it's been raining here over the last couple of weeks. Flowing into Wyangala 73% an climbing.
@@chrisbrayley6271 thanks for the info mate good see it getting water cheers
Love the tackle talks 👌🏽
Thanks mate plenty more to come Cheers 🤟
That is a good idea (the locking switch on the Alvey backplate) i fish a couple of 30 and 40yr old Alvey 600 & 650A’s from the beach/Rocks/breakwater. There’re great reels and fish as good as the day I brought them, but I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve had line run off the reel everywhere because I forgot to tighten the Star nut on the spindle, before putting the rod down after catching a fish. I’ve only just subscribed - great vids mate 😀
Yeah good reel mate thanks for subscribing cheers 👍
Definitely going to invest in a heap of those sinkers
Yeah good idea them sinker will let you when available cheers 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing awesome mate
When using floats for blackfish and mullet I’ve always used removable split shots which allows quick changes in weight to adjust float height. When targeting blackfish off the rocks on a big stem float I use a running sinker like you do and a split shot acts as the stopper for both the running sinker and the float, I don’t use swivels as I fish 6lb in the ocean and when the line fails it’s usually where line has been tied. Downside being when you get snagged you usually loose all your tackle including the float, rather then just everything below the swivel
Yeah mate there's many ways to rig for luderick yeah that's why I use 12lb main line and a 6lb leader with swivels so I only lose my leader and hook not the he rig 👍
i own about 3-4 alvey reels (mostly vintage wooden ones), havnt fished with alvey in a long time watching your videos has inspired me haha
Good reels alvey mate last forever cheers 👍
Cast a long way too.
I'd be interested in a float fishing video using the bobby corks for Tailor etc 👍
No worries mate I will try to get a video done on tailor using the float cheers 👍

I always wanted to buy an Alvey reel. Saw this reel once when I was backpacking in Australia in late 90s. I didn't started fishing back then. Bummer.
Yesh they are a good reel all alvey reels 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing I'm going to ask my sister to buy it for me. She's working there in Australia. Definitely can't find them here in Malaysia.
@@rota2903
You could buy it direct from Alvey , Pretty sure they ship worlwide
@@ianbertenshaw4350 thanks for the info. I'm gonna to survey through their website right now. But I'm not sure which model should I get. Gonna surf through youtube videos to see which suits my fishing needs. I mainly targets breambo if I fish
@@rota2903
Probably a 5 inch A series
Nice bag of new toys there Ricky thanks for sharing the goodies. I also placed an Alvey order this week for one of their rods, the R55 for Blackfish. I was going to grab a Gary Howard rod but they're having production issues because of this supply chain bullshit & cant get one for about 6 weeks, so I'll see how the Alvey rod goes. I'm not familiar with using a float for Tailor fishing, would love to know more. I'm guessing this would be off the rocks not surf? Up here in Ballina the Tailor are still patchy.
Thanks mate yeah alvey blackish rod should be good yeah use the floats off the rocks for tailor with a pilchard on gang hooks been a few tailor around here I will do a video soon cheers 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing This looks like a good online shop too, good gear & bulk hooks/good price. luderick.com.au/
Pretty blue colour. Unless I'm not seeing black properly??
Haha it's blue mate bright blue 👍
Can you please send the link for the clip-on sinkers and floats? Thanks in advance Sticky
Hey mate they haven't been released for sale yet I got some to test out they would've been released but covid has slowed them down as soon as they get released i will let everyone no 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing what's the company name? Also im kind of settled on the 60cvrt reel for drummer. I was looking at the alvey steath 65 rod but its 12ft8 which is a little long to my liking off the rocks. A 10-11ft rod is preferable. I looked at a Snyder glas fsu5120. What other low mount rods are good that you know of in 10-11ft lengths?
@@slyarsenal the company is called leaping Lizzy but I think they mite be changing it on release yeah alvey reels are good go with the reel you like mate they are all good I use alvey adventurer 50 cause I like a smaller reel
Snyder glass are good rods garry Howard make good ones Wilson also alvey rods I not up to date on low mount rod cause having bought one years or checked them out for awhile best way is to see the rod and feel it if you can see if you like 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing I contacted Budgewoi Marine Sports regarding an FSU5120 rod. They said it's built by Diamond Fishing Tackle. Cant find much on this company. Do you think it's a good rod? They gave me a pretty good price.
@@slyarsenal can't say if it's good with out seeing it myself mate but maybe go check it out see if you like it would be the best way 👍
What's the difference between that reel and a 475b
Pretty much the same reel mine is just a newer model both do the the same job 👍
What is the physical weight of the 47Gz float reel in grams?
Not sure does say on the website but not very heavy reel 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing I'm looking for a rod and reel combo to handle drummer of up to 1kg to 2kg. I'll be fishing off some ledges that are fairly high which either may require a long net but preferably I'd like a rod that is capable of lifting up to 2kg. I read that this 47GZ reel is best suited to an R55 rod which is rated 3-5kg line. I'm looking at using about 16lb line for the bigger drummer so what other rods can you recommend that balances well with the 47GZ reel? Or would I have to consider going up to a 60-65 reel size with a 5-10kg line rating?
@@slyarsenal if your fishing for drummer i would not get the 47gz it is a luderick reel your better off with a 5 or 6 inch alvey i use a 5 inch with 15lb schneider klear line when it come to a rod you need to go to a shop and have a feel of the rods to see what you like I would get a fibreglass rod if you are going to lift fish up rocks something around 10 to 12ft long 👍
What line spooler were you using
A berkley one not that good but mate that's why I didn't show it there is alot better ones 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing ty sticks
I use a screwdriver held in my toes, or the missus and kids. Damp rag.
G’day Sticky, what brand line.spooler are you using ?
Is it good to use. ?
Hey mate it's a berkley one nah not the best that's why I didn't show it alot better ones too use 👍
Hey mate, where'd you buy the reel from?
From the alvey website mate 👍
@@stickyfishyfishing cheers mate
Nice. You run weed flies or natural weed with your conventional setup? Noticed some older luderick fisherman running weed flies.
Thanks mate I use natural bait cabbage but have caught them on weed flies 👍
