It wouldn’t be a Parenti lecture without problems with the sound system. Classic.

One of the questions I appreciated in this lecture was the very last one, of the woman who asked about Parenti being Marxist. Like she knew, she could feel and relate about everything he was writing, but paused when she came across the label of his politics. It reminds me of a meme I remember seeing on social media of a Jeopardy template: "Something you can describe in detail that almost everyone agrees with, until you say its name." The student answers: "What is Marxism?"

Anti communist propaganda is very very very common and embedded in America.

@@wobblebobblebabyand people aren’t very bright. They react to labels with emotion instead of logic.

Like many M. Parenti classics, this one stands out in its own way. It’s not common in my experience to get a left discussion of this subject that soberly reviews the socialist project without either idealizing it or dismissing it, and while recognizing the major campaign to undermine from without does not ignore complex challenges and failures inside, all the while making it plain that nothing here resuscitates a still-illegitimate capitalism.
Hope at least part of that will make at least some sense to at least someone.

Around 27:24 got me. We who have been scarred by class warfare are impressed by experiments that actually did work. Never in my life have I felt this more pronounced than in this talk. Parenti. What a guy.

@@themichaelparentilibrary might be controversial but I actually like this talk more than the Yellow talk, but I think it's because this was my very first talk from parenti that I'd ever saw

The real war isn’t between classes but rather between Parenti and microphones

Was Memories of A Future Politics released under a different name? I can't find information about it. He references it at 3:30.
