Not as bad as 1987! Half those tress would have come down then! I used to play a paintball game in a wood in Essex (first in the UK) and literally the whole centre was flat - hundreds of trees came down. They left it as was which made the games more fun! Having said that it was defiantly the worst since I moved here. I went for a walk in my local woods on the Monday and there were at least 12 trees across the path. Having said that most of them looked dead anyway. There were a couple of really nice old trees gone though. Not seen that many before - although a couple of years ago there were a few - one of which was restricting the path for months and not in a place that was easy to walk around. Didn't get the rain though!

@@stealthandysteath1069 What last weekend? We had no rain at all where I live! It was windy Friday night and Saturday but dry when I got up Saturday morning. Frist rain I have had in the last week was last night! I went for a walk last Saturday morning to see the tree across the A40. That was just outside Wolfscastle. They said it came down around 3AM. This was 11 AM and they were finally chopping it up! Sunday was also rain free here. Guess it didn't come as far as here. The wind was strong but far worse the other side of the hill behind me! I lost one low branch and there were a couple in the lane. Lots of bits of branches but we get that every time it;s windy as most of the trees here are rotten. Not one tree came down in the lanes along side me or on the way to the A40. It was the strongest and most prolonged wind since I moved here though.
Back in Essex in 87 there were hundreds if not thousands of trees down and fences everywhere. I went for a walk and every block had damage and loads of smashed cars. I also saw a large house with just a single side strut of it's roof left. The rest was in the back garden and the neighbours roof! Lee Evans the comedian lived a couple of doors from that house so we are talking large expensive houses! - I was born a two minuet walk from that house (I was born at home.) There were boats in the the tennis courts that had to have crossed a beach and a very wide dual carriage way (with a central parking area) and over the wire fence which was still intact! Love to have seen that hit!.
