Whether I watch these at 2:00 in the afternoon or 2:00 A.M. they always make me want to go make myself a meal.
This is a problem.
Razzlewolfflight Lol.. Eat along with me.
+Razzlewolfflight I have a few cases of US MRE's stashed away "just in case" and I have the same problem.
+Razzlewolfflight im eating pringles as I watch
XD same here, but I enjoy his content definitely!
I CANT STOP WATCHING THESE VIDEOS
LABoyGaming same
I love how your daughter likes everything. I haven't seen one yet that she hasn't liked something.
Congrats to your daughter for starting school, and thanks to Kerri and you for making this vídeo possible!!! Great review sir!!!
2dividedby3 Thank you, and thanks Kerri!
Great review! I was really looking forward to this video, so thanx! :) I bought these MREs on Amazon.com and they were sold by a Military Surplus in Arkansas and after I watching gschultz video on MRE shelf life (and how to check) I checked the orange sticker on the box and it had been stored properly. I was a little disappointed with the appearance of the fried rice and the entree. I thought the fried rice would be more like Chinese fried rice (from a restaurant) and the entree would look less like Deny Moore beef stew, but I'm glad it tasted fine over all. :)
1weirdgirl Thanks again, Kerri. Sorry it took so long, but I'm glad you enjoyed it :-) The Boss and I thought this one was tasty.
These are like....grown up Lunchables!!!! 😁
@Li cuz Are you even Thirteen?
@luckpennny seller no u
my boyfriend's brother is in the US army and is sending us some MREs to trt. I am so excited! I've been on a binge watching all your videos this week which is quite the feat. thanks for introducing me to trying army rations.
I've have my fair share of MRE's and they're ok food but he makes them seem so satisfying and delicious and the videos always make me hungry big thumbs up!
Cheers!
I'm completely obsessed with this videos. I stumbled upon them one day when I was bored and now I just can't get enough. Gundog and gSchultz as well....
Apple Great to hear you're enjoying the videos.
I would've never thought that there was a channel devoted to eating military rations from around the world but here you are and here I am. I love how you unbox the food, kinda hypnotic lol. Anyways, glad I found ya and you sir have a new subscriber.
Joseph Rivers Thank you, and welcome to the channel!
It's always confuses me when you say "entrée" in here, Quebec, it is like small snack/portion you would eat before a meal. Like a small salad, bread with cheese (and whine), some restaurant have cheese sticks, chicken wings and onion-ring as "entrée" to share at the table with your friend.
Anyways i like watching your videos, i watch them when i eat alone so i don't feel lonely! HA!
ChaoSSxRiot That's what entrée means here too. I only call it the entrée because that's what the U.S. Military calls them. Occasionally, you'll hear me say "Main" as that's what I would refer to it as outside of a review ;-) Great to hear you're eating along with me.
Been wondering about that across the board of First-Person MRE Reviewers.
Some of the old chicken fajitas from when I was in Iraq 2007-2008 came with peanut butter M&Ms. A great treat.
SWAT-Doc I can't believe they're not in more countries. They don't sell in the U.K. either. Totally addictive!
Kiwi Dude Well, some y'all don't share candy, either. I wanna try a Yorkie bar (pouts, and stamps foot) :( .
SWAT-Doc thank you for your service :)
great video! i must point out, because i am "that guy", the american flag at the beginning has 61 stars in it (!) Thanks for the extra states!
donaldjasoncrunk Lol! Perhaps I plucked that one out of the future.
Kiwi Dude that makes me wonder what we added to the USA
Canada and Mexico ;)
more like china and russia
Delightful! I'm pretty disappointed in the rice, but you always find a way to put the best face on sometimes iffy food, so I appreciate that.
I have no idea why your videos are so entertaining, but they are! I also love the 'Rock or Something' that you have. It made me giggle.
Kat Cheers, glad you're enjoying them! Major Rock takes pride of place on the kitchen bench.
You replied! That is AWESOME! I love Major Rock!
The MREs may be bland, but I think the key is to get mom to send condiments through the mail to dress them up with.
Green Tabasco Sauce!
Brilliant review as usual! Really want to try this one !
Hey kiwi dude happy 1st year on UA-cam you've done pretty good so far and have reliable reviews
Gavin Gattone Thanks very much :-) The year has really flown by. I really appreciate all the support from yourself and everyone else.
Hahaha.. The blooper at the end. Nice addition.
Revitalized Revvy Cheers. I'll chuck anything blooper-worthy at the end from now on.
As far as floors go, better the cutting room than the kitchen ;) .
+kiwi dude you mentioned the safe age for eating MRE's and I thought you might like this. According the the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center in Natick, Massachusetts (Natick Labs) the potential storage life is entirely contingent on temperature, and is as follows (temperatures are fahrenheit/Celsius order): 120/48.88-1 month; 110/43.33-5 months; 100/37.77-22 months; 90/32.22-55 months; 80/26.66-76 months; 70/21.11-100 months; 60/15.55-130 months.
Next time mix the cocco and coffee together. Add the creamer but hold off on the sugar. It is so good, makes a much better drink!
Sounds like a plan. I'll try to remember this one on the next U.S. MRE.
As a parent, there's something unreasonably gratifying about seeing a young child eat well. Maybe something about the reassurance that comes with knowing they're going to thrive for another day. On your videos at least, the Boss seems to makes it easy for you.
this is not eating well...... it's a ration ,not something your suppose to eat every day. they have ALOT of preservatives and a shit tone of salt. if you think this is healthy plz stop feeding your kids stoffers lasagna and go see a dietitian.
Keep up the great work friend, enjoyed the review as always, peace, magnum, john.
MultiMagnum62 Cheers John, glad you enjoyed it.
I would love to see more vintage rations. they're my favorite videos
Had to giggle when you said "Oh I've missed you wheat snack bread" :D Quick question, where do you buy these? I'm in NZ also and so far haven't found anywhere that looks decent enough to purchase them from. TradeMe was a bit of a bust :/
you cant, you have to have US Citizens mail them to you. just like i mail kiwi rations. :)
u mean NZ rations? or where do get the ones i send him?
FT W ~ If you want I will trade you a U.S. MRE for a N.Z. MRE... The kids and I are going to go camping and try they out...
grumpy150 that would be a bad deal about 3-4 us mres would be equivelant to a NZ ration lol
DetectingCaliforniaHD Was about to say the same thing lol
The Rice and the Beef Strips are Yummy :-) In my MRE are Toffee Cubes. This is a very good MRE.I have eaten there 3 Days ago.Nice Video.Greetings!
drecksheep Thank you. I found this one pretty good. Just needed some hot sauce ;-)
Great review as always kiwi! Keep up the great work!
Triple beast Thank you.
My late father served WW2 in PNG. He had horrid memories of Cheese in a tin.
A random memory of his was his unit finding a hut filled up with Cigarettes. Sadly they were all Mouldy :(
I think my tax dollars should pay for kikkoman soy sauce or teriyaki sauce packets like you can get at Panda Express. Or even spray dried soy and teriyaki sauces to cut weight. That might have helped with the blandness Kiwi.
***** I agree. Soy sauce would have been much more appropriate than a salt sachet. A sachet of chili flakes would have taken it to the next level too.
Love the ending, no cliffhanger.
I saw the jump cut with the bread and thought "What the heck happened there?, m..mmmmm guess I'll never know.
MrPlusses I thought that part looked a bit disjointed during editing, so a blooper was the only way to explain it away. Lol.
You need to make a shirt that says get your shake on. I would totally buy it!
just FYI, you can order these on Amazon in the US. you can even select which meal/menu/whatever you want. don't know if they ship to your country... but if not, you've got a lot of subscribers who may be able to help. if you have any you speak to regularly, you could always ask them if they'd be willing to buy whatever you want and then ship it to you.
I mix the fried rice with the entree, seasoning and some of the peanut butter.. Yummy!
Minor hack for those beverages, mix the coffee and cocoa. Its a camping favourite for myself. That and Irish cream... Good stuff KD!
jdniedner Cheers!
The rum and butter life savers are my favorite as well i love them and rum and butter candy Cain things
Good review! Sounds like one of the better menus, for sure. I also love butter rum life savers. :-)
Tony Hadden 1weirdgirl sure knew how to pick the sweets. Peanut butter M&M's and Butter Rum Lifesavers are criminally delicious.
Top job as ever mate! Love the look of those cherry twizzlers!
Phil Steadman Cheers. I'm a sucker for any artificially flavoured cherry product. Love it!
"Just gonna sort of eyeball it" Thank god you don't have a long and storied history of putting too much watter in, eh?
Who? Me? Never... ;-)
Love MRE’s used them when deer hunting in Michigan
Super convenient for things like that.
the Canadian MRE bread looks the most like bread to me XD
you should try to get a hold of the US cold weather beef stew MRE
SamuraiPie8111 That's the cool thing about doing these reviews, I never know what's just around the corner. The only MCW I've reviewed was Turkey Tetrazzini, so I'll keep an eye out for the Beef Stew.
***** for an MRE yes
I'll bet it is real good.
I know this sounds random but if you need the MRE font, it is Handel Gothic.
Hey kiwi dude. What video did you burn that rectangle into your chopping board?
YAAAAAY another video!
Looks okay. Not sure but I'm fairly sure the asian MRE's got the whole "rice " thing down a bit better than other countries.
Plus Crazy hot heaters.
Tnx again for the reviews.
PREPFORIT Cheers. It would be great if the ration designers around the world occasionally exchanged notes and took the best parts from each. It's hard to comprehend just how vast the differences there are in certain areas (as you say, rice and ration heaters to name two).
Ive had this one recently, not bad! The rice was so-so but mixing it all together definately helped.
Kyle Q We found it pretty good. A couple of nice additions would have been soy sauce (instead of the salt) and chili flakes. Just to push home the Asian feel of it.
Kiwi Dude I would definately agree with you on that! More MRE's should include some type of hot sauce and/or ground chili's. Good review as always sir, cheers!
Kyle Q Cheers mate.
These videos are the best to watch while eating :D
Levi Magyar I agree. I do the same when watching other reviews ;-)
Kiwi Dude Keep up the good work! Peace
Many times we would just put water in the FRH and have both the main and the side dish outside the bag with only the coffee stuffed inside the bag. Sorry, the coffee takes priority!!!! That usually got everything hot or just warm enough to eat anyways. Just a FYI. :) Cheers!
Peanut butter M&M candies are also a personal favorite of mine. Have you tried the coffee flavored ones, yet? They're amazing!
Just had the Pork Rib MRE! I swear it was good.
Enjoyed this review. I love twizzlers too. Cherry is good but i like black licorice too and of course peanut m and ms :) looking forward to watching more:)
Just had one of these today. Yum. One difference is that the newer ones come with Tootsie Rolls and not Twizzlers.
Butter Rum Life Savers can be hard to find around some places. My mom actually just found a local store that has them fairly regularly. Love them. :)
Whoever came up with that idea for Lifesavers is a genius!
Great vid man, keep em coming. :)
TheBaconlover64 Cheers!
We don't get peanut butter M&Ms in the UK either, but friends visiting the States usually bring back kilogram bags for me. It is *very* difficult not to eat them all over the course of a day or two - I try my best!
Pete Stean They're addictive aren't they? I really felt like a junkie, sneaking handfuls when I thought nobody was looking. I can't believe they're not sold around the world.
Hey pete i am also from the uk and B&M stock peanut butter m&ms ... they also stock various US candy and savoury food stuff :) worth a gander
Nice to se that The Johannes trick whit the FRH is geting around! have had a asian beef strip MRE lying around for a while and been tempted to eat it ever since and now eaven more so ;)
The Magnus Hi Magnus! That FRH trick worked a treat, so it'll be my default when heating two items now. I'm filming the unboxing of your latest package this week. Thanks again mate.
Kiwi Dude Awsome cant wait! going away for the weekend so my own vid might get abit late. And dont forget its The Johannes trick credit were credits due ;)
Come back, Kiwi Dude! I miss you and the Boss and your square burned cutting board.
Ha I was going to call you out on the "follow your nose" comment, but you got to it first.
Wow! I had no idea we'd admitted 11 new states into the union (61 stars on the US flag you displayed). That jab being thrown, I enjoy your videos. "The Boss" is adorable.
Scott Remish I think that flag may have seen the inside of a DeLorean at 88mph.... dare I say.... "Great Scott!"
From my state of South Carolina to you in NZ sir, pretty cool to think about.
About time you figured out hot to use the FRH with 2 items :)
Gawin Grimm Lol!
Hey kiwidude. In many of your videos I couldn't help but notice the boss' awesome Thomas the tank engine eating utensils. I was way into Thomas the tank engine as a kid. But as far as I know the show hasn't been very popular here in the US since the early 90's. Is it still very popular in New Zealand? Or just popular in your house in particular? Either way, I'm very jealous of her utensils.
Kelly Smith Thomas is still pretty popular over here. I must admit, it's one of the few kids shows that I really enjoy sitting down to watch with the little ones. The Boss and her big Brother have quite a bunch of Thomas things between them.
Would love to get my hands on an MRE for review... Wouldn't mind tasting one along with you!
Gday Kiwi-Dude. I was wondering where you got your " Rock or Something ".
Are they available on Amazon or Ebay?
Bill23799 They're usually found in the wild, but then have to be broken in with years of conditioning and training. Many don't cut the mustard.
haha...thanks.......sounds like a lot of work to domesticate one, but well worth it
Bill23799 It sure is ;-)
The US Mre one not sure if other countries improved on it or not?
rum and butter lifesavers are awesome, we have them in the stores in canada
i wonder what brand is the MRE peanut butter?
Great video, but was the camera shaking? Noticed it around the 5 minute mark
Preckington I noticed that too. Must've bumped it.
Fair does, still a great video. I have a love/hate relationship with them, watching them makes me verrrrry hungry haha :)
Preckington Cheers mate. Always good to eat along with me. I find myself doing the same when I watch the reviews of others ;-)
Can you heat the coco beverage in the frh it's already in a bag? Thank you for the US review!
Christian Aycock I can't see it causing any problems :-) Was great to sample a new U.S. MRE menu. I've had my eye on it for a while.
Maybe could you do a review on the water bottle/ canteen u use?
Do you think it'd help the heating process to kneed the meal packs before heating?
eMatt543 Hard to say. It certainly couldn't hurt :-)
Yeah... Can't sleep and this is a nice surprise... Just hope it doesn't make me hungry...
I eat, as I watch ^_^ .
***** Jaybird196 ~ That is a great idea, but hard to cook at 4 a.m.
*****~ Good idea, but I would have to share with Gilligan (the always hungry kitten)
grumpy150 Awww ^_^ !
Jaybird196~ He is a goof boy and has good manners, but I feel guilty when he watches me with his little eyes.. :-)
Rum Butter LF's are the only ones worthy of buying
I have this MRE but I got instant coffee instead of the one u got and u also got blackberry jam instead of grape jelly
My second favorite MRE. I was really surprised by it when I first tried it. It was better than I though. I didn't get any Twizzlers on mine though for some reason.
albmartinez314 I quite liked this one. Hot sauce would have been the clincher for me.
Kiwi Dude another great review by the one and only......Kiwi Dude :-)
Dean Mullen Cheers Dean!
You're one of the best youtubers kiwi! Keep up the good work! :-)
Dean Mullen Cheers mate, much appreciated.
You're welcome mate :-)
My dad finally found a couple more MREs in his trunk he used in the service. Me and him had a little father-son meal.
ARMD SUPDOG Aww, that's awesome :-) We did something similar a while back, with three generations tucking into MRE's.
Why were there 60 stars on the flag at 0:19?
I really enjoy your videos!
David Rock Cheers!
Have you ever tried to mix the chocolate drink powder with the coffee? It might make it taste better.
+Meeze Buss I have. Love it :-)
The Boss is really cute!!! :)
I was curious. Have you ever had an MRE that made you sick?
I'm sure at least one vintage MRE didn't agree with him totally xD.
Brandon Frost Nothing too major. Touch wood. I've experienced worse from some real restaurants! Lol.
LOL
Lol, fair enough! Thanks!
@@KiwiDudeMRE In America it's Knock on Wood, means the same thing, just said differently. Good video, I like a different accent from the American that most reviews are.
Why is there suddenly namebrand stuff?
Any thoughts on the sterling versus the bridgford breads?
timtrain35 Pretty similar in my opinion. I would slightly favour Sterling, as I've had a couple of less than impressive Bridgford sandwiches.
First! And I've been wondering where do you buy your mres?
you buy mres on ebay, or if in another country us citizens mail them to you
You could also try Amazon.com. I checked a little while ago and a couple of retailers are already selling off the 2014 military mres (super fresh). :)
I was thinking the same thing about the rice when you started to compare it to the Japanese's. Japan knows their rice and how to treat it in preparation and packaging.... well in my opinion that is.
HAHAHA!! I tell my daycare children that all the time during breakfast/lunch/snack... "two hands sweetie/honey"!
Now heading off to grab a bowl of cherry nibs and peanut butter M&M's :D
***** Now I'm green with Peanut Butter M&M envy! Lol. New video coming out in the next 4 - 5 hours (you're the first to know).
there any way I could buy one
I usually keep the cheese with jalapeno packets to take them to school, theyre great!
Kevin Plays Games The perfect lunchbox addition :-)
that was probably the best looking peanut butter out of all your videos lol.
John Garcia You're right, it doesn't get much better than that!
yea here in america tizzlers are very well known at almost every gas station or store. Cherry si the most popular flavor but there are many more
Strawberry is the far more superb flavour.
I must be the only one who hates Twizzlers
SabellaHalfdragon I hate em
The Twizzlers are actually called "Nibs". Twizzlers normally are long, twisted liquorice things.
+Alex Barlow The package says "Twizzlers" on it...
+Mr. Whiskers Because they're made by Twizzlers.
***** What's your point?
Well in general parlance "Twizzlers" on its own refers to the long, twisted liquorice sticks.
***** Twizzlers is a brand of candy, you said so yourself. So "Twizzlers" refers to any candy that is produced under that brand name.
Great review mate.
***** Cheers!
Can you show us the stuff inside the flameless heater
USA NavyCamel I'll do a video on them one day, with a few different FRH experiments. It's basically iron and magnesium filings, with salt.
I miss this channel
Literally when u showed the coca powder I screamed I'm in love with the coca and woke my baby sister 😂😂
Akeiva Mcdonald Lol!
You should try mixing the coffee and cocoa together and have yourself a nice cappuccino.
specops56 Absolutely. I always forget about mixing them up during reviews. One of these days!
Kiwi Dude, I've noticed that fans send you care packages full of American snacks. Have you ever tried Mexican snacks? They're delicious!
MarcoCaifan87 I haven't tried Mexican snacks, but I can imagine they'd be pretty tasty!
Where do you get your mres from
+Rakesh Allen Many are sent in by subscribers, otherwise I've purchased from eBay.
I did some testing to try to make the coco beverage powder and I think I got it. 10g coco powder 30g sugar 20g milk powder for a 8oz or 225ml glass of water. Then again I could always buy nesquick powder. Note this is to my taste and this is approximately what it would be like.
Josh H. Good on you for creating your own formula though.
Yay Crystal for starting up school. I hope you make lots of nice friends. If you have a school
lunch that is really good i bet the lunch lady would love to hear it was " Yummie " from you.
Bill23799 Crystal says "Thanks" :-) She's really enjoying school and making lots of new friends. No MRE's for lunch.... yet.
