In Memoriam - A song tribute to Marko Doles from Ana Pupedan

It pains me to have to write this in the past tense, but here it is. Death is part of life, and we must accept it as it is. The best we can do is spend time with the people we love while they’re still with us, and pray to God for them and for those who have already left us, that He may bless their souls.
I recently posted a video in memory of Marko Doles, in which I shared the story of how, as a teenager, I had the great pleasure, privilege, and honor to meet him and spend an entire day with him and the rest of the Ana Pupedan band-a day that will forever remain engraved in my memory. Simply put, it shaped me in the best possible way. I got to know a group of amazing musicians and, most importantly, a group of extraordinary men: Marko, Simon, Peter, and Bostjan, members of Ana Pupedan, the legendary Slovenian band that recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.
A few days ago, however, God decided to call Marko to heaven, devastating all of us-especially the fans of Ana Pupedan and everyone who knew him personally. Marko was 50 years old.
When I recorded my previous video singing one of Ana Pupedan’s most famous songs, I felt there was still more I wanted to do. So I recorded another version in the hope that more people could enjoy it, given that the previous video was fairly long. I did this because I felt the song was an important part of my youth, and I had more I wanted to express.
Here is my version of “San lejp tih vecer,” ("One more beautiful evening") an Ana Pupedan song that I performed wearing a red shirt in honor of Marko, because I had seen him wear a red jacket at his concerts.
Here’s to you, Marko Doles. May you rest in peace as I raise my glass of “špricer” (white wine with carbonated water) in your memory. We all know how much you and your friends loved that drink. God bless your soul, and may your family, friends, and all who loved you find solace in your premature departure.
