Hehe, took my first steps as a future OBGYN at the family medicine clinic i'm rotating at! First time pelvic exam and pap smear on a real human being! Supah happy! (also, i moved! surprise!)
Hi Rachel! Im a big fan of yours! I currently study medicine in Colombia! Crazy right? I think its very cool for you to know that you have a lot of international viewers...!! I wanted to ask you if you could be more educational in your videos, for example, you could explain what´s a pap smear! However I have noticed that you are already trying to do it, and I appreciate it very much! Thank you for your videos, they motivate me a lot!!!! Byeee ♥️
Yay Rachel!! So happy and excited that you got to do you first pap smear and pelvic exam! Are you loving OB/GYN even more then your expected? I always look forward to hearing about your thoughts and experiences on rotations and in medical school in general! ❤️🐜
Sooo exciting, Amber! I can’t wait to actually be on my OBGYN rotation. Seeing all these GYN patients on my family medicine rotation is building my excitement more and more for that rotation. Can’t wait 😭❤️
My two favorite medical UA-camrs are America and Rachel. I can't describe how excited I get when they post their videos. Sending you lots of love Rachel!😊😘
Rachel, I live in a town with a large medical school so about half the time I go to the doctor's office I talk to a medical student. I like talking to them and have no problem with them doing things that I know are probably their first time. They always seem so eager to do the very best job they can do. In fact, I had a life-changing visit with a medical student once when he told me how to prevent ear infections I am prone to getting when scuba diving. So what you are already doing can have a big impact for your patients!
can you do a video on what your studying looks like after your day at the clinic? you have lots of videos on how you studied pre-clerkship so id love to see the difference in preparation during clinical rotations. appreciate you very much
*"Everything in life is easier when you don't concern yourself with what other people are doing."* The chances of you seeing this comment is pretty low, but if you did, *I hope you have an amazing day.* 🖤
I discovered your channel October last year and today felt the same vibes out of the video... You look so happy! All the tough days, sleepless nights... It was all worth it... It was ALL worth it OMG😭
Absolutely love seeing you so jazzed about gyn!! Your happiness is just radiating this week. Happy to see you’re in a better mental (and physical) space. Keep up the great work! 🐜❤️
I am so proud of you!!! I have been here since you took your mcat and your journey, your attitude, determination, and how much you have grown as a person throughout the years just blows my mind every time. You are an incredible human and are going to make an amazing OB/Gyn.
Hey, Rachel! I think it’s super cool that you make these videos. I’m a pre-med student and your videos are a very anticipated part of the week. Keep at it!! 🥳
Love your new rotation vlogs !!😍 but i also miss that satisfying ASMR montage of you making coffee with your Keurig every morning and watching it literally motivated me to get up and make coffee for myself and get to studying; like they were SO cute! would really like to see those come back if it does match your new daily schedules 🥰
I had my first Pap smear not too long ago and I thought it was amazing! It only made me more excited for the next ones 😂 ugh truly love women’s health!!! So happy for you Rachel 🥰🥰
Pre-med student here! I watch your videos for inspiration to keep going. There is a looong road ahead of me before I become a physician and your videos always remind me why I’m working so hard! Thank you! You are going to be an amazing doctor!
Woohoo! So happy for you, Rachel! I'm a third year veterinary student and I totally understand the excitement. I just finished up an equine palpation course and I was high as a kite when I felt my first ovary!
Love to see you happy! um things to include in your vlogs? ASMR coffee making lol. But honestly I don't know how you're doing everything and still vlogging. Just watching someone else put in the work and see great results is educational and useful so no pressure in adding more.
Just want to say thank you Rachel. I have been really struggling lately and it has affected my grades. You have inspired me to keep going. Your videos mean more than you know. THANK YOU!!!!💗💗💗
So happy for you, congrats of your first pap smear on a patient!!!🎉 definitely first of many, like you said keep up the awesome work😁 would you be able to include in a video your desk essentials? (types of desk chairs you recommend, decor, school supplies, etc.) Thank you!! Love your content, it keeps me motivated😊
studying and stressing for an organic chem test and this really brought my mood up! Keep up the good work, nice to see hard work pay off! wishing you the best!
Its crazy to me watching you and seeing how far youve come!! Ur definitely one of my biggest inspirations and part of what made me realise how much i want to do med myself. I hope one day i get to feel as passionate about a specialty of my own. Keep grinding girl!! Youre amazing. Never stop being you ;))
commenting for the algorithm (doing a pap smear/bimanual/spec exam is an art to do it quickly while keeping the pt comfortable. Had a lot of practice with those on my OBGYN clerkship - good job! ^_^)
I have been watching your videos recently and they really help tremendously! I am a first generation college student so it’s really difficult to have guidance on what it takes to be a DO. You have inspired me to stay dedicated because the result is so worth it! My only concern is the admission requirements… they are quite scary which is why I am so torn between being a PA or DO. Both paths are amazing and interesting but I am super scared about the competitiveness. Maybe you can share more about your experience as a young student?! I heard about bridge programs and taking a gap year to shadow+ retake/take classes you need or need to better your grade. I have met no one like me which makes me worried if I am really meant for this path! I hope you see this bc it would seriously help so much. Other than that, You’re amazing Rachel! Keep it up :)
Awww Rachel I loved seeing you so excited about all the GYN stuff! 💕 I’m a PT student and seeing your excitement makes me so pumped to go into work tomorrow and do my own version of that!

Hey! Rachel you new place looks so lit 🔥 really waiting for study with me videos and gearing myself to get motived from those from your new house ❤️ really happy to see you happy and healthy 🙃 LY always!
Hey Rachel, I know I'm late but I've been binging your videos for the past week now (love them btw), and I'd love to see how you handled yourself financially throughout med school because of all the coffee you've consumed during your study sessions lol and paying for rent and other stuff that seem expensive. P.S. I'm a first gen 3rd year undergrad and I think this will help me out a lot when I attend med school!
Random question: how different is learning in medical school compared to college/high school? Is it more memorization or understanding concepts? Like how do you know what to make your anki cards on? Also congrats!!
I’m sooo not looking forward to doing gyne. I get nauseated just talking about menstruation. I actually passed out when a patient of mine that came to the ED bc she was spontaneously aborting the fetus at 16 wks gestation. @rachelsouthard Do you have some tips on coping with things that make you queazy during your training in med school?
hi Rachel I'm a med student in italy, I love your channel and I love your energy, I often come to your channel when I'm not feeling motivated or I'm feeling discouraged about my future... and you really help cheering me up

Yay! I still remember this feeling so clearly even over a year into residency! It is so exciting to see your excitement!
As a suggestion for future videos, can you bring back the facts about the body you used to do? I always found them fascinating!
