I urge Facons fans to pay this guy no mind. He is always going to attack the Falcons because they did not hire his king. He is also a former bitter GM who can't keep or find a job.
@@davidhughey1386 I did which is why I made the comment that I made. This is a pattern with this guy since the coaching hiring. We can go into the weeds with this but it is not that serious for me.
I love it. I will admit the draft might I was killing this franchise and for the following week it was the sky was falling but I’m off the ledge. This was a smart move. I thought going into the draft i thought he was better than Maye and Williams. He’s him and we are winning 11 games this year.
I like what you said there at the end. Go ahead and get your QB for the future in the first round. Now that is out of the way, man did they go defense.
Penix wasn’t a bad pick and they got the player that they wanted and they knew that he wasn’t going to be available for them to get him later on in the draft and this wasn’t a panic pick.
He himself isn’t a bad pick, you are correct. It was the circumstances and it being the 8th pick. You would think we go win now and not 2-4 years down the road, after signing a QB to a large contract. The pick has grown on me and I like Penix, as a player and his character, but it’s still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.
@@marcuswilliams5255 and you have to realize that they knew it wasn’t going to make a whole lot of sense to some fans and media and they was willing to take the heat for it and they wasn’t drafting for what the fans and media wanted and they was drafting for what they wanted and the vision they have for our and we have to trust their process.
My buddy asked who I thought Atlanta would take the day before the draft. I told him Odunze, Dallas Turner, or a dark horse option of Penix. Following the team on a daily basis, weeks leading up to the draft was reported that ALL of the falcons brass were at a private workout for Penix. You don't send a contingent like that cross country to blow smoke up other teams asses. To those who were shocked by the Penix choice and didn't at least see a 10% chance of it coming, you either weren't following the team in the off season or really thought it was a mind game the falcons were playing. I'm not by any means saying "I called this pick," but I am saying I was not shocked in the least
It works because the chance to draft a high caliber QB only comes around when your team is in position to draft one. Atlanta is very smart. They picked a QB they can use as insurance. If their starter gets injured, the have a gamer to put in. When Cousins is not performing well, they have Penix. Why wouldn’t they pick a player of high talent to play QB. The future. A QB who can play behind a pro bowler! Thats actually very smart. The pieces are there for Atlanta. They have a great foundation.
I personally liked the Penix pick. Initially hated that we didn’t trade back but then I saw reports that the Raiders and god forbid the aints got him and he turns out to be good. I was so happy when the chiefs jumped them for Mahomes lol. I’m not saying Penix will be Mahomes but I love his film and his arm I’d just say he needs to work on footwork.
I wanted Penix, but didn't think we'd draft him after signing Kirk. Understood the pick immediately, and I'm thrilled. Everyone had Dallas Turner as their guy, but I saw him as Vic Beasley 2.0......... Just sayin, I'd rather take the Falcons take a shot with Penix, even if he has to sit for 2 years. Also, Kirk is old and coming off an achilles injury. On top of everything, I don't think there will be a QB of Penix's caliber available for the Falcons to draft in the next few years to take Kirk's place when his contract is up.
😢 that was my first emotion because I knew nothing about Penix and thought OMG how stupid if they were going offensive Odunze however now after looking at tape on Penix ❤❤❤ he can scramble and he may be the best quarterback in the draft I believe he is the long term solution for the falcons
And everybody acts like Kirk is in his late 20’s and not realizing that he’s going to be 36 years old and he’s probably going to play about 3 more years at least and we don’t know when he’s going to hit that decline wall and when he does they have his successor.
I’ll admit draft night I was furious and confused and fed up bc I was getting texts on my phone like wth is wrong the falcons and the announcer that announced the pick on tv was in shock when he did so But after letting it sit for a while I understand it more We had him at #2 and so did almost every team and we like him for the future and after drafting him we then went to our second major need which is defense and overloaded in the later rounds So good job afterwards The only thing that still pissed me off is.. With all this said and done we overpaid for cousins like a beast We could have gotten a cheaper qb with upside potential to win us games We have a S*** division which means an easy schedule and could easily have went to the playoffs with (Wilson or fields) the Steelers qb room is less than half of cousins contract Y pay kirk so much cash We could have gotten a solid qb and then in FA get a stud on the line or mlb position while still drafting penix for the future
Falcons are playoff contenders for 15 years now. Commentators will spew goo, but their moves were smart. If Penix sits two years, that won't be a problem. The only panic is in your attempt to justify your inability to grasp what the Falcons are doing. BTW, I am not a Falcons fan, I am a Seahawk fan.
Draft night i was inconsolable. I understand drafting a project qb for the future when he is 21 years old and taken near the back end of round 1 but to waste the 8th pick on a player that wont see the field for at least 2 years barring injury. Either you have a 100 million dollar player on the bench or a top 10 pick on the bench. Either way its bad. Plus theres no guarantee that penix will even be a good nfl qb. Ive seen plenty of sure things bust in the nfl. Qb is a high risk / high reward pick. Edge rusher like latu would have been much less risk and filled an overwhelming need on the team. Its been weeks and i still dont like it. I hope im wrong. I really do. I want my team to be successful obviously but im not optimistic. Things rarely work out for us so maybe thats why i can see this going south too.
We have already drafted two 1st round busts at Edge in the last 10 years… I would rather go QB again in knowing that the last two times we picked QBs in the 1st, they went on to be arguably Hall of Famers
Why do people act like injuries is not a real thing ?? If kirk cousins is winning But injuries He can't finish the seashore You see why we have QB Michael

I think Dorlus was a steal for us and he fits well in a 3-4 defensive scheme
