I never was able to get into this "Young Sheldon" show. 😕 I'm a big fan of Big Bang Theory after my wife introduced me to it, and one of my favorite things about the show is Sheldon because of how I can relate to him. Not because I'm a super genius hehe, but because Sheldons character clearly has some form of autism like I do (high-functioning autism). 🙂 My wife thought it would be funny for me to see a show with a character who were a bit like me. 😂 And I love seeing Sheldons "moments", where he acts like an extreme version of how I am at a daily basis. It both makes me laugh, but also gives me a "helicopter view" on how others low-key view me at a daily basis, which is very interesting. 🙂 Adult Sheldon in Big Bang isn't mean to people on purpose, but is so unknowingly because of his lack of social skills. And when things don't go his way, or his routine is broken, Sheldon has meltdowns. And then we have Young Sheldon... Which makes him seem like a mean little "Sherlock Holmes" who manipulates everyone around him because "he knows he is smarter than them", while not acting like a kid his age. It is so far out of character from the adult Sheldon I loved watching in Big Bang Theory. 😕 I also noticed that young Sheldon clearly understands sarcasm... 😅 Which is one of the key quirks adult Sheldon struggle with trying to learn. It is VERY odd to see a young Sheldon, who is MUCH better socially than adult Sheldon. Kind of like his social skills regressed as an adult. And yes... Not understanding sarcasm means you won't be able to perform sarcasm. I see people in the comments defending the plot holes like this one saying "you can be sarcastic even if you don't understand it". Which is not true in Sheldons case hehe. 🙂 There is a BIG difference between "not understanding sarcasm", and "not knowing how to read sarcasm". One is a complete lack in understanding it (which adult Sheldon has), and the other is a typical autistic trait where 'emotion recognition and expression' is lacking (which I have). But in the end it doesn't really matter... Young Sheldon is clearly meant for a different target audience than Big Bang Theory was. They took the "Sheldon brand" and went a different direction with it, and people seem to enjoy it for what it is. 🙂 It's just too bad seeing some of the Big Bang Theory fans being disappointed when they start watching Young Sheldon expecting it to give off the same energy as Sheldon did in Big Bang Theory.
😕 I deeply agree especially the first part, young sheldon's clips alone make me feel the way sheldon did when he was asked to sit somewhere else 😹 Young sheldon is straight forward mean and manipulative, lacks a lot of basic manners when it comes to treating people in my opinion, on the other hand sheldon is just a genius who seems to be on the spectrum and extremely lacks social skills but is a sweet and lovely human who tries to improve
I think the professional actually did provide a comfortable environment for them to discuss the issue, for which he should be given the credit. Sometimes a home environment does not necessarily enable such discussions.
I enjoy PB and butter, almost as much as PB and cheese, a favorite of mine since pre-school. And dry cereal with no milk. So what, that's the way I like it!
This episode shows the root of all of Mary’s problematic parenting. The problem isn’t that she loves Sheldon more than Missy and Georgie. The problem is that she worries about him more. Because of Sheldon’s mental differences, Mary fusses more over Sheldon and protects him more than she should because she doesn’t trust him to react maturely or see reason. In this very episode, instead of telling Sheldon right out WHY she was babying him, she kept him in the dark because she was trying to protect him from the awful truth, because she thought he couldn’t handle it.

My wife thought it would be funny for me to see a show with a character who were a bit like me. 😂 And I love seeing Sheldons "moments", where he acts like an extreme version of how I am at a daily basis. It both makes me laugh, but also gives me a "helicopter view" on how others low-key view me at a daily basis, which is very interesting. 🙂
Adult Sheldon in Big Bang isn't mean to people on purpose, but is so unknowingly because of his lack of social skills.
I also noticed that young Sheldon clearly understands sarcasm...
😕 I deeply agree especially the first part, young sheldon's clips alone make me feel the way sheldon did when he was asked to sit somewhere else 😹
Young sheldon is straight forward mean and manipulative, lacks a lot of basic manners when it comes to treating people in my opinion, on the other hand sheldon is just a genius who seems to be on the spectrum and extremely lacks social skills but is a sweet and lovely human who tries to improve
My parents would slapped the crap out of me if I talked back to them like Sheldon.
I think the professional actually did provide a comfortable environment for them to discuss the issue, for which he should be given the credit. Sometimes a home environment does not necessarily enable such discussions.
At the end, I was expecting Sheldon or Mary to say “Do you mind? We’re having a moment here.” 😂
Watching while I eat peanut butter and butter toast
+B Money Fantastic! I invented that in my birth family many years ago. The rest all use jelly or jam. I shall have to try it your way the next time.
I enjoy PB and butter, almost as much as PB and cheese, a favorite of mine since pre-school. And dry cereal with no milk. So what, that's the way I like it!
I didn’t know Sheldon was capable of sarcasm
per TBBT the very concept od sarcasm is lightyears over his head. he means what he says
Oh wow, telling your kid the truth worked.
Poor guy, always gets yelled at by Sheldon's mom.
right on right on
This episode shows the root of all of Mary’s problematic parenting.
I wish Mary would listen to Missy and Georgie the way she listens to Sheldon
3:09 is why I love Mary.
That psychologist is insanely cute.🙂🙂🙂🙃
I really wish I knew Sheldon as a kid so I knew how to talk my mom out of washing my mouth out with soap
Every Mom Ever
"You do not take credit for this!"
Mary was the perfect mother for sheldon
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!
That wasn't much of a "test"! 😂😂😂
Thumbs-Up #616 here Thursday late afternoon 6 August 2020! I like Mom’s quip at the “Psychologist’s” summary of the situation “do not take credit for this!”. 😆
@Christopher Bingham He was not trying to take credit. But yes, she should have.
"Although sometimes I wonder if I should've taken him to that specialist in Houston."
love meemaws reaction to the genetic comment.
That kid was definitely pushing it.
and there you go, they managed to take all of the commedy out of this.
I would like to point out that, according to this clip, Sheldon did NOT get tested for insanity.
