I think if you'd seen the series and known how much work and money went into this thing, you'd know we didn't build it to make of fun of anybody. So... go watch the rest of the series 😉
Excursion is a badass machine. If I had the extra money, I'd have one too. They don't even make them anymore
You can get them used for a decent deal but they are gaining popularity.
Well you answered my question if full size truck could do it...but after watching excursions locked up and sliding in hairpin curve no thanks on full size standard transmission...pucker factor big...NoGuts NoGlory😄😄👍👍
People have done it in full-size CCSB trucks. Which are definitely longer wheelbase than me. The Ex has the same wheelbase as a Jeep Gladiators.
@@freedomworx I. Guess I have to much pucker factor..long way down&I'm not afraid of heights..lol
It wasn’t that bad. But I wasn’t driving either. 😬
Looks like fun, but scary at the same time. Great job!
It was!
Well I hadn't put eyes on Black Bear to see if my Ex would fit, because yeah you can't turn around past the peak. That one washout of the road is the spot I needed to see about. People who don't wheel an Ex have no idea where it can and can't fit. Now I know and now I will make the drive across the state. Sweet, thanks.
No problem with a good spotter 👍. Do it!
It is worth the trip for sure, just watch the weather.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I'm al old hand at alpining and offroading, plus I'm basically a Colorado native at this point. Weather changes are a way of life for us lol! Glad you guys had fun.
Yall are some brave souls taking a fullsize rig on Black Bear!
It wasn't that bad. Didn't even have to use 4wd.
Nope. We’re just dumb.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I was mainly just thinking about that wheelbase on those switchbacks. But I guess y'all's rig has a bit of a better turn radius with the upgraded suspension. I have a 99 7.3L super duty and that sucker would need an 8 point turn haha
the coil swap helped turning radius for sure.
What an epic build I love it
it works so good
Looks like it's a great time for everyone, all the best to yous and your loved ones
Thanks we had a blast out there.
It was a blast. Thanks for watching.
Dream rig! Semper Fi!
Fellow crayon eater 👍
It works better than I could have ever imagined.

Dream rig
It’s a beast
you guys are wild taking Bear Pass!!!! hats off to you
Not wild…foolish. 😂
It was easy
@@BustedKnuckleVideo word has it driver seat has a permanent pinch crease in the middle of the seat from this trip.
probably right about that
Took the blackbear --> telluride --> imogene pass loop myself with my Isuzu Trooper a few years ago. It's the best time!
amazing views out there.
It’d be hard to beat the views on that loop.
Did this pass on a KLR650. Went down on the Ouray side with sunlight going away, one of the most challenging rides I've done. Great video!
I bet that was fun
I’d love to do it on a Dual Sport.
I used to drive a Chevy 5500 Kodiak with the long wheel base and a long steel dump bed on it. It weighed 11,500 pounds empty. That Excursion is insanely heavy for it's size! Holy lol!!
well it is lifted and loaded down with a lot of gear plus 4 grown dudes
I was clinching on Black Bear in my 2 door Rubicon. Ya'll are crazy!
wheelbase is your friend LMAO
It's called Knucklehead Garage for a reason. 😛😛😛
Seemed like one hell of a ride to Telluride! Enjoyed the video
It was a good time!
It was… scenic 😳
Atlanta to Amarillo Texas up 287 across 160 to I-25 to Denver, or 87 into Clayton New Mexico to I-25. Less traffic great views. Gallup New Mexico up to shippin rock and head west towards the 4 corners then mighty 5 in Utah. Great overland trails. I’m a retired truck driver from canton Georgia, now live in southern utah.
Sounds like a good route
Loved this video. So cool. When buying a used excursion how do you know what you’re buying is something reliable enough to take into the wilderness vs some busted junk?
We rebuilt the entire truck so we know
Makes me wish I still had my 2002 F250 7.3 Powerstroke! Have to hand it to you boys, we just made the trip from Alabama to Silverton and stayed the last two weeks of Sept. Didn't overland...trailered our YJ's out there and rented a mountain cabin to trail ride for two weeks. Congrats to you, my cajones ain't as big as softballs and there is no way I would have done that in a four door, full size truck. I thoroughly enjoyed this video!
It was easier than we thought
Not sure if we have big ballz or little brains...
Just subscribed!!!!
Awesome video guys!!
Bad ass rig!!!
Welcome to the Channel!
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it 👊🏻
Your Videos have inspired my build!
That’s awesome! We love to see people building their own rigs.
Love your Excursion, I have a 4x4 '97 Diesel Suburban, cool 😎 video guys!- Mr.Peloncito
Thanks it has been a fun build!
She is a beast fellas….
😂❤love it keep it coming.
it did well out there
My MegaLander certainly rolls coal - hard too! Lol my 2005 looks just like yours. Need to fine tune the set up so my boys and I can follow your path! Love it!
I need to get those leafs off the front, and get those coil overs. Already running 37 12.5 18 but I need to steer! Lol What set up you guys running?
You must have a Mega Cab??? I have a Carli Coilover setup for a 2005-07 Super Duty up front. It’s a lighter spring rate surprisingly. I am running their radius arms as well. Hydro Assist is from Lee Power Steering. We’re have a full build series on this channel.
Here is the build video- ua-cam.com/video/TWa3WvxJnIc/v-deo.html

Nice build. I want to set up my Suburban similar. If i get my hands on a 2500 Burb, i will surely Duramax swap it.
Would ride nice on IFS

Stay blessed and safe travels

Thanks for watching our adventure.
Thank you for posting this. I've been wondering if my excursion can fit down Black Bear. If I make it through transplant I plan to take mine out that way.
I’m not sure if your talking about an engine transplant or an organ, but good luck either way. Get out and enjoy that Ex 💪🏼
Kidney transplant. Thank you.
Good luck on the transplant. The Ex can do it no problem.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo thank you
I used to take Phantom Canyon Road back and forth to work everyday. "Purdy" ride!
It’s a very scenic drive. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
that would be a fun daily drive
big or not, you guys got balls of steel =]
Balls of Gold. It’s like balls of steel but more expensive…and softer 🥜
It isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Now in a thunderstorm that would be another story.
Good video guys I must say. Doing this in 2wheel drive with good tires prove it can be done with skill friends and patience 👌
We did have 6300 pounds on the rear axle 🤓
2 Low helps
Did the steps feel crazy that beast ? Nice driving
It wasn’t bad from outside the rig holding the camera 😬
Fawk, your rig is badass! Nice
Thank you. It turned out even better than I’d hoped 💪🏼
It has come a long way.
I had to subscribe once I seen the veteran tag
Glad you found us!
might be the biggest ever made. but its also the best ever made
Facts! Maybe 😂
With a little work they can be pretty awesome
We did the alpine loop over the summer. Incredible trail and views
Challenging in a rig this big, but definitely worth it for the views.
that one camping spot was perfection
Awesome rig! Looks great, sounds great! 🔥❤️
Thank you. Be sure to check out the other videos in the series 👍
A lot of work has gone into this beast.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo I know how it goes, I have an old $hitty Jeep. 😁
I have always loved the Excursion and as a Land Cruiser owner, that is the one American vehicle I might be persuaded to switch to. What is your highway mpg?
Around 12 with the RTT and 37s
15 HWY before the tent, about 12.458976 after the RTT was installed.
@@BustedKnuckleVideo my jeep grand cherokee gets 14 on highway...
Wow. Im so impressed some guy bought a truck and paid people to modify it for off road use then he drove it 5k miles on a highway. its amazing!
Who hurt you bro? Literally nothing about your post represents this build, the trip, or the video. Keep on hating. Haters make you famous 😎
Wait he paid people to modify it? Where is my check? LMAO
I remember seeing you guys up there.. Thought you was crazy for taking that heavy full size over black bear.. I'm in the red jeep at 24:12 My first time on Black Bear as well.
Small world. That’s cool. Thanks for watching 👍

I'm just glad that you brought cast iron pans along for even more weight! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We cook steaks like men on Cast Iron not some hippie dippie non stick BS.
This rig is bad ass. The build series was very entertaining. Also that is the best sounding 7.3 I have heard. Usually they sound super lazy in my opinion.
It’s pretty spicy when I turn it up 😉 thanks 👍
dual fuel pumps, big turbo, big injectors. It makes all the difference.
Yea I watched the build and you guys did a lot of work to make it get up and go!
Got my f250 about to start my overland build
Perfect 👍
Minute 30 and 44 second had me puckered!
it was sketchy!
who's idea was this anyway???
Power Wagon owner here too, and I too am jealous. I've always wanted a similarly set Power Stroke Excursion. I saw one a few years ago that had a manual trans swap from an f-250 that would be the cats ass.
I wouldn't want a manual for all of this offroading
I’m lazy! I want that thing to shift itself. I wish it would street itself 😂
the want for a Scursion is real
Buy you must.
