Great selection of trails! These are pretty much the prettiest trails in Moab. Take potash Trail, spend some time on white rim, head up Schaeffer switchbacks, and then come back down Long Canyon. Take Highway 129 to and from this loop. This makes for a really great day of riding. Make sure to get the free day pass for white rim trail before you do this, it can be done the day of. Lockhart basin is essentially an extension of Hurrah pass. Include the optional side route of Lockhart Canyon for a 60 mile two day trip. We did this, and our campground was right in the middle. We have never experienced such solitude in our lives. There was no moon, clouds, wind, lights, people, background hum of a city, glow from a nearby town in the sky, or any sign of human life for the entire night. It was so quiet you could hear your heartbeat. It was exceptionally therapeutic, a special night.
If you get a chance, go to the other side to the Dollhouse (Maze District), it's only a few miles (as the bird flies) from Lockhart Canyon but almost like a different world over there. Thanks for commenting!
That's some epic footage and a great compilation. So much to see and ride in Moab. That stinks about your trip, hope you can get back up there soon. Thanks for your efforts.
The trip cancellation isn't really a big deal, I get the reasons why. It's the new norm for a while unfortunately. I'm running out of old video though.
I saw many videos of that place in the world... but nobody taught as well as you !!... Thank you for traveling by your side on UA-cam. Best regards Medel
Reminds me how great the riding there was. I rented a KTM from a shop in Moab and rode through Canyonlands up to the top of the plateau (sorry, don't recall the name of the road.) The guy showed me an "easy canyon " to come back down on the map and I assumed "easy"! Once I started there was no going back, it was slip and slide down a dry waterfall to the bottom. Super pucker. I think he assumed I had skills! The KTM saved my butt, and the rest of the day was just sightseeing. Tons of fun! Oh, and he said "there's no gas along the way, take this" It was a Prestone jug full of gas in a backpack! I rode the day with a bomb on my back!😄
Chris, That was stupendous! My heart was so touched to see your compilation!!Nothing but the best of the best... so nostalgic and happy that I've had the opportunity to experience ALL those places! I'm know in part, you're the motivation for having seen and ridden these places. Watching your videos years ago inspired me to see them as well. Nothing but awesome memories on those flawless routes! ...however, there was one route you mentioned that had a minor flaw: Route "129" is really Route "128", but it is the only one on Asphalt, but that part's not your fault ;-) Thanks so much!
I can probably fix you up, there's an email address on the about page under business inquiries, shoot me an email and I'll see what I can come up with. The Hey Joe Mine section was recently closed for OHV use.
There's some places going up to TOW that are challenging, my last ride up there a buddy turned back so I didn't get to the cliff that trip. Thanks for watching Eddie
I'm stuck at home bored to tears so this is something I can pass on since most of us are in the same boat. With lots of time it's easy to cherry pick some of my unpublished video :) Glad you enjoyed it VM.
Thanks for the great vid. Your vid ends with "Lockhart basin" which does not seem BB friendly as you state, but is there also a Lockhart Canyon that is part of the easy jeep route out to Chicken Corner? I watched an easy Jeep vid ride yo Chicken Corner and the said they were going thru Lockhart Basin ... wondering if they were confused and were really in Lockhart Canyon?
Yes, that's exactly what happened, on the road out to chicken corners there's a distinct LH turn up a slot canyon that's anything but easy (going that direction) to get to Lockhart Basin which is the next basin beyond the one encompassing chicken corners. You can see it if you pull up a map. There's no "easy" way to get to LB from the north.
I moved to Moab in 1996. This video's list should be a right of passage. If you haven't ridden them then you need to. Don't forget to enjoy the scenery.
I had to watch this again. I'll be up in Telluride on the 790 with a buddy in July and I'm HOPING he wants to do this. Bucket List in steroids. Incredible!!
All those would be great on the 790 (except rosegarden hill) but you can do an out and back on onion creek, well worth the ride. Hope you get to go and have a nice ride Dave.
Very well done. I've done all of those trails too, but on atv instead. That first mile into Lockhart is a doozy some years. Last time I went up it, I had 150 pounds of camping gear on my racks and had to winch up the last part.😄
@@RidefreakTV I forgot about that one! I came into that from the top on a side trip from the Dolores River Overlook. I parked at the top and walked down it about 300 yards and decided not to risk it. It was late afternoon by then, I was running low on fuel, and most importantly, I was alone. I'd like to go back and run it from the bottom with a group so there's hands to help!😄
Wow! Great compilation. Sticking this in my future trips play list. I was thinking Cane Creek was more of a dirt bike ride than a dual sport. Is there an easy out?
Kane Creek is an out and back for most people, the first part where the video is shot is easy graded road then it splits, the left continues on into Kane Canyon and the right takes you up over Hurrah Pass and on to Chicken Corners or into Lockhart Basin. The ride out to Chicken corners is big bike friendly. The rest of Kane Creek is technical smaller bike stuff. If you can see most of those places on a trip to Moab you'd have done well, it's allot of riding between some of the spots in that video. Hey Joe Mine and Rosegarden Hill are the only two places in that vid that aren't BB friendly.
This is the part of Kane Creek thats dirt bike but you could ride the 450 on it. Probably not the Big KTM though: ua-cam.com/video/iZ8XctfenJ4/v-deo.html
RIDEFREAKTV One of these day we should do that ride down by TorC and Caballo lake. I’ve never done that loop. Bought my self a 450exc so now I have a DS bike again.
@@RidefreakTV Thank you for making this video. I’m planning my first ride there this fall. I’m 60 years old with minimal dual sport experience,so this helps to see what is “easier”. I don’t want anything super technical, what would be the best beginner routes?

Thanks Medel, it really is a beautiful place, I tried to capture that.
It's crazy just how many of these I've done in my Xterra 4x4, and now I want to go back and experience them from a dual sport...
Man that was a great job! That's exactly what I wanted to see before I make my first trip out. Thanks for the effort!
Glad you enjoyed it rich! If you can hit some of those trails you'll have a great time.
If scenic trails is what you are after than this is the perfect guide.

STUNNING video. Thanks so much for sharing.
Outstanding video. You’ve inspired me!
Thanks for the comment Ray, glad I could help.
good job! been spending 2 plus weeks in moab every summer, past 20 years, done all those at least 6 times, the red rock views are awsome!
Thanks Joseph, it a small thing that will help all of us who had to recently cancel rides out there.
Always great to see a new post! I guess I need to start posting some of our rides.

Great Video, Moab is in our backyard from western Colorado, but still love seeing great videos of it.
Thanks James, it's some of my favorite riding. This give the folks who had to cancel their trips something to watch while they're home.
Really cool that you saved and are able to compile those old videos!
I always planned to go back and do something with the old video but who knew a pandemic would come along.
Thanks again, as others have said" I needed that!!"
Noting like classic moab to lift the spirits
A couple to add to the list! Keep em coming!!! Thank you! ✌🏼

Awesomeness
thats some beautiful riding. we were planning to hit all of those this coming May. hopefully we still can with everything going on
Thanks, I hope it works out, our upcoming ride there just got cancelled, probably head back in Oct.
It's a beautiful video.. thanks!

Looks great. I'm off to Moab end of March. Do you have a good source of GPS tracks for these routes? Looking to plug them in to Gaia GPS.

This is Awesome. What bike are you riding? I’m 6’3” and weigh 225. Not quiet sure what bike will fit me.
It's a KTM500, that would pull you along pretty good.
Good stuff Chris.

Great video! I've done all of those except Long Canyon- don't even know where that is unless it is sometimes called something else. Tell me more...
google Long canyon Utah, it'll show up, its over near deadhorse state park and goes down to the north side of the river.

Any suggestions on beginner friendly trails for a first timer to Moab?
Seven Mile Rim, Gemini Bridges, SlickRock, Chicken Corners, Whitewash OHV area. Look them up, I've got videos of all those on the channel. Have fun!
those views are insane
Thanks for watching, I tried to capture the beauty of the place.
Great Vid! its HiWay 128
It was a brain fart James, Thanks for the correction.
@@RidefreakTV spent lots of time in that neighbor hood...
We hit a bunch of these in 2018 had to turn around during Lockhart Basin, pretty difficult.

Rose garden Hill, slickrock and Hey Joe Mine.
