It's funny how nothing you say is really a mystery to anybody, and yet, it's very easy to forget or overlook it on your day to day life. I specifically agree with the short interactions with strangers. I've been living in Germany for the past 4 years, and I don't speak German at a level I can really have a lot of these conversations, and it really weighs on me. Last year I went back home for the first time, and having those interactions were great, so when I came back, I started learning German more intensely to be able to do so here.
