- Just a little tune I have been mucking about with over the last 4 or 5 days up here in the Smoky Mountains on a nice little family vacay. Think of it as an addendum to Tom Sawyer....and don’t you fret because class will resume as usual VERY soon kids....love, your pal, Little Tommy
Homeskoolin paypal tip jar is tombukovac@gmail.com
I couldn’t help but think of the great Michael Hedges while listening
Throws those harmonics in at the end and looks straight at the camera like "Yeah, I just did that."
Tom your ideas are so incredibly unique and beautiful. You seriously need to do a solo album.
Damn skippy! I play the kazoo. Ill play for free on that album.
That would be a must have.
yessir
Sounds great Tom. Watching from Scotland with a nice beer, great way to spend a Friday night.
You have been missed !! SO good to see ye!!
Don't worry about us Tom, enjoy the vacay away with your awesome fam !
100% -- we all miss class but vacay is priority #1
You need to make an album Tom!!! Sooooo Good! 😊
Yes an album! I will buy it.
That totally reminds me of some “Aerial Boundaries”-era Michael Hedges. Awesome as always Uncle Larry!
Right on! Also, Ragamuffin from that album has always sounded Rush-informed if not -inspired to me.
Yes absolutely! Dude, that Martin sings! Oh MY!!!!
Ah I knew it was reminding me of something. Love Aerial Boundaries... whole album so beautiful... Tom’s playing on this Martin is just lovely
John Siddique yeah, This reminds me of parts in “Rickover’s Dream.”
Absolutely. With much grace.
Little Tommy Bukovac,
I’m coming at you from back in the Homeskoolin teen volumes. Still playing catch-up. So comforting to see I have at least 40 volumes ahead of me. Keep ‘em coming! I’m a little obsessed with your videos.
Last night I watched you playing I Want You (She’s So Heavy), so this morning, over coffee and toast, before the rest of the household woke up, I listened to Abbey Road from beginning to end (the only way to listen to it). Man, I’m reminded why for twenty years I’ve answered the question of “all time favourite album” without hesitation: Abbey Road. But I haven’t listen to it for years. Been all country music for the last five years.
I wanted my first Homeskoolin comment to be a “thank you”. Thanks for getting me back with my all-time favourite band, thanks for getting me doing things on the guitar I should have tried years ago, and thanks for the videos that I hang out to watch every night here in Australia. You da man.
Nolan
Abbey Road beginning to end is my favorite method also. The songs just flow together. Since I got that album when I was 13 I thought that was how it should be done.
Tom time.
Hang on a second..
You're (Uncle Buk), doing almost exactly what we've all been doing in our garages and basements for decades..and.AND getting paid.
You sir are marvelous being!
Thank you once again!
You're the best guitar player in my simple mind..
might be my favorite one yet☝️
Hey Tom! Just had surgery on Monday. Still recovering.your videos have been a blessing and a treat. Thank you for these videos!!
Jan Jakob thank you so much Jan!! I really appreciate it. Much love!!
I'm finding inspiration in the way you play and discuss music. Thank you.
Hey Tom watching you on AxsTv jam out for volunteer jam Charlie Daniels tribute on this beautiful summer Sunday afternoon Awesome concert.
I'm always stunned to speechlessness listening and watching you play. Thank you!!
Hey Tom. My sincere thanks for taking time to grace us with your pocket and vibe. Has a great Yes/Rush feel with your color added. Perfect end to a shitty week.
Damn after watching one of your recent videos and understanding what was all going on during this time, this tune feels even deeper. Fucking bad ass man, glad guitar is always there for us.
Thanks Tom-I’m off to the liquor store after seeing your traveling libations! Low on Aperol. Teaching my wife guitar after 24 years of no interest. One day she said yes! Lockdown syndrome and fear of the aging brain. I don’t care how she got here-I’m excited. Little does she know that she’ll have some of the finest old guitars to learn on. I put her on a 1930 Kel Kroydon -an off brand Gibson L2 of the day with a small comfortable neck. Very interesting teaching it, with what I know now. She already has some callouses. Wonderful!
Pre-War my wife started playing again about ten years ago. We’ve always had similar tastes in music and that’s part of what drew us together 40 years ago. I now have an awesome jam buddy who is also my wife. I hope it goes this way for you as well.
Change of scenery. Fresh air. Gorgeous guitar sounds...
Thank you Tom, blown away as usual 😜 Every time you play, you remind me where I’m aiming for, where to look within for my love of music, you help me so much to keep on trucking and loving every mile 😍
Enjoy Tom & Thanks for doing a quick one on Vacation.
I could listen all day
Very cool Tom ! ... can just hear Sarah singing some sweet lines to that !
Been spending all day learning this...
What have you learned?
Absolutely gorgeous!! Just stunning. Enjoying this show so much- thank you for sharing all of this.
You look like you are doin' fine! Thanks for posting in the midst of your time out, we've been missing class!
Thanks for the inspiration Uncle Larry!
Very Pretty stuff. I like the Tom Sawyer epilogue theme
Beautiful.
Hey Tom, thanks!
Just a mellow afternoon. Cheers Tom!
Thanks Tom. Sounds great. Enjoy the family vacation.
Spectacular
Have a great time with the Fam. Man it will be good memories. Stay safe.
The music, humor and kindness makes the love flow back and forth. It is a cool and rare opportunity in this short life. Than you, Tom.
Little Tommy,.. very nice! You possess the very thing you talked about in a earlier "HS" Video... "TOUCH"... You got the touch Uncle L !
very nice Tom
Absolutely masterful playing, Mr. Bukovac. Thank you for sharing.
Man, that felt right. cheers
Man I was so afraid you had faded into the mist, as I know you eventually will. That song made me smile so big. Took my boy to see his hero on tour with mine: Andy McKee with Eric Johnson in Salina Kansas. We bogarted backstage at sound check and Eric was nice enough to come say hi to my son. I’m calling this song Salina. Hope you don’t mind.
Your groove and voicings are just so musical. And thanks for the shirt. Wore it at a gig Friday in a park all socially distanced.
Love this guy!
Great tune. Dig it. Thanks
Hey Tom, Nice nice nice 👍
Awesome!!!
Absence makes the heart grow fonder, great song, welcome back. And welcome to my neck of the woods.
This song kicks ass brother
Awesome
Came home later than usual after a birthday party... !!!! And found this! Thanks for thinking of us. We've been thinking of you. Cheers!
very nice ! every time I hear you play I get inspirited to play. Please keep the music flowing !
Hey Tom. As somebody else said I also had surgery a month ago(torn rotator cuff and torn bicep) . Have not been able to play for six weeks. You are a blessing and your videos help to slow the loss of sanity . Im not much of an acoustic player but that guitar sings. I know you have a lot to do with it singing but what make / model is that. Looks like a Martin as best as i can tell. Once shit back to "somewhat normal" I am on the hunt for an acoustic that sounds like that. Thanks for everything.
Ala Tommy Hedges. Thanks for sharing always look forward to this
It all sounds like gold
Gorgeous. We all appreciate the lessons, but thanks for the short clips too. Listening to your playing is good for my ears and I’m grateful for any bit of it you’ll take the time to share.
Oh that was just beautiful!
Very nice, Tommy!
Tom, I took your and BB King's advice and stopped working so hard. Switched my 11-52 strings out to 10-46 and my fingers are grateful!
Was getting a little nervous that "Uncle Larry" had went out on the 50th episode and that was it. So glad when i finally saw this vacation video. You are the new milleniums Dr. Professor. Thanks for Home Schoonin us
Hands of a master player
Hey Tom, one more thing. Watched your vid with the STP opener “Sour Girl”. Wait a minute, the inspiration is kick’in in again. What did I do? Did I Waller in the mire, sinking up to my guitar strap in self loathing and pity? Why Noooooo, Man! I reached over to the edge of my bed, plugged in a little Crate practice amp, ppllluuugged in my trusty Boss RC 300, and commenced to giving my number one fan (my beautiful wife) a personal one on one concert with my brand new Gibson Firebird 1 she just purchased for me. Aaahhhhh the inspiration! Thank you, and take it easy Tom!!
That, Sir, is a thing of beauty. Happy vacation time. Good to get away from the garage, and encouraging to see you have some bottles of inspiration behind you.
Enjoy that vacay brother! Thanks for the update....I was startin to panic ... LOL
Fantastic chords and melody - Fantastic sound in that guitar. Thanks for sharing it with us. Best regards - Jonas
Happy Vaca. Sounds like the making of a great tune. Looks like a nice day in the Smoky's.
Very nice Brother!
Wow! What a wonderful path through music and sensitivity...Still can't complain! Genuine, Unselfish and straight to the point! I think you changed the game Uncle Larry!
Hey Tom-Thank you for making this a great day!
Glad you n the fam are getting some quality R & R, rest and relaxation for a change ; ) Enjoy
Beautiful, man... 👏🖤
Love it Tom, fun voicings and nice melodies!
We missed you Tommy. Great track, love it.
Little Tommy B....so glad to hear you play an acoustic, was just getting ready to post why you don’t ......well done as usual....great tune too....get a melody and put some lyrics too it! Now! Enjoy your vaca, finish the song.......thanks for all your vids....
There's phrasing and then there's speaking and the way you play guitar, it talks to me , It's as seamless as an interesting conversation! I plan to put in the effort to one day be able to do the same but in my own way! Homeskoolin hss been a trip and a pleasure! Thank you for that
I notice something you do that has got me rethinking hammer ons....you hammer on off a 4 fret spread .hammering the low note of the chord with your index finger.....just spent an hour trying things with that approach...slow study I am I've almost always hammered on to a higher note, not a lower one....thanks Tom! Old dog....new trick!
Wow, what a sweet little guitar that is.
Much needed. 🙏🏻
Nice piece....enjoy the woods and the family...that's some beautiful country
Totally random, but was watching the Volunteer Jam XX on tv and said...”Hey...I know that guy!” Lol. Great seeing you play live with all those legends. Nice surprise. Take care Tom.
Beautiful sir....cheers
Delightful right hand!
What a great tone you get on that guitar! Thanks for sharing another great piece of music!
That was very cool. Very creative.
wow, excellant.
We've all been chucking pritt-sticks at the ceiling while the teachers been away, and writing "Corona chair" on the back of the chairs up front, where the teacher's pets sit. Oh, and check your own chair for pins when you get back! Have fun, Unc!
Fabulous just after ten notes I was already under the spell ! Talent and great music taste, you made my day
Best start to the morning I could have asked for!
Been waiting FAR TOO LONG for this Larry! 🤣. I’m hooked 😳
Freakin' awesome Tommy!
Thanks for dropping by , that was great Brother!
Damn son, I missed ya!
a modern day warrior
mean mean skills
today's Tommy Buk-O
in the TN hills
Well done! Little Tommy B may have to incorporate those lyrics.
His guitars are not for rent, but his lessons are heaven-sent, and the knowledge he presents, makes us practice our talents
fishyfishy Hmmm, sounds a little fishy.....😎
Oh yeah! What a great voicing. It's reminiscent of the great 80's acoustic guitar players. Loved it so damned much! A winner!
That old Martin sounds fantastic. 🎶🎶🎶
Sounds like a walk through the Hedges! Great stuff, thanks for sharing, and enjoy your vacay!
Good one. I love chords and melodies up the neck with open strings... been on my "front burner" lately.
Love it, Tom. I'm primarily and acoustic finger-style player--but I'm tryin' on my Strat to get some of what you're layin' down. That piece reminds me of early Preston Reed, lovely work. Hope you're having a great vacation.
Perfect, soulful playing as always. Love this!!
Have an awesome weekend,Tom!
Thank you for this.
Super cool right hand techniques, gonna start practicing those today. Have the best time with the family
Awesome, going next weekend to the smoky mountains.
Made me grab my guitar and solo all over this. It's really inspiring. Thanks Tom!
