Music is not hard, it’s only hard if you’re chasing numbers and trying to please others with your music, if you’re speaking from your heart your music will be the greatest music to the only person it should matter to YOU! Like kayne said: if you like my music that’s cool, you have good taste.
Man I be wanting to quit sometimes too, then I remember that all it takes is one song to change it all.. and I seen it happen to a few producers I know already., so def gotta keep going!! 💯🙏🏽
Being on the internet doesn’t help. I remember when I started i was just experimenting and having fun with it. I started watching tutorials, it honestly started messing with my approach to creating. I’m in my own head about being creative. I’m trying to learn how to have fun with it again.
I always put my music first. But releasing it and making content is where I fall short. I could make music to clear my mind easily but idk about just letting it go like that
Bruh I just made my first beat on Fl Trial 🤣 when I get in my head & compare myself to the greats I wanna quit immediately 💀 then I realize why I started, this shit fun fr 💯
Don’t compare. You’re going to get better it takes years. One person may be more talented than you, but you may have a more unique sound selection than them. For example. Pierre Bourne isn’t really that good of producer to me, but his sound selection and style was unheard of at the time where he started popping that people couldn’t stop but to listen.
Yo I went through this so many times and it still happens here and there. You just gotta grind through the challenges and eventually your song quality is good enough that you won’t be in critical mode all the time and actually enjoy the process
Bro your're onto the right conversation...based on my experience Ive quit music 100 times not because i dont love music but more so based on the politics but I'm still here, however dont depend on music to take care of your daily/monthly/yearly necessities.
Needed this , I’ve been recording myself everyday for 7 years straight averaging 3-5 songs a day (I was and still am obsessed) it’s ruined relationships it’s caused serious distress but the value I receive from my creations in the end and the progress I hear maybe the best feeling I’ve ever had and understand the fun part about it is what you need to not feel burnt out. Go back to styles you haven’t used in a while , make something new , make a cover/ replicate a song , just inject that whimsical freedom back into the craft and imo that’s how we really improve versus just straight grinding all the time . Keep making cool music ✌🏼 wishing good things for anyone reading this
speaking facts as ive gotten a little older im just enjoying making memories and the journey and trying to get better at my passion i just love making music and connecting with other musicians and people in our industry! Just watched your vegas producer event and your la vlog! really starting to dig your channel!
Dude I related to everything you said. The next hit thing so don't give up. My mom told me the same stuff too, and still does even though I have made money from this. Been listening to you for 6 years man. Keep going.
Bro for me its all i have anymore. When i was younger i played a lot of video games but these days i only get that satisfaction out of playing on my DAW. Its almost an obsession now.
Limitations are key (especially for those who suffer from beat block and option paralysis) m! Create guardrails for your creativity to be in. They're like the color palette for a painter!
There are a lot of sacrifices. I swear I spend like 2 hours making a beat and 2 hours mixing. May not even get paid either. To get paid it takes YEARS. Also, when you said not making a beat for a week straight I felt that.
I think for me, I tend to make melodies in order to create a type of therapeutical session with a session and if that session goes well, I’ll keep going. I’ll save the loop and then keep going with that loop so music is more like therapy for me I guess.
a lot of good points,i'm also on the verge of quitting because i just don't see myself going anywhere with this and i haven't really improved in a year now, thank you for this motivation.
i love this video tho, thanks for the message man, you are a gem talking for something that is actually happening, type beats are way harder to get views now, only producers who keep that consistency get actually views, but when you make some break because of some life issues / or lost someone, they don't really care about, you start from zero again, music is our passion, why we have to endure all this much 😁 find the perfect style that is easy for y'all and farm like you are on a RPG we can do it we don't really know when life is ending at all, just live all day the best you can and with the greatest smile
This vid is so good for producers that r just starting out. We just gotta remember that it takes time to be great. We look at out favorite producers and we wanna be at that level instantly but u gotta remember that none of these producers got so good in a short amount of time u gotta keep working on ur craft and keep creating cuz we only see the fye sh that ppl put it out but with that fye sh comes some wack sh too and that comes with creating in general
bro, i'm just about to head in to a session, it's really crazy how you're not just there on some days....making pop music was harder than i thought... or maybe it's just the block.
0:05 although I’m young ass hell making beats I still feel like I ain’t going no where with this, but I make beats every few days but is still don’t feel like I’m going anywhere
Ant, Thanks for this, man! 😃❤️ I am working on the most experimental mixtape I’ve ever done (and this is experimental Mixtape #4), and when I tell you this thing soundin’ different, I mean it even moves different! I’m so excited for it, and I haven’t been this excited about a project in 4 years. This is Evan in His most Producer-heavy as an artist, and the music proves it, I think! I’ve been feeling discouraged about the drums on Track 4 not hitting, and you just gave me that final push I needed to get back into this thing I love so much! So yeah, Thanks, man! I’m glad you on here sharing this with us!
bro if I could heart this A MILLION TIMES I would. Thank you for the video, I just released my first song today and it took me 22 years to get to this point. Finally told myself its time to see what I got. Appriecatie the message. Yair - It's A Move (if you interested lol)
Its amazing to see your growth and your transition to reaching and mentoring the people...from the time I heard your producer grind interview until now is remarkable, keep going
Thanks for the motivation brodie! I needed that omg. Just the act of making music helps me figure out what path I wanna carve for myself. Thanks again for the message too true 🔥
Needed this , started a year ago 261 beats up & only 75 subscribers. But a nigga only 23 years old . I got nun but time . Ima upload a beat everyday for the next 20+ years MINIMUM & if I do that I find it fkn humanly IMPOSSIBLE to never pop off in sum way ™️💯.
I was trying to rap and I felt like "damn this is a waste of my time." Nothing sounded right. Then I quit for like half a year cause I thought "man you have to put all your energy into your career, wasting time with this music shit." I immediately got depressed as hell until one day I told myself, "stop trying to make a hit song and start trying to make a great song." I got back in the booth, got my singing voice back, and all my depression, all my bitterness disappeared instantly. Now I'm making the best stuff I've ever made with half the effort. Point is, once you find your art you can't ever let it go. Cause you'll always feel like you're missing a part of your soul until you start back.
i agree keep up the work but i also think if you're releasing something to meet a certain number, you're focusing on the wrong thing. like making videos, its not the number of videos that count, its the quality and message of the video that connects with the audience. when i find a beat, i decide whether or not to buy it based on how well my voice sounds on it. if i throw on my autotune and vocal preset, and it dont sound good in your beat, i keep searching until i find one
100% facts. I made beats for 20 years, starting with Reason 2.0, Cool Edit Pro, and a SP-303, lived in LA for 10 years, was on food stamps, broke, before making any money at all from music. I’ve wanted to quit countless times. Don’t give up, you’re on the one yard line! The ones that make it are the ones that do whatever it takes until they make it, and prepare for the opportunities ahead. I did that, now 24 years after starting, I’ve made around 200 custom songs for Rihanna’s brands and others. Love this content Ant, LFG 🔥🙌🏼
I wanna quit everyday, I hate this shit 90 % of the time but I knock out my beats daily anyways just to get to that 1 beat that I have on repeat all day makes it worth it.

Facts this how i'm feeling to you right cuh it's crazy now. Hip-hop has changed so much when i was growing up.

sometimes i don’t even feel like opening up my laptop cause it be too mentally tiring fr
Yo I went through this so many times and it still happens here and there. You just gotta grind through the challenges and eventually your song quality is good enough that you won’t be in critical mode all the time and actually enjoy the process

Trying new genres when everything is feeling same-y always gets me excited about music again

Of course. Thank you for watching! We're all human at the end of the day. You will have days like that!
There are a lot of sacrifices. I swear I spend like 2 hours making a beat and 2 hours mixing. May not even get paid either. To get paid it takes YEARS. Also, when you said not making a beat for a week straight I felt that.

Great video.
100% facts. I made beats for 20 years, starting with Reason 2.0, Cool Edit Pro, and a SP-303, lived in LA for 10 years, was on food stamps, broke, before making any money at all from music. I’ve wanted to quit countless times. Don’t give up, you’re on the one yard line!
