I work at Sweetwater! And a sax player as well! Those rooms are super fun to use, I use my tenor in there a lot. Huge fan as well!

Cool. For the medium I imagine standing on a stage in an empty airplane hanger. Medium was enough, large seemed a bit over the top but would be fun to experience.

This is really cool. I live here is Fort Wayne, and go to Sweetwater every week for my saxophone lesson. I have been taking lessons there for the past three and a half years. So far it has been a really fun experience. I had an opportunity to check out the reverb room before Christmas. I was looking at a Yamaha Pro Soprano saxophone that they had on display and I was asking questions about the horn. The salesman ask me if I wanted to try to play the Soprano. He set me up with a reed and a legature and let me try out the Soprano sax in the reverb room. Sweetwater is a super cool place to visit.

Sounds somewhat like some of the cruise ship areas that SirValorSax used to try out different set ups. I love it. Can't wait to get up there. I am already discussing with Drake a specific sound that I am currently chasing, and he is amazingly knowledgeable and skilled. So happy to be a Sweetwater customer for several years, and now it has a band and orchestra department.

I have been there and played in the demo rooms too. Such an incredible store and experience! Sweetwater is TOP NOTCH! I am a novice player so hearing my own "echo" literally moved me to tears. It was powerful for this old gal just getting back into playing again after 30 years! Luckily my boyfriend lives in Fort Wayne so we visit Sweetwater often

The high school I went to had a practice room with a system similar to this, it was really nice to play into something that wasn't dead space.

    Great video!
I use a pedal with a little bit of hall in the case that the acoustic of the place are dry or inexistent. But i suppose this speciall chamber sounds far better.
    Thanks and congrats Jay!

"It is top secret, of course"; why? Anyway here is my secret:
I adapted my rehearsal room (3x4 m) to create an acoustically similar environment. In the heavily damped room I mounted small active speakers in the 4 corners close to the ceiling. In the middle of the ceiling is an omni directional microphone connected via a microphone amplifier to the input of a Yahama DSP1, a digital sound processor. The four speakers are connected to the outputs of the sound processor. The DSP1 is still for sale on ebay but there are also successors. With this sound processor it is possible to choose from many acoustical simulated rooms; several halls, chamber, jazz club, stadium etc, much more than just small, medium and large. Moreover a lot of parameters can be altered e.g. early reflections, liveness, initial delay….. In this way it is possible to create a very satisfying natural sounding acoustical environment. From intimate to spacious and everything in between.

I keep wondering if, in 20 years, we're going to look back at Fort Wayne as the starting point for a huge prog rock or jazz scene, based on all the talented musicians working day jobs at Sweetwater and talking to each other about music all day long (and acquiring pro gear at employee discount levels while they're at it)!
