WE MADE IT! ... and I Didn't Expect to FEEL THIS WAY

- Camino De Santiago E16: Nikki and I hiked from Porto Portugal all the way to Santiago Spain. Yes, on our own two feet. Well, technically our own four feet. Which using some basic math of the average number of human strides per mile times the distance of our walking between those two countries … and yep … almost half a million steps have been taken.
WAIT! … there’s two of us, which means doubling that. So between Nikki and I we walked …. HOLY @^%$ that’s a lot of freaking footprints.
But before we get to that glorious moment when that last step was taken … you can’t understand the ending until you understand the journey. So let’s start there … almost a month ago.
IN THE BEGINNING …
One day, as we were wrapping up our Baja adventure, it struck us that we didn’t yet know where we were going to go next.
“What do you want to do?”, I asked.
“I don’t know, how about you?”, she replied.
Crickets were heard.
And then on a whim we just decided to put our bus "The Huckleberry" into storage, fly ourselves across the ocean to Portugal, and then walk for a month (or so) until we arrived at a certain cathedral in Spain.
And yea, it pretty much went exactly like that. LOL!
These are the diaries of our Camino de Santiago pilgrimage through the Portuguese Way. (Caminho Português / Camino Portugués). From Porto Portugal to Santiago de Compostela in the Spring of 2024.

Hi, I'm Rick and I live in a bus.
Yup, I'm one of "them". My passion is exploring things just outside of the proverbial box. Travel, adventure, wonder, and all that. (Yea, I'm a little bit ADHD and I kinda need constant stimulation).
But the problem is that I'm also a non-planner. I tend to wing things and just hope for the best. Which actually sometimes even happens.
OK, maybe not as often as I want. 😇
So come join me as I point our beloved bus "The Huckleberry" in random directions, searching for the unfindable. I guarantee you that even when ... er, I mean "if" ... we fail, it will still be a grand ole time.

This has been one of the most relatable Camino series I have seen. Thanks Rick.
The fact that you just finished and said you would do it again, is perfect. Fantastic video. Congratulations Rick and Nikki!
Thanks Rick for taking us along on our journey!
Congratulations! The walk is over, the Camino continues. Buen Camino!
Thank you so much, I have really enjoyed your journey, the good, the bad and the ugly. Congratulations.
Great video

I've only just found your channel, and have to say I've enjoyed it immensely. Huge congratulations to you both on making it to Santiago, it's an amazing achievement, you can be very proud of yourselves. Hope to see more of you in the very near future.
Great job, Rick ☺
Well done! Thank you for sharing your journey, I appreciate it…. Be Proud of yourself..
Congratulations. You both are an inspiration to all of us. The other day I had to walk for about an hour and I was in pain for 2 days ( I am 64 with no visible physical impairments). I can´t imagine doing that for days and days and days. Be proud of yourselves.
We are, and thanks. We left on May 20th and today is June 17th. So many days, all blurred together. It was fun to make trhis video just to remember.
Thank you Rick. Enjoyed your videos. First Camino Portugase end of Sept.
congratulations 🎉
You made it! What an amazing accomplishment! You walked through some incredibly beautiful places. Buon Camino!
Thank you for sharing your journey - the reason you have for doing the Camino resonates with me. I dream of walking a Camino but money and ability are a concern. You've explained so much and your videos have been informative and uplifting to watch. My favourite moment was Nikki's reaction when she realized you'd shaved off your beard loool... I've enjoyed 'walking' this Camino with you. be well, both of you.
Thank you for being with us.
Thank you Rick for sharing your Camino. So happy you all made it. Also, thank you for being so honest and transparent. I retire next year and what I get for my retirement is all I’ll have for an income. I’m planning and hoping to do the Portuguese Camino next year. I was unsure financially if I could do it, but your video today gave me the encouragement I needed. Thank you 🌸
Congratulations! Well done. I'm glad everything worked out. And - Wow. The guy in yellow with the big pole that you met in the square is Nick from the "Nick Living Life" YT Channel. He's a real hoot. LOL. How's that for a coincidence, two people I have been following actually and randomly meeting in the square. He walked up from Madrid. I look forward to your further adventures. Cheers! and Buen Camino!
Congratulations to you both
Congratulations on getting there and taking us on the trip with you. I am planning my first for late next spring into early summer. I have appreciated you journey.

Congratulations! I’ve enjoyed your journey as you passed thru some towns I did in March. It brought back wonderful memories. Some difficult days but the Camino did provide in so many ways.
And Nick Living Life completed it as well. Yayyyy to you both
We will miss it deeply.
Congratulations!🎉 Isn’t it crazy how you want to do it again? The Camino becomes a part of you. Really enjoyed your videos. All the best to you both!
It does indeed. We just got back from dinner and all I can think about is getting and walking tomorrow ... which isn't going to happen. :-/
🐝thanks for the great video🌻 Thanks for the amazing journey !!!
Throughly enjoyed your Camino. You are funny, frank, forthright and friendly - a personality that makes your vlogs stand out. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Downunder
Why thank you!
Rick, I saw you last in Baja, now doing El Camino, quite a change, and with new look! Hope to follow with steps one of these days.
Every day is a new adventure, right? And assuming you meant "hair" when you said new look. LOL! Even as we speak, yet another version of hair is underway. LOL!
Well done! Amazing feet! Feet accompli!! Congratulations. You can put your feat up now?!
Way ahead of you ... they are up and well raised.
