Hey Mike who is the NJ daredevil of exploring in a class by himself :) Here is a video that shows how the coal dumper worked: ua-cam.com/video/XLbqnw2bKeI/v-deo.html
Hey Don, that's an awesome video, thanks for sharing it. I struggle realizing I am a dad and need to chill with some of my other "ideas" . I really wanted to climb some of it . Thanks for the link and kind words 🏕️
Two things. The boat named Seahorse is a Seascout boat. I'm a leader on it. Also, Meow Man is a maritime legend. Look up the name. Famous from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico. That tag is all over.
Terrific video! It is amazing to see such wildlife in a an industrial area like this. It looks like that flotilla is not directly accessible from land. And that sunken ship looks like a ferry. I've explored the Rossville Cemetery what I can see of the ship graveyard across the Kill on the Staten Island side. It is incredible how many piers there used to be. Now they all look like hazards to navigation.
@@slicedbread9003 hi there sliced 🍞, great name . I’m glad you liked the video , yes I saw a few small boats/kayaks around I guess for the gettin back from boat to boat and back to land
I know this is an older Video, but I work for a Structural Steel fabricator in NJ, and we are currently tasked with building a new Pavilion on the Pier in Carteret. The building I'm drafting looks like it's a covered outdoor place to eat and sit. There is development happening in the waterways out there.
Hey there! I appreciate you noticing that, it takes more work when you're "Solo" . My wife is going to come out during an adventure soon. i wore her down!
Cool video, I’m glad UA-cam suggested it to me. I’ve done some work for Conrail in that yard but never got the chance to make it back there to look around. I work near the site of the Pier 18 coal dock in Port Richmond, part of which just collapsed into the Delaware river, and I’ve always been obsessed with the ancient technology.
Welcome aboard! Im glad you found the channel. im looking at pier 18 on google maps, maybe one day i'll paddle around that area, Petty island looks interesting.
Great video I watched it twice! You’ve inspired me to purchase a kayak and get out on the waters. I’m in Morris County so I’m pretty close to most of the stops you make. Thanks for doing what you do.
this spot isnt go far away from me gotta check it out. side not those tanks across the authur kill in rossville are worth checking out as well. been some work on the land in recent time in attempts to take the tanks down but some stuff still remains.
Fun fact, the Osprey are cherished here in nj. We put nests up all over or places for them to nest all along the coast. You can enjoy them and many other birds in the meadowlands in the marshes and walk ways down in lyndhurst. Cool vid. I’m up in lake hopatcong.
Hi, i love Hearing Osprey on the rivers here in NJ. One time on the Raritan river i saw an osprey swoop down and catch a fish. it was awesome! I have to get back on the Hackensack river and check it out soon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
@@OutDehExplorer my mother retired from the meadowlands commission. She used to do pontoon boat tours on the Hackensack. I am not sure if they still do them. They used to have an event River day or something too. I moved to west nj but I used to live in lyndhurst and go on the marsh walks all the time. It was minutes from my house and a must for me to have that nature escape living in what I call a war zone. Lol. Glad to hear you get out to enjoy the area. There’s so many beautiful birds that pass through. Years ago we had a snowy owl come through. What a beauty.

Hey I'm famous, happy that tip worked out for you. I spent a summer in a fire resistant jumpsuit, fall protection harness and a life preserver running heat trace on the docks for kinder Morgan. Trying to stay out of that water. What a cool video. What happened to the news? Look at photos from the 20s of newspapers, how big the papers were. The cost of paper went up. When the space changed the editors changed the way the news was reported. Stories had less context. TV news less context. Cable 24 hour news cycle even less. Nj had hundreds of Newspapers, independently owned local news, they were bought by conglomerates Singleton, Gannet, Goodson. Home news, daily record Asbury Park press, one owner. Now the government sidesteps the free press that was already gutted. Police department and town Facebook pages. In America the Government is now the press. It's propaganda. The old format was , news, when, where, who, A opinion page clearly marked, a Editorial page clearly marked. Unchecked capitalism destroyed the free press. Fear sells soap, fear makes people crave politics that make them feel safe. People with no understanding of basic civics destroyed the free press. Hey you asked . Lol. The above was an opinion and not necessarily the opinion of the publisher of this video.
Richard, what an amazing articulation, thank you for your thoughts here, you never know when it may enlighten another , or at least get them to question things more
Since nobody has mentioned it, the large barges were owned by Bouchard Transportation. A Bouchard unit had an explosion and two men were killed in Texas. The lawyers had their day and the company no longer exists. One of the boats looks like an old Coast Guard 82 foot cutter.
This is probably my favorite video you have made to date . Wow that was some padding. You're absolutely right also , kids don't try this at home . Lol Positive Vibes Always 💯🙏❤🇺🇸
Hi Amy, that is so sweet of you to say. I drove my family crazy with questions about this video /editing. I’m so glad you like it . Have a great weekend . Thank you !
I've been there! Funny story, my friend and I were walking around and he didn't pay attention to where he was walking and hit his head on some rusty corrugated steel that was hanging too low. Took a triangle slice off the top of his head. Had to go to the ER for it. This was during COVID so it was not fun at all haha. Hes doing good now though, I bought him a hat to wear after that.
The red ,white and blue tug with the generator running is theLiz Vinik, formally "Maryland" Kirby. You can see the lights are on. All of the tugs belong to Vinik Marine....yeah, I googled it😆

The goal is to get up there at some point :)
