  • The 100% sweep gets its name from Eddie Bravo in the 10th Planet System as he says that if the sweep is performed correctly it's going to work one hundred per cent of the time. In this breakdown, we look at the technique required to make that happen and how you can chain the 100% sweep together with other front headlock attacks such as the cow catcher and the crucifix neck crank.
    You can find Eddie Bravo attempting to use it on Royrler Gracie in both their match ADCC and the rematch at Metamoris but in both cases, Royler was able to slip out due to flexible shoulders. But it has been a staple in the 10th Planet system with one of Eddie's black belts, Erwann Marshall, even earning the nickname "100%" due to his success with it.
    Although if you do plan on using it the keys are really to monitor the position of the opponent's free arm and hooking one of their legs to control as this will determine what positions of control you can move to, such as the back of the truck, after you land the sweep.

    If you go for the 100% and switch from a gable grip to a full RNC style grip and grip the opponents arm with the 'non-choking' arm you get to the 200%, shown at 2:05. I have found this an extremely effective grip for getting to the back. Teach Me Grappling has a good video on using this grip.

      Yep Ive seen that, didnt want to go to deep into that side of things and was surprised to see Eddie using it already in old footage.

    0:34 ”As demonstrated by early Judo practitioners" can be said about so many grappling techniques. One wonders about the stuff that didn't get recorded in those early days when cameras were a rarity.

    Eddie does a slight variation _ the 200 % _ controls the shoulder like a rear naked show. Can't find a video on it anymore ...

    Hi Sonny, Thanks heaps for the video! I have been following your content recently and really enjoying it.
    I wanted to please ask if the 100% Sweep hold can be an effective takedown method like used in the MMA fight with two men you showed in minute 3:30? If you have videos to demonstrate that as I couldn't find any.

      Thank you! No idea if I mentioned it before, but over the weekend I started working on a cradle video and am pretty sure I've made the largest supercut of cradles in MMA and grappling of anyone in the world!

    This is a catch wrestling sweep as well. Neil Melanson calls it the Irish Collar i believe

    • @SonnyBrown
      @SonnyBrown  2 роки тому

      That wouldnt surprise me, altough I think the Irish collar is a different option from guard. But I will check.
