After watching this review, I went to Aldi and got myself this lasagne, it was really good, very cheesy. And better still, it had a 75% off sticker on, so I got it for just 68p. Thanks for the review
I'll tell you what mate!... Just on their looks alone... Once they all came out of the oven... I could tell that the Aldi version was going to be banging Lasagne... It was the cheapest... With the most Beef content... And with the most Pasta Sheets... It also looked a much darker (Red Leicester) type of orange colour... And looked very Cheesy too... The Aldi version actually looked like the homemade Lasagne we had growing up as kids... But these versions were obviously on a smaller scale to the larger ones our family made... I'm definitely going to give this Aldi Lasagne a try Gaz... Sadly the most expensive Asda version came in last place... Which was surprising for me to say the least... I loved this triple Lasagne shootout buddy... Keep up the good work Gaz... Cheers mate. 🍺
I buy the 1kg Beef Lasagne from Aldi. Just gone up to £2.99 from £2.79 but still a bargain for 1kg of Lasagne. My tip is cook it a little longer than stated, and most importantly, let it rest before you enjoy it. They're very tasty! All the best to you and your family Gareth, i hope you're all spot on!
@@jackcass5584 Yeah, they're very good Jack, although i have been known to eat the whole thing, but with no chips and garlic bread.. All the best to you mate.
Well, there you go,cheapest trumps dearest, although all are tasty in their own right.nice review Gareth,I will get some brewdogs in for the next live foodie get together 👍
Hi Gareth me again. I have not tried the Aldi one but I will. I have had the M&S one and it is gorgeous. However M&S do a buy three for £7 deal and that works out at £2.33 per meal and you get three different meals if you wish. Another great video thank you.
I'm so glad you did these comparisons. I tried the Aldi lasagne for the first time a few weeks ago and never looked back. Loads of flavour and you can really taste the wine in the sauce. I buy the two portion sized pack for hubs and I which works out a bit cheaper per portion. Good old Aldi.
The M&S pasta ready meals are always 3 for £7 quid. The lasagne you had there, the chicken arribbiata and the Tuscan sausage penne are all good choices.
The Aldi looked the best of all. Gorgeous colour. But it's always nice to have different ones too as I like different flavours and textures. Food never gets boring that way
I very much enjoyed this video! I am a Pastafarian and baked lasagna is food for the gods. Bechamel is a magical sauce. What I would do with the M & S and the Aldi is put some of each on a plate and mix them together. I think that combination would take the gold medal. I watched a few of your beer comparison videos and I love the name you gave the channel. Very creative! Your videos are addictive. They are genuine and fun to watch. Keep up the good work!
We always buy the Aldi Gastro lasagnes as they are absolutely the best!. You should try the fish pie in their Gastro range as well; I'm not a fish pie lover but hubbie thought it was amazing. Thanks Gareth and spot on with your verdict!
G'day Gareth. A nice review of the 3 fresh Lasagnas. The Aldi did look the best in appearance, but also a little dry compared to the other two. All 3 are good value and competitive in quality and portion size. I can think of at least 10 fresh and frozen lasagna brands and portion sizes we have. Too much choice I say. My favourite is the "On The Menu Vegetable Lasagna"... It's very lite and tasty. Great value for a light meal with a side of salad and garlic bread. I hope your good lady and the girls enjoyed the review's leftovers. Cheers 👍😀🤤🇦🇺
All 3 looked good , I was a big fan of M&S food when I used to live in the UK . Way better than the other stores at the time , but it was 20 years ago . Another good honest review .
The other supermarkets have caught upto m&s. But m&s still produce some very good and interesting stuff. M&S in recent years have flipped from selling mostly clothes and a little bit of food to selling mostly food and either a little bit of clothes or no clothes. I've noticed they often close traditional m&s stores and open up food only stores with proper parking. The old m&s stores were often high street stores that didn't have car parks.
Oi oi Gaz! I love Lasagne and I do try to make my own. I've got a Dolmio Lasagne tray and it makes 8 sensible portions or 6 hungry portions or 4 MAN portions lol but it is a right FAFF and I gotta be in the mood so I tend to buy them sometimes lol. I get the big Aldi one. For the price and sheer size of it you can't beat it. Loads of flavor and I tear up a mozzarella ball on the top, bit of fresh basil and WALLOP! Lol All the best mate😇👍
Love Lasagne so do the kids, we try to look for the sugar free one's as with me and the diabetes 😃 chips and salad and coleslaw we have with our's. Love the fact that you try so much different foods Gareth it helps make dinner options for us during the week 😆. And congratulations on 22.2K foodies 👍👍
Your reviews are always great and you make them entertaining and interesting and have a bit of a laugh too. I rarely buy ready meals these days, as I overdosed on them when working years of night shifts. These do look nice for such a low price and must be so much better than the lasagne I ordered at a Green King pub/hotel a few days ago. It was about the same portion size, but strangely seemed to just taste of tomato and meat with bits of gristle for good measure and at £10 rather expensive. Thank the Lord for the garlic bread that came with it (at no extra charge). I rectified the lack of cheese with 4 pints of Thatchers Cheddar Valley.
Hi, Gareth, another great review. Normally you would bet your life on the M+S one coming out on top for high quality but it looks as if the Aldi one has just shaded it. All looked brill to be fair. Keep up the good work.
I’m amazed that Asda was the most expensive! The only one that’s browned well is the Aldi one, but that was browner to start with! You’ve got me wanting a lasagna now, and it’s 4:20 am. By the way, I answered your question about work, which was on the big daddy cheeseburger video, but I don’t think you got a notification! I’m retired, and have a weird sleeping pattern, one night awake (though I now and again do sleep that night as well) and one night sleeping 🙄 🤪
@@BaldFoodieGuy please don’t apologise lovely man, you can’t get around to everything and I don’t get notifications when someone replies to me, only the first reply from my comment, it makes us look rude, but it’s not our fault, it’s the fault of UA-cam! Out of interest I looked into that. The one Gareth bought was the only one they do the same size as the other two. They do an "our best ever" version but it's twice the size. He could have bought that one and just halved the price. But you'd expect your standard m&s food especially when it's more expensive than aldis luxury version to still be top quality.
@@Matt19matt19 Exactly this... And it wouldn't make sense for him to spend extra on buying the bigger one... He's just showing folks what the best value they can get with comparing the same sizes and same products but from different supermarkets
Just to put this into context, this means that Gareth's winner, the Aldi Lasagne at £2.69 per 400gm, works out at £6.73 per kilo, compared with Charlie Bigham's Lasagne costing £5.00 for 355gm, equivalent to £14.08 per kilo. Putting this another way, Charlie Bigham's product is well over TWICE as expensive! It certainly excludes itself from inclusion in this comparison survey and perhaps Gareth should introduce a "name and shame" feature where seemingly over-priced examples, as seems to be the case here, merit it.
It's like Sainsbury's and Waitrose brands; you pay extra for the name. This is why Aldi and Lidl have shaken the UK supermarket sector hard. I am not snobby about where I buy. If someone's product is better than others I will buy it.
I remember buying the Asda one for 20p when it was reduced. Wasn't impressed, well it was good for 20p but not full price. Not watched the video yet but I always like to guess which will win. Guessing Aldi. Ive had a luxury one from Iceland and that was good.

Hi mate, Don't know how i missed this one from a year ago. I love Aldi Lasagne. It's so substantial. Yes prices are up now but it's the best shop bought Lasagne for me. Their Gastro range is top notch, price aside as we all know that's another issue at the minute. Just a note have you tried their Village Bakery Italian Sub Rolls 4 pack ?. They are unbelievable. I don't buy Bread now for work lunches as a result. Please try them you won't be disappointed. Stevie in Fife.
Yes their amazing. Make up a filling you like for work that you like and you won't need anything else like crisps choc bars etc. Their so good. I like ham tomato coleslaw and spinach, all from Aldi, It's so filling and healthy too. Stevie.@@BaldFoodieGuy
As always Gareth thanks for your excellent review. Can I suggest that you also review the B&M "Carlo Condeli" Beef Lasagne which is 1KG and only costs £3.00, and which is of good quality and would feed a family of 3 or 4 and does not feel like a compromise in quality next to the other main supermarket lasagne's. I know you are always looking for Quality and Value for your foodie fans and I think you could find it in the Carlo Condeli lasagne, pal.
Great review Gareth. I must admit the Aldi one the most appetising, Lovely colour and more layers of pasta . Also I love food from M&S so I think I will definitely need to try them both . Thanks buddy 👍
Aldi one looked great, but I find that a lot with Aldi - they look the part but often lacking something. Glad you liked this one. I usually pick the M&S one up on their 3 for £7 deal which you really can't beat.
Hi Gareth hope all’s well. Another great video review again there. Yeah I’m in agreement with you, and it looks nicer too. It’s true what they say that we eat with our eyes (strictly speaking that’s a lie because we eat with our teeth) 😂 😂 Catch ya next time. Take care and stay safe 😘 xxx

Great review and my daughter works for M & S and we had that lasagna the other night was the family size was delicious but im a bit biased lol as we get to try lots of their food as she gets a good discount but i love Aldi food as well and good quality at a good price 😀
I should comment much more than I do, buddy, largely as I throughly enjoy all of your presentations. In view of the fact that I am going to chuck an Aldi lasagne down my gullet tonight, I was rather cheered to listen to your educated, culinary comments, hey ho, Bon appetite, and all that. Keep on doing what you are doing, great to watch, always. 👍
Hi Gareth they all looked lovely I love Lasagna I had a Charlie Bingham's lasagna Last night. It was very expensive over 8 pounds from Waitrose but worth every single penny it was gorgeous!
The Aldi looked the most appetising. I haven't eaten lasagne for years, but maybe it's time. I will choose the Aldi one if available. My local Aldi store has had quite a few gaps on the shelves in recent weeks.
In my opinion the aldi one wins on looks alone and with the cheese on the top damn yeh second is the asda one and M+S is third but that just my opinion I like it when the pasta goes crispy on the top yummy cracking video as usual keep up the good work from joff the trucker
I had aldi lasagna for tea today, wow it packs a punch! I make an excellent lasagna but sometimes I just want something quick and this was so tasty!!!!❤
You could make a point about not being able to read the packet the amount of time it takes in oven or micro made meals at least high lite the times for people who can't see properly I am struggling to read the time it takes to cook
It is a bit weird that Italian peasant food costs so much! I live on the border with Italy, if you want budget food that's the place to be. Pasta is a staple but so are the cheap cuts of meat, like liver, rabbit etc. A popular thing is a bag of chopped up veg for minestrone.

I had the Aldi one last week, it was great and some value, also marks do a more premium one which is nice but the cost goes up
Love a good ladagne ad wrll asthe cottage pie.
Only had the asda one and they were lovely, surprised the m&s didnt win the way people rave about there food. Dont ho to aldi often as they always haveca que. May have to make an effort and try there lasaggne.
Great video gareth.
Thumbs up to you mate 👍👍👍👍
cheers Adrian. m&s is the one i ate because of the bechemal sauce i liked it. I wasnt keen on the herb flavour of the Asda but i did enjoy the cheese flavour of the Aldi one.
Great vid as always baldy happy friday to all enjoy the weekend
Thanks! You too!
They all look nice ,but the asda is expensive really, but they all look delicious Gareth ,glad finished work up early all week 4.45 am for work ,it's beer o clock time 😀,have a good weekend Gareth and foodies
You to mate 😋👌👌🍻
Happy Friday! I reckon you’ve picked the best lasagnes to try there. 👍.
They are! have a good weekend.
Aldi's did look the best, had the most beef and 4 layers of pasta.
However, homemade wins every time, and is even better the next day
Great review ☺ 👍
I totally agree!
It's sold on weight so more pasta means less sauce, probably why its cheaper as past will be cheaper than the meat sauce.
Good review as always. How about a popular sauce comparison.
Great suggestion! ive done brown.
Another good review 👌🏻love the comparison vids 👍Would you consider doing own brand lemonades ?
Cheers
Hi mate,
Don't know how i missed this one from a year ago.
I've not tried them pal, any good?
Yes their amazing. Make up a filling you like for work that you like and you won't need anything else like crisps choc bars etc. Their so good. I like ham tomato coleslaw and spinach, all from Aldi, It's so filling and healthy too.
Stevie.@@BaldFoodieGuy
Great video, really enjoying your videos mate.
Cheers mate 👍👍
As always Gareth thanks for your excellent review. Can I suggest that you also review the B&M "Carlo Condeli" Beef Lasagne which is 1KG and only costs £3.00, and which is of good quality and would feed a family of 3 or 4 and does not feel like a compromise in quality next to the other main supermarket lasagne's. I know you are always looking for Quality and Value for your foodie fans and I think you could find it in the Carlo Condeli lasagne, pal.
cheers John, good shout. 👍
Brilliant review as always ! Have you tried icelands frozen one that costs £1 i personally like those and for the money they are decent
ive got the frozen luxury one
I’ve not tried that I will give it a go
Great review Gareth. I must admit the Aldi one the most appetising, Lovely colour and more layers of pasta . Also I love food from M&S so I think I will definitely need to try them both . Thanks buddy 👍
Totally agree
I usually add extra cheese to cover the pasta, great review, my mouth was watering 😁👍
That's a good idea!
Absolutely brilliant video thank you for giving your views. Keep up the good work. 😘
Cheers Doris you're welcome
They all look amazing!! I’m hungry now lol. Great review as always 👍🏻😘

Lasagne's are bloody lovely , great review Gareth and Happy Friday 👍
cheers Gaz
I would of said the aldi as well I will have to try one thanks for showing your video I subscribed the other day.
cheers Sally thanks for the sub. Have a good weekend. 👍
Aldi one looked great, but I find that a lot with Aldi - they look the part but often lacking something. Glad you liked this one.
I usually pick the M&S one up on their 3 for £7 deal which you really can't beat.
So good! cheers
Yes the bechamel sauce is divine ,
Can you add Iceland to the ones you try. Love your content.
ive got the luxury frozen one in my freezer
Hi Gareth hope all’s well. Another great video review again there. Yeah I’m in agreement with you, and it looks nicer too. It’s true what they say that we eat with our eyes (strictly speaking that’s a lie because we eat with our teeth) 😂 😂
Catch ya next time. Take care and stay safe 😘 xxx
haha cheers Joanne yes im glad i got good teeth lol x
Wife often get me m&s meals , I like the liver dinner one they do, I've had the beef one from there really enjoyed it, brown sauce and beetroot with it as i often do with that type of meal, great video
cheers Lenny.
Have you tried the Iceland luxury lasagne? Its really good
We don't have an Aldi nearby, but we often have the M&S lasagna, and the whole family looks forward to it. It's delicious!
It's so good!
They all look delicious! I've had the M&S one before, really tasty. I will have to try the Aldi version. Great video!
cheers, yes lovely isnt it. M&S is a step up on the other supermarkets
@@BaldFoodieGuy you should try their actual luxury m&s lasagna. Absolutely delicious, albeit very rich.
@@mclovin6039 I've done it mate done all of them. Look in my luxury playlist.
@@BaldFoodieGuy good lad 👍🏼😂
Hi mate hope your doing OK great vid as always. my favorite Lasagna's Is the Gino range that was at Iceland but no more his lasgna was a beautiful mama mia its a spicy meataball lol
Thanks for the info cheers.
Great review and my daughter works for M & S and we had that lasagna the other night was the family size was delicious but im a bit biased lol as we get to try lots of their food as she gets a good discount but i love Aldi food as well and good quality at a good price 😀
cheers Sharon thanks 😊
I should comment much more than I do, buddy, largely as I throughly enjoy all of your presentations. In view of the fact that I am going to chuck an Aldi lasagne down my gullet tonight, I was rather cheered to listen to your educated, culinary comments, hey ho, Bon appetite, and all that. Keep on doing what you are doing, great to watch, always. 👍
Much appreciated!
As usual fab vid Gareth I love a lasagne with crinkle chips
cheers Rob.
Hi Gareth they all looked lovely I love
Lasagna I had a Charlie Bingham's lasagna
Last night. It was very expensive over
8 pounds from Waitrose but worth every single penny it was gorgeous!
Glad you liked it. Yes pretty dear isn't it.
Great video that Aldi one the best from the start . Can you please do a luxury macaroni cheese it's hard to get a good Mac and cheese x
COOP's luxury Mac & Cheese is amazing
@@lesleyfarrington4809 is it ok I will pick one up. Thanks Lesley
Great suggestion!
I'm definitely going to try the Aldi one. Thanks for the review :)
Hope you like it!
I've had the Asda one and it was spot on!
The Aldi looked the most appetising. I haven't eaten lasagne for years, but maybe it's time. I will choose the Aldi one if available. My local Aldi store has had quite a few gaps on the shelves in recent weeks.
The large chef select from LIDL Beef Lasagne suits me for Saturday and Sunday dinner. If you get a chance, check that out.
In my opinion the aldi one wins on looks alone and with the cheese on the top damn yeh second is the asda one and M+S is third but that just my opinion I like it when the pasta goes crispy on the top yummy cracking video as usual keep up the good work from joff the trucker
cheers Joff yes it looked great didnt it. Go steady pal.
I had aldi lasagna for tea today, wow it packs a punch! I make an excellent lasagna but sometimes I just want something quick and this was so tasty!!!!❤
Yes the are all good these ones can't beat homemade though 😋😋👍
You could make a point about not being able to read the packet the amount of time it takes in oven or micro made meals at least high lite the times for people who can't see properly I am struggling to read the time it takes to cook
Cheers Mary.
I like it when the pasta goes a bit crisp at the sides, had one the other day, think it was from Sainsbury's.
Hi there just been watching your sausage video Have u had microwave sausage they are good 👍
Not yet! must try one, cheers Ann
Defo got to try the aldi one, cheers Gareth 👍
Yes, all lovely.
Brilliant review they all look lovely. I love lasagne could eat it all day everyday. A lovely salad and lasagne super smashing great 😁
Yes me too yummy 😋😋😋👍
@@BaldFoodieGuy🤣🤣no matter where or when lasagne always fits the moment
Yes it's a winner definitely 😋😋😋🥇
Am glad you try Aldi stuff coz there is a new one being built not far from me.
cheers
I've frozen loads of foods that say not suitable for freezing and haven't had any effects from freezing them.
Me too.
Aldi do a cracking family sized lasagne too! The Aldi one definitely looked the most appealing out of the three
Just brought the Aldi one can’t wait to try it
Enjoy 😋😋👍
Had a lidl deluxe lasagne today bloody amazing it was
I love Lasagne so was very interested in this video…thanks for posting
I’m not based in the UK and most of the products you review aren’t familiar to me that much, but I’m a baldy and love food so I’m here 😂😂
very kind of you pal, baldies stick together lol
Top class analysis for the man on the go.
thanks 😊
Great review Gareth!! Aldi here I come!!
cheers Guy.
Great review mate that was a true lasagne fest you had there lol
Yes it was haha got 2 of them in the fridge still.
@@BaldFoodieGuy Haha brilliant 😅
They all looked nice
Mark and spencers are good
Best wishes gareth
thanks 😊 cheers Kizzy
Even before you cooked it the Aldi looked the best and tastiest, great video Gareth 👍
cheers Mick
It is a bit weird that Italian peasant food costs so much! I live on the border with Italy, if you want budget food that's the place to be. Pasta is a staple but so are the cheap cuts of meat, like liver, rabbit etc. A popular thing is a bag of chopped up veg for minestrone.
thanks pal.
The LIDL one is amazing too !
cheers Philip.
