I remember as a kid asking David Delucci for one, told him if he signed my ball he'd hit a home run that night. He started laughing and said "well let me get you that autograph then real quick" he didn't hit one that night... I still feel bad lol
Kinda cool how you can still go early to a game, snatch a ball from batting practice then get a authentic autograph that pays for your whole trip to the park.
@@jadenschauer7752 is it why he got the autograph though? Did Scherzer turn down every single person in his life before this because they didn't include "future hall of famer" in their request?
Tigers fan here. He was an enigma before he became the Max we know. Never really knew what you were gonna get even though the talent was blatantly obvious ! Watch him blossom into a dominant, ultimate competitor!I'll Always be a Max Scherzer guy!!!!!
One time my mother crawled on the top of a canopy and tapped Craig Biggio on the helmet with a baseball to ask for his autograph. He was mad at first until he saw it was my mom. Then he signed the ball real fast.
I love when people with “star power” act like the rest of us nobodies. They appreciate that people are their fans. It’s really improbable and awesome in this day and age.
My dad took me to Oriole games at old memorial stadium and one time I saw Eddie Murray getting out of his car me and my friend rushed him and we startled him. He laughed and gave us both autographs. I'll never forget it.
A friend from work told me the story that when he was about 12 his dad sent him to get Joe DiMaggio's autograph at a game, so when he asked him for his autograph Joe said "aren't you to old for this?" and signed his ball. So my friend went back and told his dad "here's your stupid ball".
Definitely be polite, say please, and thank you. Common courtesy and manners go a long way. I have gotten multiple autographs that way. Darryl Strawberry, Jack Clark, John Elway, Shannon Sharpe, just to name a few. Of course now I just dated myself with the players I mentioned. 😂 But never called anyone Dawg...

Lol how is that the “right way”? You simply asked and then thanked him. I was expecting something clever. Next time, show the “wrong way” to ask so we can know the difference. *I appreciate that dawg*
I didn't know there was an art in asking for an autograph. That was pure genius. He said "Can we get an autograph". Brilliant! Just brilliant! Why are grown ass men asking some young dude for their signature anyway? Why don't they just take a picture of the back of his jersey. He's got his name written THERE, too.

Dang, I can’t believe he fell for that. What a dummy.

Having the ball is worth way more than a few hundred dollars. Feel for everyone who has to let one go for one reason or another
